    8 months I've been making videos. Editing takes me about 6-8 hours. I can't believe I'm searching for "how to edit faster" only now xD This is soooooo helpful!

    I've been editing in Final Cut since the dark ages. These keyboard shortcuts are going to save me a ton of time. Many thanks, Peter!

  • @chris
    @chris 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    1:59 "E" you used "Trim Start" but what that does (for me) is the same as what you set up for "Q" as "Trim to Playhead". For "E" I used "Trim End" to remove everything from the playhead to the end of the clip.
    But--actually since I use "Q" a lot already with FCPX, I decided to map them using the number keys since I never use those:
    1 - Tim to Playhead
    2 - Blade
    3 - Trim End
    4 - Blade All
    That made the best sense to me logically. Thanks again for this though... it's going to save me so much time!

    • @JamesWongLife
      @JamesWongLife 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've just copied your number settings, cheers! Btw you know how to get the playhead to blade text and not the video? Right now, I have to click on the text everytime I wanna blade it and it makes doing subtitles lonnngggggg

    • @chris
      @chris 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JamesWongLife Awesome! Also no, I am not sure there's a quick way to do that other than selecting the text first. I know how tedious it can be so I feel for ya!

    • @JamesWongLife
      @JamesWongLife 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chris I’ve resorted to using “blade all”. It chops up my video timeline too but other than making it a bit messy, I can’t see a downside. Thanks!

  • @SonnyGreenwichJr
    @SonnyGreenwichJr 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I did B for Blade, [ for trim start, and ] for trim end. This way it stays as FCPX had it minus the command button modifier. Positive vibrations from sunny, cold and not so windy Kinsale! ☘️☮️🤘🏽🤠👍🏽☮️☘️

    Great advice. I have assigned G & H for Trim to Start/End. G & H since their close to JKL, but adding them to the left-hand position on the keyboard is also a great solution. I am just amazed seeing so many "pro/tutorials" editors that use manual blade, delete commands.
