    How to add BGP-VPLS to Bridge with VLAN(VLAN Filtering enabled)?

  • @TheNetworkBerg

    Many viewers have asked me if there is some way to get EVE-NG PRO cheaper, I approached their team and they have given me a discount code that people can use that want to get EVE-NG PRO at a lower price. Note I do not make anything out of this discount code. It was simply given to me because I asked for some way to give my viewers EVE-NG Pro at a better price so that you do not have to wait for Black Friday to get a better deal
    Code: VBERG10M
    Happy labbing all :D! (It is 10% off the purchase, every bit of saving helps)

    Hi Network Berg... Waiting for ansible ;)

    • @TheNetworkBerg
      @TheNetworkBerg  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hehe, will get to it soon! I have created labs using Ansible and MikroTik before and it was swell (Though I will probably have to relearn some stuff) If you want to see something right now I could recommend Greg Sowell he is a creator that has been uploading to TH-cam for YEARS and is very experienced!

    Hey Berg,
    i'm not sure what is the purpose for VRRP between CPE1 and CPE2, and one more question.
    Does vrrp need to be /32?

    • @nikolashuminosky6987
      @nikolashuminosky6987 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      and also, i think vlanx it does existing on v7

    • @TheNetworkBerg
      @TheNetworkBerg  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Nikola, the VRRP is not required for the VPLS this was mainly to showcase that a protocol like VRRP that runs over L2 is able to communicate between routers using the VPLS. As for a use-case scenario I think this would be ideal for running a DR (Disaster Recovery) on your server infrastructure where your machines could share IPs in a passive-active state, however, should the primary DC go down you can fail over to the DR without much configuration changes needing to happen on the server side as default gateways will remain the same and traffic will route normally.
      And yes I checked now and VXLAN does exist on v7, though this is still beta and I would recommend not bringing Beta features into a production environment. So I will only cover VXLAN on MikroTik after the offical v7 release (With the extra bug fixes that need to come after such a major release hehe)

    • @TheNetworkBerg
      @TheNetworkBerg  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Although it might be fun to lab VXLAN on MikroTik even in Beta so I might even put that in a stream somewhere :D!

    Can you setup a backup or secondary route reflector with this design to avoid a single point of failure?

    • @TheNetworkBerg
      @TheNetworkBerg  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you can definitely add a secondary RR to add redundancy to the solution. Will see about creating a new video with this topology to get that done, there are two preferred ways I can suggest. One being a bit more practical and best practice than the other but both ways allows for redundancy.

      @@TheNetworkBerg Thanks for the quick reply. I run a small network with 9 sites and we are testing this type of design in our lab and might update our current LDP signaled VPLS with this design. Great videos, keep up the good work.

    can you give us more info about "VPLS Control Word"

    • @TheNetworkBerg
      @TheNetworkBerg  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Nikola, this is definitely something we can revisit in a tutorial or in the livestream. In essence the control word is just information added to the header to make sure the routers do not confuse the information given as IP but to make sure it is seen as a Mac-Address.

    thank you for great explanation. What version. of ROS you used ? I migrated my lab to 6.48.3 and vpls is not coming up. BGP session established, but VPLS in DB state.

    • @TheNetworkBerg
      @TheNetworkBerg  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi vasja, I was using version 6.48 and 6.48.1 in the videos. I've seen some complaints about certain things on version 6.48.x so it might be a software bug in .3, though you would have to log a ticket with MikroTik to verify, unless this is just for your labs. I could also recommend version 6.47.10 as that is considered the "long-term" version.
