Bikes have had to have the lights on when the ignition is on in S.A., or as it's otherwise known " The Nanny state", since the late 70's or early 80's, being an old fart I can remember roughly when it started, except for, as far as I know, Royal Enfield .I've got an 82 Honda and they can't be turned off on that but I had a 2012 Royal Enfield which they could. I've put an LED headlight on the Honda to replace the old one and added a couple of driving lights under it to make a triangle shaped set of lights as apparently this is meant to be safer. I also wear a fluoro vest over my riding gear and a bright white full face helmet. It also help riding with a guy that owns an ex police bike as that seems to make people notice the group. The only problem with that can be if he comes riding up behind you and puts on the siren, although it seem to give him a laugh for some reason,. Another enjoyable video and keep up the good work.
I keep my high beams on, swerve, wear a heavy duty high vis mesh surveyor's vest over my jacket, and made some high viz stickers for my helmet Will be adding new LED lights to feont and rear of bike. Original 2001 Softail Deuce lights need an upgrade.
Oooooor, just speed past everyone that they physically can't see you. But for real, using a horm woth lane filtering is probably one of the best things. Nobody's really hearing your engine, regardless of the exhaust you have on it, especially when the sound is bouncing off of all of the cars.
i got a pack of reflective stickers and stuck a few in a cool design on the back of my healmet and one on a piece of plastic about my license plate too. Also got an integrated tail light that has a brake flasher Another great thing that I got and love, which you touched on, is my Hella Horn. Got a pack of 2 for like $35/$40 and just use the lower tone. But have the other for another bike when the time comes
I like the 'swerving' tip when unsure if others are looking at you. Nice. I've heard totally mixed opinions on high beams in the daylight to increase visibility too. Some say their pro courses recommend it, some say never do it 🤷🏼♂️. Thoughts? Also, don't ride like a knob is solid advice 😂
@@sergeantwombat yeah for sure.... But many say to put the rebel on high beams (the top two lights also) when it's sunny. Obvs normal during night. HB during day.
Great advise on riding practices.... interesting visibility advise from the man who rides a black bike, wears black clothes and a basically black helmet... ok the helmet looks great with the gold...😊
@@Briansgate your right mate 😞 It wasn't that long ago that there was a real variety of colours for most models. Maybe RE is on the right path.with.all their colour options.
Between 4:10-4:20 ya just past my joint, I wont give exact coordinates or you will come and pinch my chockie milks stash.I was thinking it would be a great idea to get a jacket a have hundreds of small LED's sewn into it that flash red when stopping or yellow when turning ect, Or just spell out swear words just for fun. That would be so cool
Learners only, minimum 3 months and max 1.5 years depends on when you want to do your test... not a terrible thing tbh cuz people avoid learners like the plague
High beams all day! I also use my emergency lights if I have to filter a very long line.
Safety is no.1
Greetings from the States, mate. As a future rider, I appreciate this video. Thanks for the valuable advice.
I expect to see you in the discord with pics of your ride when you get it!

having the light on during the day honestly has no negatives so having the new bikes have lights on these days is a good thing

While I agree that they are good for visibility, flashing brake lights are actually illegal in Vic. :( #nannyState
Brother ofc they are... WOULDNT WANT THE DRIVERS TO SEE YOU
