  • In this video we will be covering what MPLS is and how to configure it on MikroTik routers via the CLI and Winbox. We will also be verifying that the MPLS is working, as mentioned an IGP like OSPF is a prerequisite before you can implement MPLS on the network.

iv done everything the same, but when i do some ping between routers, wireshark display only regular icmp requests/replies (without mpls labels header) ?

    Hi I got a question.
What happens when I do have a Wireless Link between the router For example a Powerbeam 5AC 620 into a Routing on stick on each Tower.
    R1 vlans trunk 20,30,30 ------- Switch ---- AP Wireless Link ---------- ST -------Switch vlans trunk 50,30,40 ----------- R2
Do I have to change MTU stuff or left it like that?
    Thank you

Would you be able to update this tutorial for RouterOS 7 ?

How MPLS/LDP decides actually decides for which routes it distribute Labels?🤯

Hows it man . nice video , please tell me if i have 50 x R4011 and i want to do mpls vpls across ...and the whole network is running with ubnt AF5xHD and jumbo frames enabled on the radio ..do i need to changes any thing on the 4011 regarding MTU size ? .just need to get a few pppoe across the network ...btw im noob to mplz vpls ....i make use of eoip but its ALOT of overhead ....AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIDEOS !!!

Hello Stefan, this isn't a question I can just say yes add Jumbo frames of your MikroTiks by just changing the MTU to X value. I would first confirm that the boards can do Jumbo Frames by visiting wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Maximum_Transmission_Unit_on_RouterBoards
Glancing over the docs I can see that the 4011s do support Jumbo Frames, so in theory it should be fine if you change the interface MTU from it's standard 1500 to whatever size you have set for your radios. Note that you should only be changing the MTU sizes on interfaces of your provider network. Do not change the MTU for your customer faces interfaces for Jumbo as the customer will still only be using 1500 MTU as that is the MTU size for the internet. Jumbo frames essentially just help with throughput on or between provider networks but not for the actual internet itself.
You could probably keep your MTUs to standard if you start using MPLS with VPLS Pseudowires and replacing your EOIP that has the overhead. I might suggest watching the first 2 or 3 videos of my latest stream where I have configured OSPF as an IGP to do MPLS and configured VPLS tunnels for a client.

And what can I do with the learned addresses now?

Do enabling LDP only adds any value, or is it useful only when/if we need VPLS,EVPN etc?

Well, sure it definitely adds value besides just doing stuff like VPLS,EVPN. It can also allow for stuff like VRF spanning with BGP. The mapping is essentially used to import and export route targets for route distinguishers.

What does it mean if LDP Neighbor show up and than diseapear from the list, than it comes back for 2 sec and goes away again?

Hi Vuli, there are too many different reasons for that, more than likely there is a L2 issue between your routers if the LDP neighbor keeps dropping. Please get in touch with a MikroTik consultant to check it out with you.
