    With all single cylinder turbo setups u need a boost reservoir 4 times the displacement of the engine in volume, between the turbo and the inlet of the engine. Reason being unlike a multicylinder engine a single cylinder engine only pushes the turbo once every 4 phases when the exhaust valve is open and only takes boost in every 4 phases when the inlet valve is open. Inbetween phases the compressed air bounces back and forth in waves literally stoping the turbo from spooling. That is what a boost reservoir stops from happening. You can see it happening by the boost gauge jumping up and down.

    If you turn up the injection timing on it that should also help turbo spool. It’s probably about 10 degrees out of the box and 15-18 would make a substantial difference. There are shims beneath the injection pump that affect the timing. Removing shims increases timing and adding shims reduces timing.

    The Rain Cap made it on there lol, it’s a real diesel now! One way I’ve found, on those types of rain caps to prevent the nut on the pivot bolt from backing off, due to vibrations causing it to fly apart. Drill a small hole through the threads right up agains the nut big enough for a cotter pin to go through, and then just run a cotter pin through it, and lock the cotter pin, and that’ll prevent it from flying apart.

    Yay! Fun fo sho. An intake boost plenum with 1.5 times the volume of the cylinder displacement ( 1.5 times minimum, to 2.0 times displ.). The plenum will store the compressed air with greater available volume, in time for intake valve opening, feeding the greater volume into the cyl. More air + the rich fuel you have (black smoke) =bigger bang= mo go! See book: Maximum Boost by author Corky Bell for details on plenum design. Best turbo how-to book ever, IMHO. • @animeaddict6907
      @animeaddict6907 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It appears to be a knock-off diesel version of the Honda clone. It may be possible to use an aftermarket piston since it is of the same displacement as the Tilly 196/Honda GX200/Predator 212 and such. The one mod I think should be done right now is governor delete. There's a big governor gear in these dragon engines that really makes them lag slower than a buffering Netflix movie.

I'm really impressed with that little 3hp engine, I know its not a powerhouse but that moves really good. I'll have to go back and watch the video without any boost. I would like to see him build a kart with both of those small diesel engines with the single turbo feeding both engines. The boost may increase to a level that a single engine cannot achieve and increase the performance of both engines. I'm not a mechanic, so if I am wrong by assuming that it might work, I would enjoy having it explained to me.

    the smallest turbo diesel engines are the 800 cc smart 3 cyl 54 hp and the 2 cyl. maruti suzuki diesels with 47 hp . they both start boosting at 2,000 RPMs. anything smaller would need more rpms, like 4,000 rpms for a 400 cc engine and 8,000 rpms for the 212 cc chinese diesel, far above diesel engine capability. you would have to have someone manufacture you a special micro turbo that does not yet exist to have low end boost on a tiny single cyl. diesel. Not saying it can't be done, only that it has not been done yet. It would be cool if you could get tiny displacement turbo diesels with intercoolers that made super efficient tiny engies for go carts and motorcycles and things like 2-cv cars.

    it can make more boost if you put some bolts in the 2 open bolt holes on the intake side of the turbo

    Ditch the tractor flap and put a coffee can exhaust tip on it to let everyone know she's a diesel lol, awesome build

    I would be interesting to see that engine on a torque application of some sort... maybe generator or something like that... garden tractor, etc.

    You should try putting your NOS kit on it. See if the exhaust smoke clears up at all, when you push the button. You could try an intercooler, chill box, or water/meth. But I would really like to see is an additional fuel system, too inject either rc fuel or nitromethane. Use a windshield washer reservoir set up. Once you goose it, push the washer button, and spray a stream, of nitromethane into the turbo. Could use a gear change too. Might want to consider a scatter shield for the flywheel and clutch. Maybe a firewall and extinguisher. And don't forget to say a prayer, every time you get on it.

    you should also slightly change the gearing on it as well, maybe few tooth smaller sprocket because it runs lower rpms, it wont go as fast and wont have as much load.

    Do they actually make turbos for like a regular 150cc Hammerhead Go Kart and if so does it actually make any kind of performance difference

    intercooler? go with a liquid cooled setup like frozenboost does...but make it suitably sized for the dingo...more plumbing etc yes...but cool factor +++
    i already screen shot my diesel lovin' bro on this ... we're planning on cobbling together some toys of our own to play with...this is definitely on the list!

    The closer you can mount that turbo to the exaust port the better put intake lash at 5 and the exaust at 7 the extra heat on the exaust valve will close the gap at operating temp and check your gaskets sounds like you blew one out when you decelerated on the first clip running twards the shop enging sounded different after

    I saw you take the wastegate actuator off, but I didn't ever see anything done to keep the wastegate closed after that. If its just wide open and flapping around, that's going to really affect it making boost.

    It would be cool to see one of them engines converted to gas or possibly alcohol the compression would probably blow the spark plug out though lol

    2 thing, first running a turbo without an air filter is stupid also because of heat explosion there should be some sometime on the intertake such as a short section of hose

  • @jetstream454
    @jetstream454 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm thinking because the loss in compression was only temporary, either something was lodged in a valve briefly or something was up with the decompression lever for a little bit.

    on 4 wheelers a clutch mod is a washer or shim between drive sheathes to make the belt ride lower , to increase bottum end and lower gear ratio

    Make sure the actual waste gate flap in the exhaust housing is staying closed might need to put a turn buckle on it cause it shouldn't smoke more with the turbo than it did before

  • @cwgreen1938

    The diesel dingo is great but need the boost gauge on the dash and the fuel/air ratio needs to be checked, it looks from the white smoke that it is not burning all the fuel which might be affecting the performance.

    If you seal a wd40 straw inside the boost gauge feed line it will give you a more accurate recording. Less bouncy ✌️✌️✌️

    I bet if you were to wrap that exhaust pipe with proper heat wrap, you'll build even more boost. Those little engines don't have a lot of thermal output on the exhaust side and that tube is probably cooling the exhaust charge quite a bit before hitting the turbo.

  • @jimciancio9005

    Hey that's pretty amazing, it makes any boost off a single cylinder yes those are tiny turbos but still only having a single exhaust pulse to power it is impressive Shit! Unfortunately it's all Chinese and ya get what you pay for sadly. Awesome build guy's, love to see dumb stuff work no matter what it is? BUT it keeps everyone entertained and we all learn from y'all! Keep em comin guy's!
