Very interesting. I am German, and i happened to have Heinz Tomato Ketchup in my fridge. On my label ist says that it is made from 174 g of tomatoes per 100 g ketchup, 50 % less sugar and 50% less salt than regular Heinz ketchup and the ingredients are tomatoes (174 g per 100 g of product, vinegar, sugar, salt , spices. Since we don't have the "serving sizes" on ours , only the kcal etc per 100 g I actually broke it down to the serving size indicated on yours, which is 1 tbsp (17 g), so here goes: Kcal:10,88 fat: 0 g total carb: 2,94 g thereof sugar: 1,87 g protein: 0,238 g salt: 0,153 g Indeed a big difference. Now on the breakfast cereals Germany looses out, we don't have all these sugary things. We have some, but very few (all american expats complain about it), we are more a "Müsli"-country, you can find so many variations of it (Müsli = granola). But mind you, many of them also have too much sugar (for Germany's standards, probably still less than American granola - I assume). But like in the US, also in Germany and probably all of Europe we have grown more and more conscious about the ingredients, flavorings, colorings, sugar etc. I think it's a good thing. Very nice video!
I moved from the UK to the US 30 years ago and was so shocked at the inferior food in the US. It seemed like everything in a packet, jar or bottle was adulterated. Full of artificial ingredients. European foods are much better.
@@lindaeasley5606 actually she's right, the UK supermarkets work on a different model to many other countries. They don't hold stock in back rooms, what you see on the shelves is all the stock there is and they recieve deliveries daily. Its timing is incredibly tight. It frees up prime retail space and let's them slash prices. The bagged salad you bought for dinner was probably still in the ground 24 hours before. It is good, but coronavirus showed its weakness. Unplanned runs on stock can cause it to crumble but all in all, it works.

Stop saying things like "supposedly the most advanced country in the world"! In what way is the USA advanced? This just isn't true,in fact, the US and s backward in so many ways. Wake up Americans. Your country is a for profit corporation and there is no system in place to protect the individual citizen or to keep you healthy.
When I visited the US for a holiday I ended up losing weight as I couldn't eat most of the food. Anything packaged tasted like a sugar bomb to me. It didn't even taste like a 'real' or natural sweet flavour, it almost had a synthetic taste
This is so true. People in America should know that things that they sell you in the stores some or most things are banned in Europe or even in Canada. Be careful.
Big food has bribed the FDA into allowing cheaper ingredients. The FDA is corrupt and cares NOTHING for your health, allowing food dyes, toxic preservatives, sugars, alcohol, and tobacco to (1) make you addicted to junk food for more profits and (2) make you sick for the medical and big pharmaceutical companies to treat you! Go Keto or Carnivore and eat whole single ingredient foods to be TRULY healthy!

I live in Germany and when I saw that Coke bottle I frantically checked my little Coke bottle next to me and was glad relived to see that it uses Sugar instead of Corn Syrup. One thing that I noticed when my brother brought candies from his trips to the US is, that sweets are a LOT sweeter than what we are used to here in Germany. I have a sweet tooth but when I ate American chocolate I could really taste nothing but sugar and some odd flavoring, I think it was Hershey's, it really didn't taste anything like the chocolate I'm used to. That is not to say that I've such a perfekt diet, I'm just slowly beginning to eat smarter and I just started pretty recently to do so.
I can agree that pastries, for example, that I grew up eating in southern Spain ( am American by birth) are half as sweet as what you will find in the U.S. Am watching this video for first time😀.

I was born and raised in Europe and during the first few years after I moved to the US I was shocked to find out how bad the food here is and I was struggling seriously with stomach cramps, discomfort, bloating, digestive problems, nausea. It took years for my body to get used to the food in America. I try to eat healthy but I don’t feel healthy at the same time.
All industrialized nations in North America, Europe, and Asia are experiencing more diabetes, heart disease, and cancers! Fast food and processed crap have infiltrated every country on the planet!

i've lived abroad in spain the last 3 years and it's crazy how fresh the food is!! i remember one of the first things i had was canned chickpea soup (tired and just arrived airbnb dinner lol) and i was so shocked at how homemade it tasted i couldn't believe it. no weird chemical sounding ingredients in almost everything here. even junk food like cheetos has actual flavor. the european heinz ketchup is defintely better. much richer tomato flavor and not coyingly sweet. it's really not fair that corporations can do what they do but they have money and wield politcal power to write laws to protect them. hopefully we the consumers can change that in the future
I'm from the Bronx but I live in Rome. I can't imagine eating American food after living here for over a decade. People in the US don't understand they are not eating real food. Thanks for raising this important issue Bobby. I moved back to the UK last year after 15 years in Chicago (ironically in Lakeview - on Oakdale - so I get homesick for Chicago & TJs whenever I see your older videos!) I downloaded your app when I lived there, so it shocked me how many things you warn about, we just don’t have in the UK. For example, when I moved back to Oxford, I kept looking for grass-fed/finished meat - only to realise almost all meat over here is grass-fed, which is why it’s not written on the labels. It’s the default. Same with chlorinated chicken and GMO. We literally don’t allow them here. I still have to look out for many dodgy ‘natural flavourings’, oils & preservatives, so your app is open constantly - but it’s sad to know the FDA isn’t protecting its own citizens. Glad to know you are, though... :)

Now I finally understand. Growing up in Germany Fanta was my absolute favorite drink in the world then I moved to the states and at first I didn’t even recognize the Fanta I wondered why the Fanta in Europe was a light yellow color but here it’s this dark orange color and it tastes horrible here compared to the European version so now I know it’s because the European one had natural color hence why it was so light and here it has artificial color hence why it’s so dark and the other huge difference obviously that I did know about before is that over there it’s made with sugar here it’s made with high fructose corn syrup. On the very rare occasion I drink soda these days it’s only if it’s the pepsi made with “real sugar” it’s so sad that here it has to be a selling point to say it’s made with “real sugar”. So the end result of the American Fanta being so much more synthetic is that it tastes nowhere near as good as its European counterpart which is nowhere near as synthetic.

