  • In this video I am showing you an experiment about propagation of lucky bamboo plants.We will find out how to propagate lucky bamboo plants faster from cuttings in water.
    We are going to progate lucky bamboo in today's video and i did an experiment which took me around a month that i am going to show you today and its is about the vase of the lucky bamboo which i used in the propgation process, i have used a tranparent glass and a normal houshold cup that is non transparent and we will see which one grows faster roots in the cuttings.In this video i will show you how you can propagate it faster. In the end of this video I am going to show you the roots that came out within 23 days and tell you some very important tips about the propagation and bamboo plants care.

    Yes, I am an elementary school teacher and have done many experiments with plants, so I loved yours. Seems like we can draw the same conclusion. Roots prefer darkness and grow down to find soil and leaves seek sunlight so grow upward to find light ;-)

    2:50 Per the non-transparent glass, I don't know why but I've noticed the same with my Hoya Motoskei! Roots form much faster on the cuttings vs. ones in clear glasses. My theory is it simulates dirt or something? Makes the roots think they're underground.

    • @GreenBackyard
      @GreenBackyard  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I think roots don't need sun, they grow better without light, like when they are underground in soil.

    By cutting off the growth to put in water, what happens to the stems they come from? Does it grow more leaves? Or die off? Thanks

    • @GreenBackyard
      @GreenBackyard  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      It will shoot another leaf from nodes. But it takes time to grow . It doesn't die

      Professionals say that once you place your lucky bamboo into soil you can’t transfer it to water, it should stay in soil. But you can cut parts of the main plant and the transfer it to water and it will be ok.

      NO, just coat the aloe vera gel at bottom of the cuttings and put them in water.

    The clear glass acts as a magnifier to the light , making the water and roots warmer, roots usually grow underground in dark soil in nature. The temperature under the soil outdoors is different than the temperature in the home in a glass . The roots are the feeding system from all the minerals in the soil. The leaves are in charge of capturing sunlight, the process of photosynthesis which makes plants green. The roots are like your mouth, food goes in transports to the stomach , then digested and passed to the colon then into the bloodstream to feed all your cells. The stem is like the colon delivering nutrients to the plants entire structure. Think close to nature as possible when trying to keep things alive. Fish in an aquarium, plants , dogs cats anything you are keeping in an unnatural environment. And try to replicate that as best you can.

      It's hard to save in that case. Cut the roots, roots regrow overtime. Take proper care, it may survive.

    My bamboo has been growing for 10 years and I didn’t realize I needed to propagate until now. Its shoot is over 2 feet tall and getting too heavy so now I’m researching but will my large shoot be okay to propagate? Is there something else I can do other than cut it off?

    • @holliteige4711
      @holliteige4711 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Also will my stalk continue to grow?

    • @GreenBackyard
      @GreenBackyard  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can trim upper part of the shoot to propagate it ( not the full shoot) in this way your existing stalk won't look leafless. Propagate the 6 inches shoot or something like that, when you cut the shoot, there is a good chance, it must grow another shoot from upper node. This is what I can say 👍🏻
