You're Wrong About Super Mario Bros (1993)

( This is a remastered version of my old Squishyfresh Video on the 1993 Super Mario Bros movie. This new version contains entire new sections, different music, new updated thoughts on the Illumination Mario Movie and most importantly, will most likely not be age restricted because of the outrageous title and thumbnail lmao. )
Super Mario Bros (1993) is a divisive film. Many people love it for it's unique take on the Mario lore, while others hate fun and are fuming mad nearly 30 years later. Obviously I love it, but should you? Are you mature enough to admit that it's kinda cool? Sure it's not perfect but this is the type of movie that I'm glad exists. You just know if it never came out it would be the stuff of legend. "Hey REDDIT, I just learned there was gonna be a dark gritty Super Mario Bros movie in the early 90s but it got scrapped! I wish this actually came out!" and then they'd get reddit gold. The point is, stuff like this doesn't usually happen and we should be glad it did.

Honestly when I think about the Mario movies. I just think about the RPGs. Paper Mario, and Super Mario RPG are the Mario stories in my opinion. The live action film, is a great cyberpunk that almost feels it's being hampered by being a Mario movie. While the illumination film is brainrot that's only appeal is Mario references.
Out of two, i perfer the live action purely due to the fact it's actual film. As for games, Super Paper Mario has the best story but somewhat underwhelming gameplay. Browser's inside has the best gameplay, but the focus is more on comedy and characters, the story is kinda non-existent.

The score is terrible? Even haters of the movie tend to acknowledge that Silvestri’s score is one of the greatest parts of the movie.

Maybe terrible is the wrong word, it's more so, they overuse that one song in too many scenes that just don't fit. The music is fine, it's just not that varied

hey, all the Mario movie people I know from Twitter! haha I swear there are the same small few handfuls of us. I did a post there but really need to post a video with the entire police car chase redone. I believe Alan Silvestri composed the bouncy main title with the Mario theme laid over the top and something happened and we got the replacement melody. I worked out a great deal of the music and I'm almost 100% sure it fits and that was the intention. I doubt Alan Silvestri will ever talk about it.
