UNDERSTANDING THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS (2001) TURBO EDITION

- There's new stuff in it I swear. You ever fall off so hard you remake a video that's less than 2 years old? Look, I get it, it's the same video again but HD now and the audio sounds a little bit better, whats the big deal? I don't know, I thought it'd only take me like a week to do, but it actually took closer to 2 weeks, I'm as mad as you are, AND I STILL HAVE TO DO THE 2FAST REMASTER WHICH IS KINDA MORE NECESSARY THAN THIS ONE WAS. We're gambling today folks. Either it'll be a repeat of my Tokyo Drift remaster and blow up and become even bigger than the original version or this will languish at like 700 views and I'll look really dumb. Who am I kidding? I did it for me. It really does something to a fella for one of his most popular videos to also be riddled with amateurish mistakes, low video quality and poor audio. Sue me. Cancel me. I don't care. It's understanding the fast and the furious turbo edition. There's new stuff in it.

Sorry this took so long, I expected this to be a quick weekend project, accidentally took almost 2 weeks and then when it was done I had to re-edit 15 times it get past universals copyright ID system which for some reason was being extra brutal despite this video already existing on my previous channel. I'm gonna do something non fast and furious next lmao
The video still came out great
Still waiting for the oiled up old men of Wangan Midnight 😩😩😩😩 i mean good vid (on a serious note: i love your vids)
Intial D iceberg part 2 - coming soon...?
Did I publicly say I wanted to do a part 2? Well anyway I do eventually, I just need more. I have a few ideas, but I doubt I could even do 10 more minutes at the moment.
@@GhoulCityOnline Nah just joking, trying to do a hypersigil till it turns out to be reality - like me drawing a charachter in my comic getting shocked, only to get shocked seven times by my defibrilator😂
It´s a modernized Wild West movie about Train Robberies.
The Tuna Fight is a bar brawl anyway, replace cars with horses and semi-trucks with trains, the street races can be either gambling on Poker or straight up Horse races and the basic plot of a cop trying to infiltrate some sort of gang works in any time period.
I think it’s great cause everyone had a different take like it’s viewed differently by every
Now I want Point Break with horses, that would be amazing
We can never escape from 2001. It was truly the most important year of all time
I think another culturally significant day in 2001 was September 11th when the legendary thrash metal band Slayer released their album God Hates Us All, which is my personal favorite of theirs. I don't think anything else really happened that day or year tho
That’s right!! Never forget
It wasn’t just the dvd players that caught his attention it was also those tv with the vhs players built in that everyone wanted back then lol
Those fucking things had mono audio. Straight garbage cuz.
TV/VCRs from Panasonic, no less. That's quality.. 😂
@@Marzimus lol we used to have one
@@michaelmiguel6937Richie Rich over here
@ it’s wild to think that people went crazy over a 13 inch tv lol
We riced over after school to watch this opening day. My buddy hit 135 on the freeway in his Celica GTS. Recently revisited Point Break and realized they just swapped the boards for cars (ironically, I surf now instead of tune).. 🤪
"The throne of god is All Wheel Drive" words to live by
sounds like something Terry Davis would say
Every new forza player ever that doesn't know how to drive be like:
"The throne of God is all wheel drive" is the hardest line humanity has ever produced
I wish I had come up with it myself
Technically Jesse was influenced by Brian when he seen him bet his car in the first race…so Jesse death is influenced by Brian pink slip bet
Oh shit. I guess in a narrative movie sense yeah that probably would be why so I'll give that to you, but if I really wanted to still be right, Brian didn't invent racing for pinks. Jesse definitely already knew what that was before Brian. Plus Brian lost. So he really shouldn't be inspired by him lol
Hes a shark looking for a kill, then homeboy smells tuna. That got me 😂
Motorst Engineer here: Yes, you can have 100k worth of mods in a car (heavily depending on the specific car). And yes, the s2000 have one of the biggest tuner community so yes you can trow 100k in it if you really really really and I mean, really want to. At that point there's little to nothing left of the original car.
Pd: Sorry I was not rude or disrespectful like you wanted me to.
after like 50k it gets kinda tough and you’re really just throwing money away
so maybe you buy a 20k ls7 cuz you’re not fitting a big block in an s2k and you somehow fit a twin turbo setup or a big turbo, then you get the trans that’s only 7k, you still have like 50k to blow and even every suspension piece isn’t gonna cost that much, maybe if you replace every panel with carbon fiber to drop weight but you can see on his car he didn’t
Get into engine component machining and get there real quick
@@6lucario exactly
The S2000 was basically still brand new to the scene when the original F&F was released. There was no way to spend a hundred grand "under the hood" of an S2K at the time. It was a stupid line that shouldn't have made the film's final cut. End of story.
@@HenrikHolmesson Correct. However he didn't ask about the specific car in the movie. But (and I quote): " How can a car have 100k worth of mods?"
Although is a silly line in the movie for that specific car, top tier tuned vehicles can easily reach or even exceed the 100k price tag.
