Born and raised in Anaheim. Used to sit on the curb across from the of Fremont fields and place pennies on the tracks for the sugar beet trains to crush in the late 50s, Thanks for the memories,
I lived in Anaheim during the 80's and I remember the Ringling Bro's Circus parked on that first stretch of track so that it could parade from there on streets to it's destination. Nice memories, thanks for sharing!
Here in Ogden Utah we only have crossings rather than sharing the middle. Fortunately we have many overpasses of rail traffic. Union Pacific GPs are doing the switching with SD70Ms sometimes. Thanks for Notch 9 for your video.
Yes, true street running is rare here as well, with only a handful of active locations. Love to see the SD70's in action - those too are slowly disappearing. Glad you are enjoying the videos! Thanks!
Im really familiar with the area, I worked out of the UPS hub between Ball and Cerritos, just off State College blvd. For a few years I worked in the yard moving trailers, and the spur to Ghanal lumber ran right behind our yard. Im surprised that none of those lumber loads went there. They also used to park the Ringling Circus train right behind our yard on that spur.
After a closer look at the video - the train has its full Center-Beams backing into Altium, so I think they did spot them in Ganahl Lumber after all. That is my guess.
If I were a car driving down the street minding my own business (And wasn't aware of local RR history) and saw this freight train coming at me - I would provide freak right out!
Good eye! This one puzzled us as well - somehow inbetween chasing it from International Paper and Altium Packing - it switched out the centerbeams. It had the cars backing into Altium, so we believe it probably switched them at Ganahl Lumber immediately north of it. (Also it is possible the tank car went to Diversified CPC International directly East.) Seems like they packed a lot of switching into a little space! Thanks for watching the videos!!!
Dose this train ever go further east along the tracks closer to 57 freeway????? When I stayed at the Salvation army shelter durning the pandemic thought I saw it go east for hour then come back cross over BNSF/Metrolinck tracks....enjoyed this video Happy this is still running😊❤
This is my first time down there investigating and following the trains. Looking at Google maps the line definitely extends beyond the 57 - I just can't tell it gets rail service down there. Might be worth more trips down there! Thanks for checking out the videos!
Glad you like them - create them in Adobe Illustrator, I want the vector lines to stay sharp as I zoom into them. Also use Google Maps for basic reference points. My goal is as I create more videos - then I can reuse maps and not have to create all new from scratch. Will see how that works out. Thanks for checking out the videos!
@@MrNotch9 Yeah! First time watching your content, I love railfanning LOA32 (uses the same line) and have been seeing that local for years since my childhood. I didnt know they still ran the Marlboro train!
No, it is understandable. For some reason only the railfans and local historians seem to take notice of the railroads. Probably considered a nuisance by the rest. The more I look back into the rich history of the citrus packing and lumber industries - the more I am amazed by the scale and depth. So much activity down here!
I didn't see any remote operators on that particular job - it is possible the UP "J" yard has used them. Will have to pay more attention to that. Thanks.

Thanks for watching the video - would have liked to see that in person!

That would have been great to have seen!
The train interrupted the crackheads at 8:45😂😂
Yup! Got a little dicey for a moment. They weren't too keen us taping there.
I love narration and the maps. Very helpful.
Thanks - Glad you are enjoying them!!
Great video!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it
I miss the wig wag we had . Dam UP
Yes - I grabbed a still of it many years ago, wish I took a video back then as well!
I remember when they always had 50 or more cars and 3 locomotives to pull all of cars down the line. Those were the days.
That would very impressive to see!

Your narration really adds to the quality of your videos. Blessings!
Thanks - appreciate it. Good to hear.
Great video. Just wonderful how you captured and explained the whole trip! Keep up the great work and happy new Year!
Glad you are enjoying them. Hope to put out more soon!
Nice job 👏
Thanks! Appreciate you checking out the videos.
I miss living in Anaheim n I use to follow the ringling bros circus back to the icehouse when I was a kid
Yes, unfortunately the circuses all have gone away. (Huge shame!) Likewise, they were a fun part of a childhood.

i find it crazy theres still tracks in the street running in the middle of a neighborhood lol

Itchy! Nice
Can't beat the Simpsons!!! Thanks!
Awesome video!. Where did they drop off the center beam lumber cars?

One area by Cerritos Ave backs into Lumber company next to the Salvation Army Homeless shelter along side Lewis st
I think that is exactly right - next to the Salvation Army Shelter.

Great vid. Love the street running in Anaheim. What is actually left in the City of Orange that UP services?
Sorry, I am not sure. Perhaps others here will have a better idea.
@@MrNotch9 Thank you. No worries.
Great video. What do you use to make your maps?

Has this always been a UP line or was a SP like the sub that goes through Whittier to La Habra.
Yep! Ex. SP line
I think part these routes. of these are possibly of the Pacific Electric (And SP)
Actually majority sp and then PE
Is it bad, that I've lived in Orange County my entire life, and never knew this was here? (To clarify, the street running portion)

I thought the trains from that area were remote controlled. I know I’ve seen signage in the past about unmanned cars.
I didn't see any remote operators on that particular job - it is possible the UP "J" yard has used them. Will have to pay more attention to that. Thanks.
I have not followed this local for 15 years since this guy Chris walker used to chase them and repost on the internet.
Interesting train - just came upon it recently. Certainly worth looking more into. Thanks!
Was this taken on a Friday?
According to my video log - it was on a Thursday, Sept 26th. (My video details info might be off)
