    As I've gotten older, I've stepped away from a belt.
    I've tried just about every type of tool belt including ones with padded suspenders. Even with them, the belt dug into my hips too much.
    I generally set up a workbench and keep my most used tools there within reach. Tape on my jean pocket, pencil in my ponytail.

      Ever tried a vest?

    • @josephgreenwood5729
      @josephgreenwood5729 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Or a waist apron. I definitely don't wear one all of the time, but if I'm dealing with different nail sizes, or on a lift or ladder with a harness, a belt or apron keeps me from constantly scooping things up off of the floor. I definitely agree though, I'd rather not wander all over a job all day with half of the gamebox around my waist.

      It's the old, broken in leather belts that I can wear. The leather grips, so it doesn't slide and you don't have to cinch it as tight. Also, the leather will wear to your hips and you habits. Once it gets to that point, you realize why people have 20 year old belts. I try to be minimalistic as well. On a ladder hanging mouldings, having small prys, nail punches, and just about anything your ever need in hands reach is too beneficial. Both to time and my health

    I disagree with the Stilleto comment. They are fantastic hammers. It's not just that they weigh less, they're easier on your bones. The titanium absorbs a noticeable amount of shock from the force of the hammer strikes. I wasn't sold until my dad bought me one as a gift about ten years ago. That hammer has survived years of some pretty rough treatment. I finally replaced it with a Boss so that I could retire the Stilleto, and I wanted an American-made hammer. All of that being said, a good mallet is definitely critical equipment. I'm still president of your fan-club, keep up the great content.

      The cobra buckle looks so cool. I bought my blue Diamondback bags from someone off Craigslist in San Antonio about 8 years ago for $100. Bags looked new but the belt looked a little older. I’ve been wanting to upgrade the belt to the cobra system. Great bags.

    I've been looking at the diamondback toolbelts lately. There doesnt seem to be a lot of companies that make pouches on the smaller side. It feels like my jobs are getting bigger and bigger so I guess progressing better at anything is being more efficient. I honestly hate big clunky toolbelts that weigh me down and get stuck/ bump into everything like my current one. I go the roof of jobs a llot too so one less trip up and down the ladder is obviously a better thing. Im actually looking into getting some titanium stuff to lighten up my belt as well but as you mentioned the prices are really hard to justify on the nice ones like Martinez. Ill probably get the belt after my next side job is finished.

    Thanks Richard,
    I carry a mobile tool box.
    Ya ,mibile tool box
    Its a bucket boss frames rig.
    Mainly used for when i build decks fill large pouches with screws.
    I am looking for a interior beltto carry tools for inside projects.
    Hun Marine repairman.
    I was Army heavy recovery vehicle operator mechanic from ranks to trucks and whatever else broke down on tge battle field either repaired in the feild or returned to the motor pool
    Look into the Stabila laser tape, it is rugged, built using leica technology, it can be sent to your cell also can measure room volume fast way of estimating shiplap, measures inside and outside i paid 120 on sale.
    Bosch is good , i iwn both leica and stabila like stabila better fits into my hand better rubber coated edge.
    I use it for measuring crown no more tape sag ir breaks as near tye other wall.

    When doing finish carpentry, I remove any type of tool belt that has crap hanging from the sides. There isn't always the elbow swinging room that framing allows. Once you've brushed up against anything that you don't want to scratch or even break, you'll find yourself looking for better options. That one little scratch can cause a bad day and a customer. Framers are pretty clueless about certain areas of finesse.

      Years ago, one of my techs was working in a closet. He was sitting on the floor in the closet doorway, working on a junction in the back of the closet. He shifted his weight and the handle of the Yankee drill in his tool belt tapped the mirrored closet door. The entire thing shattered.

    Missing a 5 in one. I have everything else including the Halder , the Veritas scribe, and the Lie Neilson apron plane. (You should get the holster for that). Funny….I never use the Halder but have the Stiletto 10oz finisher as my right hand. The Japanese nail set is nice to have for finishing.
    Now the kicker.
    I just retired 6 months ago!

    I have the same Bosch laser measure except for in green. It has never done me wrong and it is ridiculously accurate. I would say accurate to the 32nd of an inch even though they only claim accuracy to a 16th. Just don't make the mistake of changing the reference point your measurements being taken from. You'll find out real quickly, you'll have to cut five times and it still won't be long enough.

    @yohanathandowns9057 ปีที่แล้ว

    I find if I'm by myself and I'm cutting a longer peice than I can accurately measure with a tape, say crown moulding, I do trust my Bosch Lazer tape. It hasn't let me down yet. Just get 3-4 reading to make sure it's consistent

    Wow, the price you mentioned on the Halder is absolutely crazy. I remember the one with wooden handle and 40mm head holder, plus several different heads and I paid about 40 bucks. Granted I live right next to germany, but still no way the hike up the price this high overseas.

    Best place for my hammer is right on my butt crack, least interference out of all positions, locating it in the front means I'll be hitting it with my legs.
    Are you using armor in the chisel storage pockets?
    My tape (Fat Max) goes loosely in a single pouch located to the right of my hammer in the back. It's opening up so that I can practically toss my tape in the bag.
    Good choice on the music, Richard! It's a pleasant break from the usual metal guitar.
