    Great BTS and lighting info. I used run with a triple speedlight bracket ( kids these days won't ever know the feeling of using a triple bracket lol) for events indoor and outdoor. Now it's ad200 and Xplor all day 😎.

    • @ogonzilla
      @ogonzilla  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I know...had the triple threat too...before the xplor! Got tired of setting that thing up! Speedlights work great for me when the xplor is overkill. Cheers.

      @FemOdelPhotography 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, i am with you on that one :-)
      I have a number of branded and yungnuo lights (mainly the 600), and i have a stash of AA batteries. and a couple of triple brackets. A pain when you have exhaust the batteries, especially if you use like 8 per flash (if you use an external battery pack). It takes forever to recharge.
      And then i discovered the AD200. I now have two of them. No more fiddling around with AA batteries. Happy shooting.

    Great video! You made a lighting tutorial that felt practical and easy to comprehend, without getting into the weeds like some tutorials. I've been watching a lot of your videos over the last few months. Hopefully I have learned as much as I have laughed at your presentation. Last year I picked up the X-T3 with the 18-55mm lens as my first mirrorless. A few weeks ago I bought a 55-200mm lens. My wife thinks I'm crazy because now I examine lighting everywhere we go. Keep up the great work!

    I have just found you on TH-cam in the last few days. Let me just say you are awesome. Flash scares me to death. Especially in really low light conditions. I have watched this video around 3 times already. And will watch it again and again till it sinks in. Have a low light wedding in a few weeks, like oh gee! Would love to see more of these. I wish you had a online flash class. The way you teach is outstanding.

    One of the best explanations of using flash and the camera settings I have seen. Thank you! You have done a great job of explaining ambient light and flash. Also liked that you talked about various ways to achieve a hair light. Always enjoy watching your videos.
    I have completely converted to fuji. I know you use your fuji cameras for more personal shooting but it would be great to see it used in a shoot like this. I realize you would have to invest/borrow in a 50-140mm lens. I just upgraded to the X-T3 and am really happy with it. Ric

    This is a great video because:
    1) what you say is correct,
    2) you explain it all very well.
    3) the coverage is good,
    4) the pics look great, which shows that theory is not just for its own sake but brings about results!
    The only thing I'm missing in the equation: shutterspeed. I use to control ambient by shutterspeed, so I don't need to bother changing ISO/flash power. Which of course comes with some constraints: HSS and motion blur. Was it on purpose that you didn't mention exposure time, just not to overcomplicate things?

    Question: I also noticed in the background of the temple there is beautiful ambient light on the stage, which if I woudln't want to darken too much/kill, what should I be doing different? changing the ISO perhaps or toning down the flash power or both? Little bit more insight would be helpful, thanks
