I created custom shortcuts for 200%, 400% and 800% speed using Shift 2, Shift 4 and Shift 8. So if you used the automatic speed shortcut on a clip (which I think you told me about before) then you can hit R to activate the range tool, select a range and then hit Shift 8 for example to quickly create a speed ramp. 👊🏼
Did not even think you could speed ramp that easily, thanks@@Brad_West! I have different speeds set up just 2,4,8 and 50% 5. I wish there would be a fast option for 1000% and 2000% speeds also..
@@FromAverageToWarrior Yeah I also wish there was an option for 20x speed. I can use the shortcuts for the others, but for 20x I have to go into the dropdown menu like some sort of wild animal. 😅
After working through the FCPX Color Grading Masterclass (highly recommended - review coming soon), I created a custom Effect that loads a Color Wheels, the MotionVFX mLut Installer (after the wheels), a color curves adjustment with a super slight S-Curve on the luma curve and a HSL Curves Adjustment that has a LUMA vs SAT adjustment ath desaturates the lightest and darkest parts of the image and a SAT vs SAT adjustment that ups sat in the least saturated areas and reduces it in the most saturated. I set it as my default Effect so Option+E and I'm loaded for color grading with all my basics out of the way. Saves a TON of time.
Great Shortcuts. I've never played around with Custom Keyboard but it's about time I do , make the workflow so much better - Thank you! btw is there a way to create a shortcut for adjustment layer?
Ya just assign it to your default lower third. That's what I have mine set to. So right click the adjustment layer in your titles, hit 'set to default lower third', and then it's control shift T I think
My end cuts are F & T I use forward rewind with W & D. I have tons of other edits, but primarily my goal was to use my left hand on the keyboard and my right hand on the mouse and never have to change that.
There ya go , giving out the good stuff again ! crazy good ! thanks ... trim G&H keys is gold and trim to range is a game changer ! oh and C next to V is fab !!
@@dylanjohndickerson Haha 😆 did your acoustic foam stink? Mine seemed fine at first but when I left the studio door closed for a day I realized how bad it was 😂
Great video again, thanks for reminding about some functions I definitely should use more often, and definitely-definitely should fine tune my shortcuts more often.. I'm also a huge fan of one key commands, I have created a memo for most used shortcuts, but tbh never look at it, too complicated.. That sticky note idea could work much better. Thanks and have an AWESOME day!
Great video! I have a question that you might be able to help me with! I have a Swedish keyboard and therefore there are no tilde key on it. I’m thinking about the move clip freely function that you often talk about. I cannot find it in the shortcut menu or anywhere else so I can’t change the symbol to another one and therefore can’t use the function… Any tricks for this one? Thanks!
Thanks so much! I thought I mentioned it, but maybe not. Just search override connections in the top right search bar and assign it to any key you want.
This video really improved my workflow. this might not be possible but is there a way to export these shortcut settings into a pdf/or some kind of document (for reference bc I changed quite a bit) or you have to manually go over it and write it down somewhere ?
Спасибо большое. Примерно 50% я так и назначил уже ранее. Значит мы чем-то похожи. Обычно я убираю клавиши модификаторы из горячего сочетания клавиш в тех случаях которыми пользуюсь очень часто.
Hey Dylan! On the topic of audio, how do I raise the audio of an entire role? For example all sfx or audio track? In da Vinci it’s very simple because that role has a global slider but I can’t find one in Final Cut Pro. I also can’t find the peaking meter for audio tracks?
Hey! I believe you can go to the index in the bottom left of the UI. Select the role and then hit Command + or Command - (or + or - if you followed the tip in this video). I could be wrong though.
I would love to see a 2024 setup video. Just interested but you don't have to take this comment serious. I been took your advice on adjusting the keyboard shortcuts.
Even faster than using the keyboard, is assigning shortcuts to my TourBox NEO. Way faster workflow than having to use the keyboard at all, as my left hand never leaves the TourBox and my right hand stays on the mouse. That is if you already have a TourBox. :)
Do you have any customized shortcuts that you use often? 🤔

Thanks so much for the love for the course, Matt! I really appreciate it 🙏🏼
Wow. This is fantastic. Thanks. Have you ever used color finale pro? Wondering if I could accomplish something similar there
The course fully covers Color Finale as well 😉 www.fcpcolorgradingmasterclass.com @@david243121

I do not use Color Finale Pro but from what I gather from the taking the course there are no presets that you can save.@@david243121
This video is clickbait. I’m now editing 11x faster.
😂 with how fast you already edit, I'm not even sure that's legal.

Final Cut Pro didn't allow me to make the change for the blade tool to make it a simple "B" press.
It should! Did you make sure to switch the top left drop down menu from default to your customized keyboard option?

Nice! Kind of like my keyboard with the trackpad under it. Everything I need to press in a small area.
Can we set keyboard shortcuts to our favorite audio clips. I would love to just be able to drop my favorite whooshes with a quick button
Unfortunately no. That'd be awesome though. I just use a separate library with all my favorite stuff on there and copy it over.
