- In this video I am showing you an experiment about propagation of lucky bamboo plants. We will find out how to propagate lucky bamboo plants faster from cuttings in water.
We are going to progate lucky bamboo in today's video and i did an experiment which took me around a month that i am going to show you today and its is about the vase of the lucky bamboo which i used in the propgation process, i have used a tranparent glass and a normal houshold cup that is non transparent and we will see which one grows faster roots in the cuttings. In this video i will show you how you can propagate it faster. In the end of this video I am going to show you the roots that came out within 23 days and tell you some very important tips about the propagation and bamboo plants care.

Yes, I am an elementary school teacher and have done many experiments with plants, so I loved yours. Seems like we can draw the same conclusion. Roots prefer darkness and grow down to find soil and leaves seek sunlight so grow upward to find light ;-)
You are absolutely right 🍃👍
Thank you for this explanation about root and leaf preferences. ❤
Had to come back to this, so left another comment for the algorithm. Stellar information, thank you again!
Awesome, thank you!
I love your videos so much!!!! I just discovered you, and immediately learned so much and became more inspired to make this a hobby. Because of your videos I don’t have to be so frustrated about not knowing how to care for my bamboo. Never quit making these videos!!!!
Awesome! Thank you!
I agree 💯🎉
Wow amazing 😮👏
Awesome video!
Thanks for the visit
Thank you this made better sense
Glad it helped
شكرا ضبطت❤
Thanks nice not sure of the bamboo variation I have but will be giving it a go... have you tried adding more of the donar plant alo
Lucky Bamboo
I’m going to try it 😎
👍🏻
2:50 Per the non-transparent glass, I don't know why but I've noticed the same with my Hoya Motoskei! Roots form much faster on the cuttings vs. ones in clear glasses. My theory is it simulates dirt or something? Makes the roots think they're underground.
I think roots don't need sun, they grow better without light, like when they are underground in soil.
By cutting off the growth to put in water, what happens to the stems they come from? Does it grow more leaves? Or die off? Thanks
It will shoot another leaf from nodes. But it takes time to grow . It doesn't die
@@GreenBackyardthank you 😊
i am going to try this although i dont have aloe, hopefully my plants root!
It will still root, may take a few more days .just change water in 6-7 days and place them in bright indoor light.
I’m gonna try this I’m gonna transfer my mother plant from soil to my aquarium and then cut one of the stems and also propagate the roots and keep it in my aquarium nice clean water
Sounds great 👍🏻
Professionals say that once you place your lucky bamboo into soil you can’t transfer it to water, it should stay in soil. But you can cut parts of the main plant and the transfer it to water and it will be ok.
@@Sunshinespeckoh really… somebody told me they make thwir cutting to eoot by pkantin gin the soil beacuse it grows root faster than in water. It would only take one week for the cuttings to have roots. O guess i will trt both merhods of rooting
I'll be more patient and wait for 23 days
You will see tiny root bumps like teeth 😃 first.
Could i use something else besides aloe gel? Like a fertilizer, maybe?
Not fertilizer, you need rooting harmone Or just use nothing.
How long do yhe roots have to be before I plant it in soil
@@tonystarks9150 atleast 3-4 inches long.
Did you say let them sit with the aloe juice on tips then place in water an hour later?
NO, just coat the aloe vera gel at bottom of the cuttings and put them in water.
The clear glass acts as a magnifier to the light , making the water and roots warmer, roots usually grow underground in dark soil in nature. The temperature under the soil outdoors is different than the temperature in the home in a glass . The roots are the feeding system from all the minerals in the soil. The leaves are in charge of capturing sunlight, the process of photosynthesis which makes plants green. The roots are like your mouth, food goes in transports to the stomach , then digested and passed to the colon then into the bloodstream to feed all your cells. The stem is like the colon delivering nutrients to the plants entire structure. Think close to nature as possible when trying to keep things alive. Fish in an aquarium, plants , dogs cats anything you are keeping in an unnatural environment. And try to replicate that as best you can.
what do you do once it’s grown roots!? mine is now at this stage and i’m not sure if i should continue to keep it in water or move it to soil and rocks
Move it soil and take care of it. Fertilize time to time. It will grow faster.
@@GreenBackyard thank you so much
Ive heard that if I jjust leave tap water sit out, the chemicals will diffuse out of it. Is this true?
Yes it's true, most of the chemicals evaporate overnight.
They dont like direct light
Nice to know I’ve had mine sat in my window since I got it lots of direct light but have recently been thinking about transferring it to my aquarium and propagate it and my tank doesn’t get any direct sunlight
My 7 or 10 roots is still yellow....can I cut the whole root section and will new roots come....there is only 1 branch now with 1 leaf!!!! Changed the water and washed the pebbles etc.
It's hard to save in that case. Cut the roots, roots regrow overtime. Take proper care, it may survive.
My bamboo has been growing for 10 years and I didn’t realize I needed to propagate until now. Its shoot is over 2 feet tall and getting too heavy so now I’m researching but will my large shoot be okay to propagate? Is there something else I can do other than cut it off?
Also will my stalk continue to grow?
You can trim upper part of the shoot to propagate it ( not the full shoot) in this way your existing stalk won't look leafless. Propagate the 6 inches shoot or something like that, when you cut the shoot, there is a good chance, it must grow another shoot from upper node. This is what I can say 👍🏻
How do i know when to plant it in the pot?
You can plant them into soil anytime after rooting but I would say wait for 3 more weeks, so the roots get bigger 👍🏻
Why not put straight into soil?
For the looks

So you need aloe vera? Because i don’t have any
It will grow without aloevera too. But not in the cold weather.
I done the same but they are not developing roots even after 25 days
How's the weather over there?? Is it cold?

Mene yeh kiya tha but woh work nhi kiya
Kabhi kabhi nahi bhi hota hai. Aap fir se try kariye, bottle water use kariye, aur aloevera ya fir rooting harmone powder use kariye.agar weather according hai to roots nikal aayenge 👍🏻
