OpFlash is a tactical shooter and battlefield simulator video game published by Codemasters and developed by Bohemia Interactive Studio
The game uses the same engine, Real Virtuality, as the military simulator VBS1. Set on a group of fictitious islands in 1985, Operation Flashpoint puts the player on one of three sides in a hypothetical conflict between American and Soviet forces. The Resistance is the third playable faction.
Two expansion packs were released; Gold Upgrade, which included Red Hammer, a campaign from the Soviet perspective, and Resistance, which introduced various new features and improved graphics and sound effects.
An Xbox port was released in 2005 under the title Operation Flashpoint: Elite. Operation Flashpoint was praised for its attention to realistic combat. - ภาพยนตร์และแอนิเมชัน

The arma 3 remake is good though. Especially after 2 and 3s bad campaigns

The Arma 3 remake is decent, but the aesthetics and atmosphere are just not there. There was just something about the art direction and the design of vehicles and landscapes in OFP that's so appealing to me even today. Hell, I still play it too.
It sucks how the later Armas moved away from these great single player campaigns, since the multiplayer is literally the same thing in the next gen iteration of the same engine - it comes off as an overall downgrade in quality.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising was really good too, and open-world to boot, leading to lots of tactical freedom. It even had a day-night cycle that you could use to your advantage. Don't want to attack an enemy position in the afternoon? Wait until nightfall and catch 'em sleeping. You should try it, if you haven't.
I discovered this game in 2022 after being a long time Arma fan. I had heard about flashpoint and how it was the roots of what was to become the Arma series but man oh man when I finally decided to see what the nostalgia hype was about....this game is probably one of the best gaming experiences of my life and I enjoy it way more than any modern Arma title. I am also saddened too, I was a child when this came out and I feel like I missed out on enjoying a core memory...I would have obsessed over this as a kid. This game's simplicity, scale, and charm make it more enjoyable to me than Arma 3 but thats just my opinion.

Delay in sending commands is understandable, it is a simulation not an FPS designed for children. U can switch to gunner position as a tank commander and still order the tank around. That is the easiest way to play.
I played this game when I was in middle school in 2001 and your voice reminds me of my friends at that time.

7:45 When you are a tank commander you can choose driving it. I personally sit on the gunners seat cuz you can command and shoot and navigate at the same time. Navigating the tank with someone else as the driver might be a bit tricky but you will manage to learn it in no time
Why didn't you mention the mission editor? the campaigns and missions are literally just examples of what's possible in the editor.
I assume because if you're going to buy a game for the editor you would buy Arma 3. But the old campaigns still hold up.

Something is special in this game which is not in arma 2 & 3 , its old ass graphics , empty field small size characters makes it more realistic, we can see huge ground as well as sky in one sight, a tank approaching , mi 17 flying towards us everything was on point ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Regarding in-game saving: Hit SHIFT and MINUS on the numpad, then type "savegame".
I had this game many years ago, loved it but lost the game. So I bought another one but it didn’t have as many levels on it as my previous game did. Nor did it have the stationary vehicles that were all parked beside eachother for some reason.
Can anyone help ?

Holy crap, I picked up a jewel case of this game at good will a week or two ago on a whim, and haven't played. I'll have to install it tomorrow now that I know it's his good. Hell, as I type this comment I see it on my bookshelf right next to the first warhammer game and my night vision goggles.
I still find my self playing ColdWar, Rise of Nations, and many older games. Simpley because they are true art of gameing!

Hey man, never got to play these as a kid probably would not have enjoyed it or appreciated it I remember playing arma when it came out and then since got the campaign mods in arma 3 which really excentuat the scale of these.

Yes! The original OFP Cold War Crisis/Red Hammer/Resistance GOTY trilogy has more soul than the ARMA series. I never really got hooked into the ARMA series - for single player, even though ARMA1,2,3 have much better graphics and some improved technicalities. Bohemia Interactive just the whole package feeling right in original OFP.

Hold shift and press - then type savegame. It only rewrites the one save file tho so make sure you are safe when you do this.

If you say it can be played in single player also that is really cool. I had awful times with Arma 2 and 3 while playing Single Player. Clearly they aren't optimized for that sort of thing.
The first ARMA isn't half bad, but yeah, the SP mode has never been strong.
Arma 3 was made just as a mod platform.
Base campaign and Resistance are marvelous, definitely fun in SP.

You know? This is the only game not descending from DOOM... In truth, it's ascendant may be more SEAL TEAM (DOS 1993) rather than DOOM.
Well, just check it out... SEAL TEAM was a tactical 1993 FPS, where you commanded a small platoon of SEALS... It reminds me of Ghost Recon AW.
Check it out on any abandonware site, and if you like it... Buy it (on GOG if it's still there).

Eh...The Sp mode was gutted with incredible graphics and multiplayer being implemented instead.
Operation Flashpoint is one of the few games that offers a transcendent immersive experience. I don't think I've been so convinced I was fighting in a real war against real people. Unfortunately I gave up around the point you have to control your own squad, that's not really my cup of tea.
after you get the hand of squad controlling you can easily dominate your enemies.
having at least one man with MG in your squad placed in the right place and giving him orders to who to shoot is really great since the AI soldiers have a great accurcy even at lower ranks.
issuing orders for players gets really benificial as well since you tell your squad mates where your enemies are at.
in the end, i must say that caring for each member in your squad (even less armed ones) is a key to winning in many cases

Played the original as a kid but just bought it on Steam for less than a dollar and played Resistance campaign .. for a nearly quarter century old game this is amazing, drew me in again for 30 hours

O well maybe couple years later or so hmmm? Maybe you could barrow you examined life of gamings copy i saw it on his wall during his review of another and i asked himto review but got nil response. He dosent seem to be using it, or if he is using it, he damn sure isnt reviewing it because i would have saw it on his channel. In fact, both OFP and ArmA I were remade for ArmA II, so buying the Complete Collection of that essentially nets you four games (OFP remake, ArmA I remake, ArmA II, and OA) and the three smaller DLCs expansions (ACR, BAF, and PMC).
You'd probably get more sheer content out of that than even ArmA III.

get this game(also known as ARMA) and download as many mods as you can.....you will lose yourself for countless hours using the mission editor....it's not perfect(even with mods)but it is a large step in the right direction!!!!
this series almost resembles the delta force series with the GLORIOUS textures never got time playing the games.
