My brother and I came up with the idea for this channel while my wife was giving me a hard time about wanting to build a kegerator. I wanted to put one in our basement so it's handy while doing "crafts" (which is what my wife calls my projects).
This channel will document various projects and various beers. I'm not a master of anything, and will probably do a lot of things the "wrong" way, but I'll have fun doing it and will probably fail in entertaining ways.
I have two brothers that are both very handy and trying their hand at woodworking so, hopefully, I can drag them into the channel as well. The brother that brainstormed this idea with me will probably just be along for beer support. He works for a big beer distributor in Upstate NY so, hopefully, I can get my hands on some good stuff.
If you want to see a true Average Joe take on some random projects that come across his mind, check out a few videos and see what you think! Let's see where this thing takes us.

Should I Turn This Subaru Outback Into a Gambler?
Thanks for taking your time to create the video. Tomorrow will be a great day to do this on my own C4. Greetings from The Netherlans.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this! For anyone interested, yes, it really is this easy, but, put pin in that... I believe retail price is $200 or so but with maybe 20 minutes of searching, you should be able to find a deal. I bought mine for under $160 with tax and free shipping to my local dealer in southern California. Now, for that pin. Slow down just a sec when installing it. I got a little heavy-handed popping the new one in and it cracked. Luckily, I was able to replace it at no cost. Subaru dropped the ball by not offering this as standard or a factory-installed option, especially on the higher trims. Regardless, it's worth the cost and very easy to install (especially on MY23+).
Where’d you find a fob I can’t find them anywhere
I picked mine up on eBay.
THANK YOU for this! :) I can't wait to order the part.
You’re welcome! Glad you enjoyed it.
Thank you!
You ain’t show anything about taking it off or putting it back on
At 07:30 I explain how to remove it. Installation is the reverse of removal. It's pretty simple and straightforward.
You've got the patience of a saint. Thanks for the great video.
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it!
With the switch left on, does the light have an auto on/off with the operation of the doors like the other interior lights?
Yes, the light will turn itself off 30 seconds after the hatch closes. And this light only comes on when the hatch is opened, it doesn’t come on with any of the passenger doors.
Can you make a video installing it please 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Thanks for sharing your video. I know I will be doing new pads soon and your video helped. I did check and Amazon does sell the tool to compress the rear caliper in for around $10-$12.
Yeah, they’re cheap and using the correct tool is much easier than trying to rig something up like I did!
@CarsCraftsDrafts I'd have never known this had I not watched your video. Thanks for sharing...
Hello , from where you are buyed the fob ? I'm looking from one ,Thank you
I got mine on eBay.
what are the pros and cons of evap purge solenoid delete
Not sure, I’ve never looked into that.
Nice show on the gasket holes
Yeah, it’s not a big deal but it’ll save you a few minutes if you get it right the first time!
This was very helpful thanks for sharing, I had no trouble until I was finished and now the parking brake isn’t working, I took a test drive, then parked and put the parking brake on (had no issues, shut the car off) Next time I went to drive I shut the park brake off, but I’m getting lights saying it’s still on, but it is not engaged because there is zero resistance when driving. I only disconnected the p brake electrical connect on one side to do pads, then reconnected, the other side I left in place… I didn’t touch anything else and can’t figure out how to reset it or test to make sure it’s functioning properly - any feedback/direction?
Sorry man, I don’t have any advice. I haven’t run into that. I’m guessing you turned both sides back in, right? I’d say cycle the p brake a few times and see what happens, but if it worked the first time… I’m not sure…
@ I did, no sweat - I appreciate the response!
My 2009 Impala had P0455 and some mornings it would say “tighten gas cap” on the DIC. Well the prev. owner already replaced the gas cap. I checked the rubber and everything looked OK. Replaced that part in the video, the purge valve. Light went away. Came back a week later. This time it’s P0442. Replaced the vapor canister vent solenoid underneath the fuel fill door inside the fender. A couple months roll by and it’s on again. P0442. . . . . 😃
Yeah, this EVAP stuff is mostly just throwing parts at the problem until it goes away! Luckily the parts are all pretty cheap.