I’m American Mexican and I always tell people that like nestle powder(strawberry, vanilla or chocolate flavored) to buy it from the oriental aisle because it has better ingredients than the one in the cereal aisle.
So true!
Bobby is out here really changing lives. Thank you, man.
Since we don't have the "serving sizes" on ours , only the kcal etc per 100 g I actually broke it down to the serving size indicated on yours, which is 1 tbsp (17 g), so here goes:
Kcal:10,88
fat: 0 g
total carb: 2,94 g
thereof sugar: 1,87 g
protein: 0,238 g
salt: 0,153 g
Indeed a big difference.
US food corporations and pharmaceuticals are in the same team...

I moved from the UK to the US 30 years ago and was so shocked at the inferior food in the US. It seemed like everything in a packet, jar or bottle was adulterated. Full of artificial ingredients. European foods are much better.
@Hopper33 produce has very short shelf life so it doesn't sit around for months . Over exaggerating
I buy very few processed foods. Ignore all the center aisles.
Funny that I’m from Portugal and have been working in the uk for 17 years and I think God in the uk is off lower quality than Portugal. Packed vegetables? Packed meats? Supermarkets in the uk are littered with food that’s bad for you.

How can we demand better from the FDA? I'd love to see a video about accountability.
My daughter brought home some cereal, when I flipped it over I read (in small print, not on the ingredient list) that it was a bio engineered food!!!! How in the world are our food suppliers allowed to market and sell frankenfood food here in supposedly the most advanced country in the world
Thank you Bobby for teaching us to read labels and check ingredients
Unbelievable what’s in “food” products 🤦🏼♀️
Same happen with penauts m&ms
Stop saying things like "supposedly the most advanced country in the world"! In what way is the USA advanced? This just isn't true,in fact, the US and s backward in so many ways. Wake up Americans. Your country is a for profit corporation and there is no system in place to protect the individual citizen or to keep you healthy.
Almost everything is bioengineered. Look for nonGMO project verified.
I think GMO foods are a lesser concern than other issues with food
When I visited the US for a holiday I ended up losing weight as I couldn't eat most of the food. Anything packaged tasted like a sugar bomb to me. It didn't even taste like a 'real' or natural sweet flavour, it almost had a synthetic taste
Aspartame has replaced sugar in many packaged foods; especially candy.
Try to grow your own food, to the extent of your possibilities.

I live in the UK, I think because we have the Universal Healthcare system, if people get sick, it will be the government to shoulder the cost so definitely prevention is better than cure, whereas in the US if the people become sick, its thier problem and business for the Healthcare & pharmaceutical sector.
People who are low income are on Medicaid and our seniors are on Medicare both government paid.
It's also business for the weight loss industry.

Very true
I can agree that pastries, for example, that I grew up eating in southern Spain ( am American by birth) are half as sweet as what you will find in the U.S. Am watching this video for first time😀.
You are so right. We went to Mexico on vacation, and they had European style dessert there. Our friends didn't like them. I could t figure out why. I ate them and they were delicious. Very true. America sells garbage and dangerous ingredients and chemicals to their own people.
You would think the opposite is true since we are a more advanced country but when profit comes first then it makes total sense. Thanks for sharing.
All industrialized nations in North America, Europe, and Asia are experiencing more diabetes, heart disease, and cancers! Fast food and processed crap have infiltrated every country on the planet!
It’s all about money 💰the more advanced a country is, the worse it will be because corporations get too greedy and the government lets them get away with a lot of things, U.S. leads the world with health issues for a reason.
Its all about the Benjamin's! Our country is going down the toilet.
i've lived abroad in spain the last 3 years and it's crazy how fresh the food is!! i remember one of the first things i had was canned chickpea soup (tired and just arrived airbnb dinner lol) and i was so shocked at how homemade it tasted i couldn't believe it. no weird chemical sounding ingredients in almost everything here. even junk food like cheetos has actual flavor. the european heinz ketchup is defintely better. much richer tomato flavor and not coyingly sweet. it's really not fair that corporations can do what they do but they have money and wield politcal power to write laws to protect them. hopefully we the consumers can change that in the future

You shouldn't suppress coughs!! That's your body trying to move excess mucus. Most often extra mucus and coughs are caused from seasonal allergies. If you suppress the cough the mucus sits, causes infection, and makes you sicker for longer.

Food Babe has been amazing at getting companies in America to remove harmful chemicals and to expose all of them!
yes she has!
Had never heard of her. Thank you for the recommendation, @Klimt Kahlo!
The food babe is a quack who has been called out many times by scientist for saying extremely inaccurate things. When you point this out to her she immediately bans you instead of trying to defend her untrue statements.
@@Ryan_DeWitt Is it out of the realm of possibility that the scientists could be quacks themselves? I mean I've seen COUNTLESS scientists called quacks when going completely left on a mainstream narrative. Even one of my relatives, Jacques Cinq-Mars had to learn this the hard way.
Interestingly, for artificial colors, the opposite happened with Irn-Bru from Scotland. They couldn't export it to the states because of a couple controversial dyes, one of which is "Ponceau 4R." Since 2002 a different formula has been available here, but the drink is still hard to find without ordering it online (or attending the Highland Games here in Portland.)

BHA and BHT were banned in the 70s. I remember. I dont know when that changed. They also banned a certain red dye in the 70s or 80s. That was in red M&Ms etc. In the 70s I knew that.
