Good video bearded one, however, the oem speaker is not actually "blown", it just has what all older Lexus cars have happen and that is the foam surround has dry rotted. You can order new replacement "surrounds" for next to nothing and reuse the stock speaker which is Ideally matched for the Mark Levinson amplifier.
Nice tutorial, I’m literally in the process of doing all my speakers and sub. I’ll definitely use the speakers you’ve used for the front. Just need to know what size and brand to use on the rear now 😉
Have you done a sound test? How they sound now? I’m looking for more of a rich low end from the mids and not sure is these Skar Audio ones will do the trick? How do they sound to you.
Disagree unless you do the complete system, new processor and amplifiers and all new speakers, then yes there are better speakers. If you’re keeping the OE head and Levinson amp then repair for $20.
@@matthewbacon3171 how long until you have it finished? I've been looking for a ML and a UL here because I want to make a video comparing all three trims
Got my front passenger swapped out yesterday, thanks for the useful video and speaker recommendation! After only one day my drivers side went last night and I'm starting to hear issue with my sub lol Any recommendations on a sub and rear door mid range speakers? I'm just gonna tackle on the speakers this weekend minus the tweeters, thanks!
I ended up just buying a refurbished unit from a guy on ebay, and it's worked great. I will be tackling the rear door speakers soon and can give a better answer on the rear speakers at that point
Needs that rear door vid to drop in right behind you 🙏🏽🙏🏽 trying to locate specs with no luck is it 6.5” in the rear as well? LMK. This was huge help btw the stool was clutch 💯
Weathers getting nicer man we need to link up and work on sumn. I got to go to Oklahoma to grab a c4 vette...after i get it let me come by and throw it on a lift. Got a cam and some other stuff done to the engine, just a fun flip really, im a mustang guy lol.
The Mark Levinson amplifier has x-overs built in so the door speakers only receive a certain frequency range and the dash speaker covers the higher frequencies. A “component “ system.
You have replaced the true high end Mark Levinson speaker with a $20 p.o.s. Chinese garbage. That speaker looked perfectly restorable, the dust cap was fine, just the foam surround was rotted and could've been easily repaired with new foam. Kits are easily available. Whoever watches this - don’t do what he did!!’ Get the original refoamed. It’s easy.
Yea let's keep the old rotting paper cone "truly high end" speaker because you have some romantic idea that "they don't build them like they used to". Guess what? They don't . They build them better now.

yeahhh exactly my thoughts my dad has skoda fabia mk1 and same thing happend to the speakers
Humm I'll have to check to see if what's what happened to mine thanks for the insight.

Great video! Hopefully we get the rear door speakers soon!
Yes I will!
Where’s the rear speaker tutorial! Lol

these to me sound more punchy than deep rich lows
is this for the ML system or regular
Mark Levinson
@@beardedreviews damn. I have regular and am looking for a similar tutorial with what speakers to buy
6.5 inch 2 ohm midrange speaker for non ML @@un1verse596
From what i understand If its a Levinson system and the speaker is not wired for 8 ohms you will blow the amp.
@@un1verse596did you find anything?
Nicely explained. Can the existing speakers be repaired by replacing the deteriorated foam instead?
These speakers are way too old to even bother to refurbish especially when you have way better options in todays market like JL and Focal

Great video! I'm currently putting a Focal 3 way setup in the front doors, this was awesome info. Side note- is that a Kansas tattoo on your arm?

Does the trim level matter?? Base, UL?? Or are the front all the same?

I think the rears are 6 inch and the sub 8
Rear sizes ?
Same as front.
Thank you for making this video sir 🫡
I will use this, but do you know how to fix an automatic door lock on this same car?
I do not. Haven't tried that yet
What about rear speakers, what specs?
Are the stock speakers mid bass or mid range?
mid bass

Why does it have to be mid range speakers only?