❤🎉
Came here to find out how to take this off in the middle of extracting an engine in a van. 14mm hex bolt was the key piece of info, thanks! The harbor freight hex sockets are barely long enough. When I reinstall the motor I’m going to look for an actual Allen key big enough because there’s only about 1mm of actual engagement.
Glad this was able to help with that little tidbit. I had the same problem with my hex key, it was barely long enough to bite.
What’s going on bud. We need an update on your c4 lol. Have you done anything to your car lately? What was the reason behind the change of the fuel pump? Did you get a code? Was she acting weird at wot?
I changed the fuel pump because the car would start falling on its face after an hour or so of driving. No codes. Figured it was the opti, but thought I’d start easy and do the fuel pump and fuel filter first. Didn’t work. I wound up doing the opti but didn’t film it because I was kind of in a rush to get it done in an afternoon. I wish I had filmed, because it wasn’t nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be! I’d do it again in a heartbeat. The toughest part was shelling out the $$$ for a quality unit.
@ for sure man. I’m glad putting in the new opti fixed your issue bud. I plan on doing the same thing before the yrs out.
Subaru is covering the replacement of front brake “juddering” problems. They replaced the rotors, calipers and pads at no charge; a design flaw that caused rotors to warp.
Yeah, I got that notice in the mail. That wasn’t an option 3 years ago 😁
@@CarsCraftsDrafts Good video, enjoyed it. That notice from Subaru I believe provides for reimbursement of repair costs that may have been done to fix it as well. Thanks
Where did you find a pke? All the ones I have seen for sale are broke and they still want 300-600 dollars each
I got mine on eBay. I got lucky, I paid a little less than what most are asking bc the guy wasn’t sure if it worked.
Is it the same for both sides? I have a 2005 2500 and both sides are leaking so wondering if the same seal will work on both sides?
I only changed the driver side, but I do believe it’s the same seal.
question for you. You said when you get on the brakes aggressively you get a wha wha wha we have the same car, and I feel the same way. Did changing the brakes help with that at all? Great video great information.
I’d say changing the pads helped with 80% of the issue. New rotors probably would have eliminated it all together, but I was happy with the results.
Cool
Not as functional as the other light, but looks pretty neat.
That's awesome. Thank you for the video. Should've come like that from the factory.
Yeah, they definitely missed the mark here. Thankfully this is a breeze to install.
I think for the 2025s it comes as an additional optional install/upgrade from factory/dealer installed. i think this part is pretty newly released as it is anyways, but yes 100% should come standard!
Nice tip
Thanks for the easy to follow video. It’s on my to do list now that winter is approaching and it get so dark
It’s so easy to do!
Will these effect how it runs n drives is it safe to drive with these code need to do the same on mines
I ran with the code for years before I decided to do something about it (bc I was selling the truck and wanted the CEL off). It ran fine the whole time.
After having the car battery replaced, I was having issues. This process worked for me. Thanks!
Awesome! Glad this helped!
Thanks so much for this video!! It’s a life and $$$ saver! Took my 2020 Subaru Ascent to the dealer yesterday due to some clicking sounds, was told needed to replace brakes and it was going to cost me $1525 for all 4, I said no thank you will figure it out.
Right on! Glad to hear it!
Wish In had of come accross this last year. Could have saved a bunch. Learn from your mistakes.
The positive is that, even if you wind up chasing the problem like I did, all the parts are cheap.
Always put your gas cap back on ASAP to avoid dropping something into the tank! Maybe a difference in your C4 and my 86, I barely get any fuel spillage when doing this. I don't remove any other fuel connections, so there's a suction action going on and it doesn't drain out, perhaps? Might as well replace the intank fuel screen on the fuel pump at the same time. Also have a fire extinguisher readily available, just in case. And while you have that gas cap trim removed, time to clean that up a bit!
I think the earlier C4s like yours have the filter in a much better location. If I didn’t have to contort myself to get up there, I would have been able to do it with minimal spillage. I replaced the fuel pump at the same time. Not the whole unit, just the pump itself and new sock. I just haven’t edited that footage yet. So easy to change that out on this car. Much better than cutting a trap door into the bed of a pickup truck to avoid dropping the tank!
A lot easier to change fuel pump than fuel filter on these. What year is your C4? My 95 has the same color interior as yours but the paint is maroon
100%! I did the fuel pump as well, that was a breeze. Easiest access out of all the cars I’ve worked on. This is a ‘94 with 125k miles.
