Our review of Codemasters latest installment in the Operation Flashpoint series is here, can it continue where Dragon Rising left off.... hardandsoftgaming.wordpress.com/
As a NAVY veteran AND LE Officer, I have played through the Dragon Rising, and now just completed Red River, and was impressed by the vastly IMPROVED AI. (Let's not forget IMPROVED gun sounds, and weapon modeling!) Yes, they (AI) do cross your fire zones from time to in combat, but it also happens in real combat; albeit not as often. I thought the simulation of the tactics and immersive ness of the dynamic combat/situational awareness was the best I've seen yet. I consistently had to employ team tactics to defeat/control objectives. MW2,MW3,BC3,BFBC2,BC4 etc; I've played them all. But, they all amount to what is run and gun action, with little or no tactics required (in the single player). I can tell you, this is NOW my favorite military shooter. (shooter sim?) As far as the LACK of online multiplayer, I say they made the right call. The resources were used VERY wisely! Look at BC3, servers are ghost towns. MP gameplay is only as good until the 'next big fps' comes out. You can still occasionally find servers on the big titles, but it's only a fraction of what it once was. With co-op gameplay, INCLUDING system link, friends, co workers, etc can play matches, FTE, campaign missions together for a long time after the games popularity has died down. Like I said, they made the right call.
Fjappemail Red River was a generic arcade piece of shit. I'm not even going to call it Operation Flashpoint, because the original was made by Bohemia Interactive. The true successors are the ARMA series. Not this nasty pile of rotten shit Codemasters pumped out.
+4houghts That sucks this series was so good, the problem for publishers with supporting the dev team for games like these is that it aint CoD and it wont appeal to the casual market, so it wont sell millions of copies, thats probably the reason they arent doing one.
Loved this game, I feel that it is reasonably realistic simulation of modern Afghanistan-like combat. Especially at the beginning of the game, wish they had kept it with us fighting the Taliban though. It just didn't have the same feel after China showed up.
HATERS GONNA HATE It is pretty hard so..... yeah that game was ugly(NOOBS said) As for me it was one of the most awesome and realistic FPS games i ever played n i really enjoyed playing it
And who are u to say that i dont understand the game sir ? or maybe u just said like that cuz im only a girl !! and i said noob here cuz most of the people i know say it is not good game and when i ask why they say it is hard and other stuff so i say to them" u r noobs " :P as for me i love it and it is one of my fav
I couldn't stand this game when I bought it because it's so slow. But I gave it a second chance, I loved it. This game really appealed to me when I learned to appreciate the sacrifices of the Marine corp.
Most of the glitches have been removed since launch, OA was patched last year with an update to the AI which makes them much better (also, most people play online anyway...). The Lag is only an issue if you put too many AI on the map and don't have a good enough PC to handle it.
Very proffessional review..I might wait to the price drops a bit before i buy it. Got the first game just after release only to learn about 3 months later it could be bought brand new for £15 :(
It's a shame, I loved the series even dragon rising but code masters ended the series at red river so there will never be another game, I was kinda hoping that they would make a flashpoint for XBOX ONE but they ended the series.
This is one of the only tacticle shooters on xbox. Yes there are plenty on PC but for xbox... I think this is the only one. (Well there is rainbow six but I don't count that one)
@@Danicx11 yeah consoles got fucked over with tactical shooters. Siege definitely doesn't count since it's become a ridiculous money sink hero shooter.
@123EllDude the review suggests that this isn't as realistic as the last one, so you could try that. It's not without it's faults tho, and a pretty frustrating platinum to get.
So im lost at which game to get. dragon rising I think has more of a arma feel to it but its ai sucks but its multiplayer is better then red river. Red river on the other hand is better ai with better graphics but multiplayer isnt near as good and is getting a more feel that a normal first shooter like bf has which one do u guys recommend? of if i do get it it will be for a ps3. one other question are the servers for the 2 games still up?
I agree with all that. What I was basically saying was...there's so many things that are bad about this game...and people were choosing mainly to complain about the long car rides. Dumb.
People compare it to CoD because CoD is the dominant gameplay style in most First Person Shooters these days making them copies and generic. CoD is the death of many FPS franchises including stuff like Battlefield and This which get more and more generic with each title. This franchise wont be revived again because of how much they tried to satisfy the CoD players. BF3 is NOT realistic. I've never heard of military forces getting 15% more speed and people getting revived 5 times in a row....
@wierdo1232123 Yeah I agree. COD has competitive gameplay but at the cost of really shitty and lacking story modes. But I never hear people say "Wow, great multiplayer, but the campaign isn't that good." So why does a game with an awesome campaign like Red River HAVE to have competitive multiplayer? How many online multiplayer war games does one person need? That's not what this game is for.
this game is really cheap and awesome to play i mean i got it of play.com for £2 brand new :L best bargin !! and theres no winy cod fan people which doesnt spoil it :D really reccomend it :)
Because 20 million people play Call Of Duty games so they give out a trailer showing nothing but ground breaking gameplay, tactical advantages. Then you get the game and the whole 2 years they were being lazy drinking coffee and looking for ways to farm in the Call of Duty players in for more money.
No, we were fans of the series and reviewed it based on what we thought at the time. People have different opinions, and that's fine, this was two of ours having played through it over a weekend.
having played through dragon rising i kinda had high hopes for this but the lack chopper insertions and extractions and limited roll you played made the game forgettable. A editor would redeemed the campaigns shortcomings. shamefully i cant see another flashpoint game ever happening again, still at least we have arma 3
i'm so angry at this fucking game cuz i have yet to kill a single person and i'm 3 hours in AI KILL! ALL THE ENEMIES before i get to them it's like im in a lounge just command them to kill people damn! im glad i rent this shit!
Most people don't complain because lack of action. Its lack of realism aswell. ALso this game is low quality shit. Not only is it unrealistic and non-tactical, but the ''story'' doesnt exist. Its just a lot of swearing. THere is no freeroaming, SDK, map editor, and no ability to play as a tank commander, pilot etc. No PVP either. This game is SHIT and thats why the series is CANCELLED. Arma s the real flashpoint