I design turbos with high performance applications, just one example: here in Germany 100k is the entry price for the G Power tune on any modern M5.
The opening 30ish seconds is incredible. Love how you edited that.
14:20 the ford lightning does not deserve these strays😭
So you want to waste 100k on a 25 year old Honda? Here's what you do:
Custom carbon hood, trunk, and bumpers - Easily 20k in 2001
Forged 3 piece wheels - $9000
Carbon Fiber Wing - $4500
F20C supercharger kit - $7000
Custom cams - $3000
Forged pistols - $2500
Upgraded valve springs - $1200
600cc injectors and upgraded fuel system - $2000
stand alone ecu with dyno tune - $8000(in 2001)
super special pod filter overnighted from japan - $1200
race seats - $3000
steering wheel with NOS BUTTONS - $800
carbon fiber dash and door cards - $4500
sick underglow for the ladies - $600
bumping sound system - $3000
aftermarket springs on bags - $5000
race slicks - $3000
200 shot of NOS - idk prolly $2000
straight cut transmission with a short final drive - $9000
aftermarket lsd - $2000
carbon fiber drive shaft - $3000
lightweight flywheel - $1500
roll cage - $2000
All of this when you could've just bought a c5 Corvette with a cam and be faster
My favourite movie of all time without a doubt. Every time i watch it, it takes me back to being a kid in 2001. So much nostalgia attached to this film.
@22:00 I used to own a 5th gen Honda Accord Wagon: that’s the gold car in this shot. As an adult looking back this has become my favorite car in the movie
You got that edition out way faster than Capcom would have.
You have some incredible style and a new sub. Fantastic job on this vid. I can't get enough of the first F&F and you covered it pretty well. I'm 22 years late, but I got into the car scene too with my Celica and Supra and I have this movie to thank.
Thank you for changing my perspective of all movies forever.
Amazing video!! Growing up on prime Fast and Furious and Need For Speed truly was special
Miss those days for sure
Been watching your F&F videos and greatly appreciate the initial d sound files in the background
Intro track was HEAT! Amazing video
You have to cover the interlude between the first and second movie showing Brian's arc
What a great way to celebrate the Phantom Menace
The 1st gen 2005 P90X with a 250 shot of NOS was a real killa.
I watched your original video so many times all the little videos ajustement and changes in the script gives me a strong mandela effect its insane😂 amazing job as always
“It’s your Fuel MAP, it’s got a nasty hole”
I love these analysis videos. The first one is alot deeper than everyone thinks, and its all too forgotten. Thank you!
Funnly enough Letty's car was (got scrapped in like 09) actually pink, it's the filter making it look red.
I imagine the director watching this video and saying "this guy gets it"
Man I love the lack of major events in 2001 that definitely don't overpower the conversation about impactful media and culture
I come back to this one very frequently on your old channel, it’s cool to see it on here
As a previous 2005 Saturn Ion (Redline) owner, that I spent every dime I had on, your statement is oddly accurate 😂
Very cool review!
But don't let this distract you from the fact that Hector is going to be running 3 Honda Civics with spoon engines. And on top of that he just came into Harry's and he ordered 3 T66 turbos, with NOS, and a Motec system exhaust.
Neal approached Paul with the idea already in mind, Paul just agreed cause why not lol. Still funny imagining a random man off the streets of Hollywood having a say in a Hollywood production
I loved this video when it came out and love it more now with the HD and audio adjustments.
Has the Fast franchise gone from the tuna sandwich to Fatburger's double cheese and fries for $2.95?
(Gearhead here) if that S2000 had a 100 grand into it, it would be on drag slicks skinny front tire solid rear end, tube chassis on frame set up, and would be the fastest car on that lot at the time (2001)
Truly a movie meant for FAMILY
If anyone really likes fast and furious check out an old Charlie sheen movie named No Man’s Land. It’s free on tubi. The main focus are European cars like Porsche if I remember correctly.
i never thought id hear the end of evangelion Ost in the background of a F&F review😂😂😂
Wake up babe ghoul city online posted another fucking banger !!!
Don't wake her up too much, it's not NEW it's "new" it's like 25% new maybe
Unc you finally posted🔥🔥🔥
When Brian was sprayed by automatic fire they practically traced the outline of his head on the wall behind him😂
million sub quality video, ur gonna blow up
Johnny Tran died with no blowback. Hopefully the next few F&F will fix that.
i watched speed racer because of this
Don't think noone noticed that bit of music from the Initial D soundtrack.
24:08 that is one weird remix
Paul Walker suited up w an MP5 is a a poster that needs to be made 😂
that point break joke was funny af lol
God I miss 2001even though I wasn't even alive during it
What I remember most about this love…how goofy Brian’s gf looked in her driving scenes. So unnatural, uncomfortable.
That intro was sick
This video is amazing
Masterpiece.
I cannot WAIT to watch this again and be confused as to whether or not it's a shitpost...AGAIN!
A generation of people riced the heck out of whatever car they had to mostly hilarious results.
The primms hood cinema of Fast and the Furious 2001
18:08 what’s good. You killed me
Just found your channel and fucking love you. Don’t ever stop.

