I switched to FP/Godox 3 years ago (the R2 sys) with the MagMod system, and love it. It all works as you say, and it's so much more versatile and intuitive compared to the Nikon gear, plus it's less expensive. I bought the transmitter with 2 flash units, and it's like a lightweight portable studio. It's helped the most at wedding reception venues, when the ambient light's bad, or ceilings and walls aren't bounceable. You mentioned build quality. My Flashpoints have hit hard floors a few times from 8-10 feet up, and still work. That was surprising! Lol. All in all, a really good purchase. Easy to learn, and still working almost 40 weddings later.
I recently bought a used Z6, changing over from my Pentax DSLR. I had all of your Godox/Flashpoint flashes and a few more. Because all are compatible, all I have to do is get Nikon Godox trigger, and all the flashes will fire. I did buy the smaller V350n Godox compact flash that fits nicely on top of the Z6. I now use it as a trigger to all the other flashes and it puts out enough flash to help with the scene too!
I agree, I switched over from neewer because they would make 2 flashes work with 1 trigger and the next would be totally different. I ended up going with the streaklight instead of the round head for more versatility and also the ability to boom it with battery back on belt clip, I also have the dual macro kit, it is amazing, the zoom ttl, and 2 ad200 kits.
Ordered a V1 today and spare battery for my Nikon system for my property and weddings, spending far too much on batteries and the sb910’s just dont recycle that quick, cant wait to see the improvements with the V1
I hope you love it - just keep the box in case the unit has any issues. They are warrantied so you don't have to worry about them, but as I mention in the video, I had two bad ones on a row.
Key with fast recycle on any of the Nikon speed lights that have the connection is to use an external battery . Godox makes one. That being said, I just purchased a V1. Impressed so far. For now keeping SB5000 .
Did u try godex 600pro i am having problems with flash misfiring the trigger used is xprot2 just wounded id those you have misfire or not , tried changing batteries and channels with no luck
Here you tested that Godox for drop damage? I really haven't, but my Nikon SB910 is about 10 years old, have fallen a few times. All the low cost triggers are smashed to pieces, but SB910 survived all those years.
I have 2 sb 5000s with my d850 also 1 v860ii, 1 ad200pro and 2 ad600pros..it makes no sense to keep the sb5000s for me as well. It is a good flash with the wireless system with the wireless remote adapter set. but I paid so much 2 years ago for the wr-r10 and wr-a10 remote system and flashes and the wireless remote only works with the sb5000s. I'm selling both sb5000s now on ebay..lol also if you don't have a battery pack or rechargeable batteries you'll eventually spend money on new AA batteries that will eventually add up to the price of a godox!I really don't know why ppl would spend nearly 600$ on a nikon flash ( as I did 2 years ago) when you can have a nice setup with the godox. I haven't had any issues with any of my godox gear and I've have all of them for nearly 2 years
There are too many Li-ion power speedlights. I love the new li-ion strobes but I'm sick of all the multitude of different batteries that has to be managed. Even my dedicated charging desk is overflowing. I'll use Li-ion Strobes but my speedlights will only be AA. Speedlights get damaged/stolen so Godox/Flashpoint are a very good value cheap system...
I completely agree with you! One thing to consider though, the recycle time of the lith-ion speedlight is superior to using AA batteries. You can bridge that gap by using a good rechargeable AA battery.
That's another reason I went with the streaklight and power pack, it can be used on speedlight also, I really only use speedlight with cable for spur of the moment stuff, otherwise I break out the streaklight or put both 200s together for 400ws in a softbox.
@@ShutterSpeak Hey Joe, I was hoping you'd talk about the Z9 settings. I have to the Nikon SB-900 and 800, when connected to either the Z9 or the Z7II the Flash Control Menus are greyed out. Is the speedlight or a camera setting? Neither camera will allow my flash settings to control except for TTL and M. Any thoughts? Do your speedlights allow that menu option to open? Photo Shooting Menu > approx 1/2 down > Flash Control

Thanks for watching and commenting. Its a great system and you can't go wrong. Congrats on your purchase of the Z6 - it's a great camera.

Not sure why this video is suddenly popular again but please check the video description for an update on my view on these units.
@@ShutterSpeak I've searched the reviews because I wanted to buy one. :)

great video thanks for the info. Didn't see an update video so assuming 3rd unit was the charm? lol
Third unit worked without incident.
@@ShutterSpeak thank you for the update

If I need fast recharge or good output then I'l use Strobes...
you are correct. I have batteries and chargers all over the place. Sometimes it takes an hour or so to find them all.