Looking for a friend to play this with what console you on?
You may want to try out ARMA. The best military simulator on the market
Gerald Deliva no.
Fjappemail Red River was a generic arcade piece of shit. I'm not even going to call it Operation Flashpoint, because the original was made by Bohemia Interactive. The true successors are the ARMA series. Not this nasty pile of rotten shit Codemasters pumped out.
I thought this game was great.
I love this game. Beat it so many times. Make another one people!
I would live to see a new one, on next gen consoles and PC
+4houghts That sucks this series was so good, the problem for publishers with supporting the dev team for games like these is that it aint CoD and it wont appeal to the casual market, so it wont sell millions of copies, thats probably the reason they arent doing one.
it really is a great one of a kind game.. and the survival missions are fun, it would of be great to have a 2 player split screen option
Can i but it from you..I cant find it for xbox anywere
@@rataide99 the people that gave life to ofp are the o es who make arma games now.arma is really the real original ofp
This game is actually an awesome shooter! I got it today on the humble bundle and i'm loving it!
haha same
Joshua Benton does it still have games for windows in it ?
Humble bundle?
@GoldeneyeMarine Why does every game nowadays have to have competitive multiplayer?!? You don't need that for replay value!
My man
Wish they make operation flashpoint redriver 2
I think it sold very little copys.i cant find this game for xbox anyplace
@@zimworlddee919 . its only 50p in Cex in the UK.

Great shooter. A nice change of pace from COD. Very immersive

Literally playing this for the first time. Played Dragon’s rising and loved it

What Anime Is Your Profile Picture From?
Oda Nobuna no Yabou
thanks! =)
If you think Operation Flashpoint is difficult, then you won't have a good chance at ArmA.
Still a greater challenge though.
berzu21 Get a better computer.
berzu21 Are you mad? I'm being serious, the game runs fine, if it doesn't its because you just can't run it, thats all.
berzu21 Not to mention mod support. 'Operation Flashpoint' feels like a dumbed down version.
DC Koh that's because it kinda is if you know the story about the developers and stuff
Now this is what real war looks like
Still play this 13 year old game in 2024!
Drill sergeants are only in basic training. He would be a platoon sergeant, the one who takes full command if the Lt is down
Most underrated shooter there is IMO
I couldn't stand this game when I bought it because it's so slow. But I gave it a second chance, I loved it. This game really appealed to me when I learned to appreciate the sacrifices of the Marine corp.

I freaking hate when people demand a reply ASAP... this is TH-cam, we don't owe you a reply ASAP, or ever

@@Danicx11 yeah consoles got fucked over with tactical shooters. Siege definitely doesn't count since it's become a ridiculous money sink hero shooter.
what do you think is more realistic? Dragon rising or Red River?
They took everything that was good with dragon rising and threw it away. They CODyfied it.
anybody still play this on PC? steam has a sale and wondering if it was worth it
Is it similar in any way to the original ghost recon 1? Loved that game and trying to find one similar
@123EllDude Most likely if not return it. What do you got to lose?
There are no drill sergeants in combat especially in the Marines
@RedRiverChannel Totally agree, this reviewer must have played it for 5 minutes before doing a review on it.
Are there explorer mode where you you just explore the map like in dragon rising
@123EllDude the review suggests that this isn't as realistic as the last one, so you could try that. It's not without it's faults tho, and a pretty frustrating platinum to get.

I cant find this for my xbox any damn place .its the only ofp i do t have .do anybody know were to buy it
To the guy that asked if we had herd of arma..
Arma started operation flashpoint and now codemasters. Have released 2 of their own...
The music was too loud couldn't hear half the things He said
how long does it take to download?
Should i get it
Had this game on ps3 tried download it from PS store on ps4 but there's no option
Isn't there possibility to nail the hardest difficulty to increase realism?
Are the servers on the ps3 still up someone plz reply ASAP
this and Dead Rising is the real deal..not shitty BF and COD
LazerTron87 i do agree with the Cod bit but battlefield is still my favourite
The demo is only 2gb or so, you can get it from BIS' website. It took me half an hour or so to download the demo.
I love this game
yes
Best maps and graphics
Very well-ballanced game. In this game you feel the weapon unlike in any other game
I play it in 2022
I agree with all that. What I was basically saying was...there's so many things that are bad about this game...and people were choosing mainly to complain about the long car rides. Dumb.
Good review!
Sadly it seems, this channel has been dead for 10 years now.

Its really hard to hear you over the music mate.....
What the.... NO competitive Multiplayer at all? Damn that sucks.
This is Good 👍

You will never find a military Sim for the xbox or for the next gen consoles.
Mind a open world one with a couple hundred miles of space.
I like Turtles!!!

It's difficult tho so much easier when you get the hang of the keyboard which took me a while. Plays a lot better

Get ARMA 2 instead for realism.