@@CarsCraftsDrafts 94-96 are great years for these cars.
The fuel filter fitting size is 20mm.
I figured. One of the sizes that walked away 🤦♂️
Just did this on an 87. I can confirm it's a 20mm.
Thank you. I have to do the brakes on my 2020 Ascent and I hate to run into the "Gotchas" when doing brakes on a car I've never worked on before. This helps a lot.
Get a proper parking brake winding tool instead of doing it half-assed like I did! They’re cheap on Amazon. That’s the only thing in the video that I’d go back and change.
Do you know what gauge wires these are? I want to order the proper 12v outlet. Great find! Thanks for posting!
I don’t recall, but if I had to guess I’d say 16ga.
@@CarsCraftsDrafts I posted on the forum as well today and I believe 16 is right on the money. Thank you for the reply!
Thank you my fob battery died and I had to reprogram it with your help it all works fine
Glad it helped!
How did you get it open to replace the battery? I don't want to break anything.
Thank you for making and sharing the video. It was very helpful. I appreciate it. It's nice when you find a cold beer like this.. 😁
A cold one always helps!
Great video Sir. Much appreciated 🫡
Thank you!
Thank you. Great video and instruction.
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Use IPA to clean the PCB AND the carbon rubber pads. Someone probably spilled a drink and seeped in there. Car looks in great shape!
Is that 5 pin wire connection for automotive use only? I couldn’t find any 110v. Thanks! Nice build! 25:31
Sorry, just saw this! Yes, those are Weatherpack connectors. I had a box leftover from when I used to upfit plow trucks. I figured waterproof would be good to use inside the freezer.
Nice ride, can't beat a C4 for price/ fun ratio. Fun cars, I own a 1990 ZR-1, cool ole ride. I need to fix my b hvac controller also .
Thanks for the post. This is my second '94. She came with two FOBs (1 factory/1 aftermarket). Only the aftermarket was working when I bought the car a few months ago. I just put fresh batteries in and tried reprogramming both. Could not get a solid light on PKE at the end of sync for either. HOWEVER, as I gave up and locked the car and walked away she chirped! I went back with both and neither would unlock OR open the doors or hatch. -----Has anyone had this experience before??
So is a 14 Alan key to remove oil cooler? Another video said it was t70
Maybe T70 will work, I don’t know off hand how large that is. But I can tell you with 100% certainty that my bolt was Allen and not Torx.
new brake pads and a new retaining pin (with a new washer and C clip) should work. those wear down first and most commonly. if it still wiggles after that, its gonna be your caliper bracket that's worn.
I was missing the brake pad clips: C4 Brake Caliper Rattle Fix th-cam.com/video/n_aCXUMCsFE/w-d-xo.html
It sounds real bad.
I put clips on mine and it still rattles. Any ideas?
If you put all the clips in, I’m not sure what else it would be.
@@CarsCraftsDrafts even tho the calipers still shake a bit it’s apparently much better than before cuz now I can’t hear them at all when I drive, so all is good. I just didn’t think they’d still have any movement after putting the clips on.
The clip is really just a spring of sorts, you’ll still get a little movement but you won’t get that clunking sound anymore because the parts aren’t knocking into each other anymore. The clips are taking out that slop. 👍
I got this code from the dash and have been experiencing intermittent loss of power/acceleration. Does that sound right? I haven’t noticed a leak
I don’t think there would be a situation where this leak shows a code. I think you have something else going on.
Thanks for showing us everything but how you get the cooler off
Disconnect the hoses and unscrew it with the big Allen key/socket I mentioned. I forgot to film that part, but you just pull it off at that point.
Thanks for this. I also have a 94 White C4. Just tried this and didn't work. New battery in the key fob too. tried 7 times and no response. interesting.
Strange. Maybe the fob is busted. When you shake the fob, you should hear something rattling inside, that’s normal. But I wonder if your board went bad or something. 🤷♂️
@@CarsCraftsDrafts Thanks for the quick reply. It turns out the Trip reset button doesn't work; so that's why I think I was unsuccessful. Thank you!
Awesome, glad you figured it out. After you fix the trip button, let me know if it works.
