  • Learn how to configure VPLS tunnels between MikroTik routers in order to span Layer 2 services from one location to another. This video will give a brief summary of what VPLS is and how to configure this on a Mikrotik router via the CLI as well as Winbox.

    And what I´m do if the customer wants both? L3VPN and VPLS / L2VPN? VLANs? More Tunnels between the CE and PE?

    with Ros7 the vpls id should set like:&1:1 an & should be added before or you will get an error.

    this was a great video, just a couple of questions, in the video did you use MPLS/LDP protocol or it was just a normal L3 IP network, also is there any changes on routerOS 7...??? as am trying to replicate the same and the tunnels is not coming up...

      I used MPLS/LDP in this video, there are changes in v7.

    Can you do a video about traffic engineering? 🥺
    Thanks for the video I myself have a TH-cam channel and I do Mikrotik stuff in a different language than yours and I know how hard is to explain this on a simple way.. And you did a great job at it. I'll share it with some colleagues hopefully that can get you a few subs..

      I could definitely do a video on TE as well as L3VPNs (VRFs) for people who are interested. And thanks I highly appreciate your words :D!

    If I want to pass vlan, what I should to do?

    Is MPLS and LDP needed before VPLS interface comes up? I followed your guide but using public IPs and VPLS interface does not get running.

    • @TheNetworkBerg
      @TheNetworkBerg  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, MPLS & LDP is a requirement for VPLS to run.

    Hello, thanks for the simple style guide. Is multiple VPLS connections possible over IP Transit from a single public IP to another single public IP? Is there a port that needs to be open or works like EoIP and GRE without any ports needing to be open? Any firewall rules needed when doing this over IP Transit? How to diagnose issues of no linking at all? Thanks.

    • @TheNetworkBerg
      @TheNetworkBerg  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      VPLS does not work like EOIP or VxLAN, you are not going to run this over public internet. If that is a requirement I would suggest going to RoSv7 if possible and using VxLAN

      @@TheNetworkBerg Thanks. Have you used VxLAN over the internet? I wonder if it is any better than EoIP or has less overhead. Otherwise, why use it versus EoIP. I am looking to bond multiple EoIP or similar tunnel to get more upload speed from four coax internet connections and then creating a single layer-2 tunnel. Is there any other tunnel technology in Mikrotik (Version 6.x) that does full layer-2 with bridge and vlan capability?

      @@TheNetworkBerg Have you tried running MPLS, with VPLS over a network that connects sites with IPsec, using OSPF for route advertisement on mikrotik ?
      I am curious to see how much of an impact the encapsulation of frames and the crypto headers will have.
      I will actually probably lab this

    At 5:50 th-cam.com/video/qIXZfnHNxdo/w-d-xo.html you create a bridge, but when you added the interfaces to that bridge you linked them to the Loopback bridge not the new bridge you created.
    so why in the testing was it able to ping through? That should not have worked.

    • @TheNetworkBerg
      @TheNetworkBerg  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi KC, good catch! The reason this still worked is because LO bridge is still technically valid, it's just a name where I happened to put both interfaces into. If I placed the VPLS interface on the VPLS bridge and the ethernet interface in the LO bridge it would fail. But since both interfaces were placed in the same bridge it worked. Although I am certain I wanted to place both interface in the VPLS bridge I created, but just accidentally added them to the LO bridge.
