  • Couple problems with the mirror. The mirror can either continuously click or it can fold out all the way inverted. With this video you can fix either.

The zip tie just holds the dust cover on…
The spring washer over the spring has cupped so I won’t hold and won’t hold the spring down over the shaft. I just did mine… so I bent the washer tabs flat with a need nose pliers, then tapped the washer down over shaft about a 1/2 “ down from the top of the shaft, then I reassembled…. Keeping the mirror open position. I also lowered the window to make it easier to reassemble…. Now my mirror works great

Nice work. I think there's a few owners who have experienced weird gremlins with the side mirrors. I have experienced my own. The old left side mirror would function fine, movement wise, but as soon as it would set to position after start up, my god the noise that would make was horrendous. It was like a giant hornet stuck inside buzzing for 10 seconds. I believe a gear may have stripped. I still have the old side mirror set, so one day when I can be bothered, I might investigate the inside.

Thank You. Your video helped so much. Without it, I'm sure tabs/mirror would have been broken, as well as the location for all the screws needed to be removed. Like user-yd8cg5gl6m said, the main thing is to allow that top washer to come up/off and rotate it flattening it as best you can. THEN, I used a 14mm crescent wrench and gently/lightly but firmly , hammered it down about that 1/2" or a bit more. It has to get down past the point where the post increases in diameter by maybe a 16th of an inch. Then the washer will hold that spring in compressed state. I didn't zip tie the dust cover, even though mine was stretched on both sides like yours. I do believe its the washer that does the "holding". Auto mirror functions all works great now. I personally will not leave it in the "auto" setting. I will likely only use the folding function when needed...or to "exercise" the motors, gears, etc. I'll update if the washer doesn't hold . Again, Thanks for your video. It REALLY REALLY made the fix possible without any damage/breakage.

Did that white plastic piece that you zip tied have a part number?

Get an aftermarket amp and install the sound system. Track the wiring harness on it. Worth doing.
