    In the last 2 weeks i went through 280 exciting episodes and i don´t know what to do now without my daily dose of humble and professional craftsmanship =)
    I really like your content, your dedication to your work and your friendly and humble way arround other people.
    Everybody in the world knows the landscape of New Zealand from the Lord Of The Rings, but this view of the normal life, the kindness of ordinary people and strangers on the streets and the calm and civil behavior during Covid-Times makes your Island at least as attractive and beautiful for outsiders, as the LOTR-Movies did.
    NZ has a good reputation here and your videos confirm and contribute to this reputation.
    I am looking forward for all the videos to come, even if we build our houses in Germany from stone and a lot of the construction is different. There is always somthing new to learn.
    Thanks a lot and keep going.

    I note you shop at Bunnings. I first had a look at the Bunnings video on weatherboard repairs. It falls well short on quality unfortunately.
    However your video has quality so thanks. It's well timed for me regards scribbers cos I'm recladding with Hermpac cedar weatherboards.
    Plugs were used in the original build. Scribers will be so much easier.
    I'm a DIY guy & lived in this house for 17 years. I'm still finding where quality could have been better.

    Damn this episode gave me a great flashback; about a year ago in the UK, our local homebase turned into a bunnings. It turned from a pathetic fake ikea furniture and cheap kitchen warehouse into a beautiful proper DIY megastore with just about anything you could ever need. Then just a few months later bunnings folded in the UK and it went back into being a crappy homebase :'( RIP bunnings UK.

    • @richardbaron7106
      @richardbaron7106 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, so Bunnings UK made a big mistake trying to re-brand Homebase and generally not understanding the market in the UK all that well. My local Homebase had plenty more stock after the takeover, but now it's closed as a result of whatever problems the Bunnings management faced. Damn shame.
      I'm back in NZ now and Bunnings is pretty much my go-to hardware store, followed by Mitre 10.

    Hi Scott. I really enjoy your videos. I've learned quite a lot from you. I'm not sure if you can get Wedi Fundo Ligno Subfloor Recess Installation Kits there, but I retrofitted a 1/2 bath into a zero clearence shower, for an elderly couple. I needed to lower the subfloor, without shaving off the joist. This allowed the Wedi shower pan to go in, then the tile. Ultimately it was flush with the floor in the hallway. Therefore no need for a ramp.

    Anyone else use a jolt head nail to mark the bottom edge of the scribber? The 3mm offset makes the scribber fit so snug. Mint trick.

    Something romantic about using old stanley tools. Even the beyond repair ones, well as much as you can.

    Hey Scott, when you're doing the Scribers, if you put a 3mm packer on the marking blocks top then draw the line for the bottom of the weather board you'll not get the gap at the top, you can also do this by cutting the wrong side of the line with a 3mm blade. 🤔 Then you'll not be short at the top. You can use more than 3mm it's just if you've got the ability to overhang the bottom it helps, but if it's tight between two sections if you do a test block at the top over one board notch it in like you normally do then put it up you'll have the excact gap from the top required to offset.
