I just removed mine today and will clean it in a few days. This video was a lot of help.

Congratulations on an easy fix. I did not know about the pencil eraser cleaning method.

Yeah, this fix was very easy. It’s helps when cars aren’t overrun with modern electronics. I’d hate to pull apart a touchscreen unit from one of today’s more modern cars.

Nice ride, can't beat a C4 for price/ fun ratio. Fun cars, I own a 1990 ZR-1, cool ole ride. I need to fix my b hvac controller also

Use IPA to clean the PCB AND the carbon rubber pads. Someone probably spilled a drink and seeped in there. Car looks in great shape!

the under hood lights have their own pigtail connector, check and see if they are unplugged! People usually disconect for car shows as to not drain the battery

I just checked it. The pigtail is connected. But I popped both lenses off and both bulbs are cracked 😅

@@CarsCraftsDrafts Put in LEDs. Those under hood halogens draw a TON of current, plus the leds will be brighter. One of the best mods I've done to my '86 is a full led replacement. I still need to find a little better white color for the cluster, but the current draw on the cluster alone went from 1.7A to 0.65A just by replacing 4 halogens (not to mention the heat damage they halogens can cause).
