@@blainecasey5190 I found out you cannot- the USB-C port is only for firmware updates. You need to use the battery charger. (Lame, could have been so easy for them to implement that).
Thanks for all the great info! Was wondering if there is a reason my fps on my canon camera slows down when I put the flash on? I don’t need 12fps but it slows down to like 2 even at the lowest power on the flash. Any ideas why this is or, better yet, how to overcome it? Saw a photog on tv and his on camera flash was keeping up at @ 8fps.
Is it possible to have a bad connection inside the flash unit? When I change the direction of the flash head I sometimes lose connectivity between the flash and my Sony. Or sometimes I get a message saying that this component is not compatible with this camera. I twist the head a bit and everything works again like normal. This just recently started happening.

Hi there i have same flash i shoot events such as weddings bridal shower and other events i use Sony a7iii and i have the vs1 i am on TTl Mode most of the time for events i iso is between 400-to 500 and shutter speed is at 200 my flashlight some times it won’t flash and it won’t even let me test the flash is there something i am doing wrong here ☹️ Please help with a video or comment below
Please help me. I just bought this flash and it totally trips when putting it in manual or multi mode. It keeps firing continuesly, without me pushing any buttons or shutter. Till the battery overheats. So it only works on ttl. I have no clue what this is or what to do

Is there any way to make the Flash Exposure Compensation setting sticky, so that it is maintained when the unit is switched off and on again? The V860 II & III has this function, but I can't make it work on the V1... Thanks!

In the my version of the Flash, there is also Master : off / on. But when I deactivate the master , it does not turn down the v1. This would be helpful if you use the v1 to trigger a second flash but you don’t want to drain the battery of the v1 , because you don’t need it’s Flash. Any idea on how you can achieve this? If you purchased one of these for Sony and start shooting with Panasonic LUMIX, could you just buy a hot shoe replacement that is compatible with Panasonic camera's to replace? It would be a shame to have to completely replace the flash if you are able to do so..

Thank you for this guide. I currently have the V1C (Flashpoint version not Godox) with firmware version 1.3. I currently have two problems: (1) I am having problems with my V1 consistently triggering my eVolv 200. (2) I am also having trouble turning off the Master and only triggering the slaves in groups B, C and D only. Can anyone help me please?
if your recycle is over .5 second at 1/4 theres a problem with your flash. It's one of the fastest recycling speedlight's on the market. Make sure you're aware of the thermal protection counter though, which can be found in the manual for every power output.

@@ortopet519 You are putting it in thermal protection mode by overworking the flash. It does this to protect the battery. If you are consistently over 1/4 power I would suggest using a more powerful flash.

Yes. As long as you have the correct brand-specific master on camera (whether it be a trigger or speedlight) you can use TTL and HSS on any slave off camera, regardless of what brand it's designed for on-camera.
Robert great video. Is the Godox V1 compatible with my flashpoint lights on the r2 system? I have an r2 trigger. Will it fire the Godox V1? Are the Flashpoint v1 and Godox v1 exactly the same?
The "Flashpoint Zoom Li-On X" and the Godox V1 are the same thing and yes they work together interchangeably. There's technically not such thing as a Flashpoint V1.
It's basically just a GN scale for direct flash use, I think most ignore it because it's irrelevant for bouncing, off camera use, or any time the flash has a modifier.
Wow! This was awesome. This is the best tutorial on the V1 yet. Also helpful to learn about all the other functions. After a lot of frustration at a shoot, I pulled this v1 out and got lost in what function each button had. This tutorial is perfect for reducing the frantic button pressing session I had at a shoot. Nice, I don't use my V1 often so this walk through was timely. In Multi your example 18 Times at 9 hz with a short press of the test fire doesn't launch the flash sequence. Holding the test button down does. Is this just mine?
I have the V1 for my Sony and when I turn it on it’s stuck on Multi I can’t get the same screen as you , I can’t even change the power setting. It’s super annoying. So you have a fix ?
Considering the flash comes with hardly any instructional information, this video is amazingly valuable. My firmware is version 1.4 vice .2 but the information was easy enough to translate the few differences. Great tutorial with out messy opinion just facts!

I don't understand the composation numbers on the V1, well I don't understand alot about the external flash. I have the V1 C and just be messing around in hopes something will trigger my brain. I'm so confused!
TTL calculates the exposure for you based on reflective metering. Manual, you choose the output. HSS allows your flash to to sync beyond the camera sync speed limit, to any shutter speed you want. But, it does this by pulsing the light multiple times, which means its peak brightness is lower and less efficient.
Has anyone found a cap that fits over the contacts on the VB26 battery that powers the V1? Just a friction fit that doesn’t fall off. My Nikon camera body batteries all have contact covers which I think is a good idea.
There are times it suddenly stops working in the middle of a shoot. And i can't figure out why. Then all it does is make the beep sound when you attempt to make it fire. Who knows why this happens? I i'm using the Xpro trigger

Ciao Robert, on my V1s there is no "Back" arrow in the modeling light menu...but the "Model" button on the left of the screen...my version is the 1.4 vs 0.2 on your video...maybe you can update your fw =)
Did you recently purchase yours? The Godox and Flashpoint firmware pages have 1.3 to download for Canon but I just got a V1 for Canon and it also says version 1.4 like yours. Wonder what the change is?
how come nobody ever says how long the modeling light can stay on or show the true brightness! Yall be explaining everything else in full detail but NEVER show any of this which is the highlight of this product! WTF
I guess none of us really see it as a “highlight”. We know speedlights are designed to be small, therefore the battery is tiny and incapable of having a modeling LED that is bright. If it were bright the battery would be dead in under 10 minutes. Its primary use might be focusing in the dark in a pinch, but otherwise we don’t even consider it a modeling light because it’s incapable of modeling behind a modifier (because it’s not bright).
I just bought my own V1, I was lost on how to use it, so thank you for the thorough video. I’m going full Godox so please keep these video coming.

For Firmware 1.6, "Slave" has been replaced by "Rx" at 7:25. Similarly "Sv" is "Rx" in custom functions at 9:17.

That’s not how it works. There is a battery charger. You plug the cable into the charger not the flash. The USB on the flash is only for firmware.

What does the icon WL with a circle and cross out mean? I can only change my other wireless ad200pro if I push shutter half way. V1s
it means you have the Wireless flash system activated in your Sony, turn it off to get the regular Godox menu.

The A7iv will not fire the Godox in electronic shutter "silent" mode. This was my issue when I first tried to use the Godox V1s.
On my Godox V1 c I have in wireless mode only „RX“ and not „slave“. Do you have any idea why?

On Canon, the A group controls the on camera flash AND any external flashes in group A. There is no fix.
Can this flash do burst mode on cameras? If so, how do I set that?