@@GhoulCityOnlinewhat about the one that plays at the beginning of the video
Great (turbo edition) vídeo, another banger to us thank you again
I love this
You go girl! Turbo edition! (Your videos are legitimately amazing)
I will defend the point break remake to the end, if only for the absolutely insane stunts.
the movie was also released with different soundtracks for different regions
Should've called it tricked out edition 😮
I still have my DVD copy! There's a secret on the menu with an invisible wheel icon that shows the train crash from multiple angles. 👌
24:06 hell yeah i too reek as i have also watched evangelion
You are legitimately the funniest mfer on this website, another masterpiece!
respect for doing it, sadly i dont think ludacris is in this ;-;
Roads closed ghoul city boy, find another way home
P90x joke was 10/10
Bobs Market it's in Echo park in LA.. Dons house is up the street.. I went by there the other day...
amazing vid :D
This video was my breakfast, didn't even removed the crust
$100,000+ Upgrade Guide (as foretold by prophesy or Ghoul City)
a) $2300 Spoiler (bolts onto can boot to "spoil" your ability to look backwards)
b) $3500 Racing seats (being comfortable ever again or possibly better at winning a very short race at some theoretically now inevitable point in your future. Choose one)
c) $45 Extra wide clip-on chrome exhaust tips (Far cheaper than the installation of any actual modification to the car's factory installed exhaust system yet visually identical to disinterested casual observers from only 16' away *and* potentially doesn't cause automatic retention retraction for any later coverage under manufactures warranty)
d) $160,000 Rolex watch (Stored unsecured in otherwise empty glove compartment. Causes horrifyingly expensive sounding noises from passenger-side dashboard during even the most trivial changes to the car's inertia. Problem remains extremely noticeable across the entire ownership period of the car due to driver's insistence that passengers' must never interact with any element of the car's interior combined with driver's own personal fear of opening the glove compartment themselves owing to the additional ongoing trauma load calculations that any actual assessment of the currently unknown levels of damage that is currently only known to have definitely occurred within would enable. This state of destructive-consequence-temporal-offsetting quantum flux eventually resolves itself by itself complete with an unequivocal declaration of mentally-dismissed-of-any-guilt after the car suffers sufficient non-structural cosmetic damage attempting to reverse blindly out of a car park to justify its being sent to a car crusher with the contents of the glove compartment having been temporarily "forgotten about" until after any potential recovery of the miraculously undamaged watch has been eliminated with extreme prejudice)
Miltek is a exhaust manufacturer
i think i’ll write a novel based on your description of the original script then adapt a comic//manga of it
hell yeah
You can easily put 30k into an engine not including labor, that specific s2000 did not have 100k but if you have the money it is definitely very easy to spend that on modifications
Duuude the Evangelion music 😂
the throne of god is all wheel drive is peak insaneo bible posting and im there for every minute of it, i recommend everyone go watch that video and laugh
My man drop the ost list (idk 50% of it and i need it)
You would love Jacky chan’s Thunderbolt movie. Its even better than the FF franchise. I swear.
You should do a understanding interstellar video
end of evangelion mentioned
Fire vid
You're acting like Chief Hawk wouldn't rule his area like a warlord.
Tuna sandwich... I mean A Tuner sandwich
Whats the name of that little "celebration/jingle" song at 16:23

@GhoulCityOnline hahaha I knew it sounded familiar! Much appreciated!
dope
Where is that opening song from?
burger king foot lettuce
When he water… oil boards the mechanic Johnny implies that the mechanic stole a couple of sr20s that were supposed to be in the s2ks. So setting aside that he was downgrading his engines 💀. Given the engine he mentioned and time the movie takes place they were probably custom forged internal parts to be able to take the extra pressure of nos and or turbos to add power. In the early 2000s this would’ve been pioneering engineering for the tuning scene. So while in the context of the movie placing the Jetta against the s2k is foolish given the weird roundabout modding done to the s2k it made the race actually screwed to the Jetta that very well could have been either 1.8 4 cylinder with turbo or the vr6 which was vws swing at larger engines and could easily make high horsepower
Can we get a link to that analysis by vicmillar? I cant find it.
Unfortunately he took down the website. I kinda wasn't sure what to do with that section when I decided to re-edit this video. I still feel like I need to give him credit but he also no longer hosts the article so I have no idea if he would even want to be credited. However I did show the entire article in my video, it's not ideal but the best option you have is to just pause and read. Sorry I can't help more than that
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOO i’ll have the tuna boss
Tool song spotted
What song is that at 16:51? I know I’ve heard it before but I can’t put my finger on it.
th-cam.com/video/dQw4w9WgXcQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=DqTDADXFr7tqCv4c it should be this

it's time to talk about john wick
Well, just imagine back in those days a stand alone computer work just $10,000. Everything was very expensive back then now we got so many Chinese parts and manufacturing and companies. They they can make a lot of parts faster and easier and cheaper compared to those days that’s why was so expensive meaning they eve The car were $100,000 in Racing Parts. It means they spend a lot of money in this true thing with hundred thousand dollars parts equals more.
