When I first started watching this video, I had thought it was a random "TH-camr" giving the details. Come to find out this is an official HPN video and I'm impressed with the level of comfort (friendliness) and straightforwardness this video provides! Thank you!
You fixed everything, but the most important is Customer Service. That is the only reason im still thinking if i should switch. I got the Cameo 4, and am having problems. No service.

It sucks that they didn’t make the E mat compatible with Cameo 4. That decision seems greedy. You have to buy a new machine to have access to the E Mat
Hi there! The only difference would be the size they accommodate. The 5 can take media that is up to 12" in width while the Plus can take media that is up to 15" in width. Hope this helps! - Ronnie
Both cutters can handle balsa wood with the appropriate blade. The Cameo 5 is a little faster and quieter and it's the newer model. So that's what we would recommend.
Hi there! Both are stepper motors. If you are looking for a servo motor, it'd be something more industrial like a VinylSystems Evo, GCC Puma, or Graphtec :)
Does the cameo 4 a good job on paper too? You mentioned the cameo 5 is great for paper but it's over my budged... I'm worried the 4 won't work well with paper
The adhesive is what holds the media in place while it's being cut. Without it, the media would move around while the blade is passing over, ruining the cut. So if you are using an adhesive-free mat, you'll need to secure your media in place somehow. Masking tape should do the trick in most cases.
The Cameo 5 is able to cut thicker materials with the Kraft Blade, available in 2mm or 3mm. There are some specialty craft woods, like balsa wood, that can be cut if it is within that thickness range.
What if I buy the 4 and the Cameo updates their Design software that will no longer work with the Minimum System Requirements: Windows 7 or higher or Mac OS X 10.10?? Cricut Design space just made some updates and older macOS systems will not work with Design Space. What if Cameo does the same and people are stuck with a Cameo 4 that will not work??
Neither. They have NO customer support and simply refuse to respond to emails. We he have a Cameo 5 I bought it for the wife as a Christmas present. So far after several weeks all it does is turn on and blink the blue Bluetooth light at us. We’ve got 32 devices online no problems with Bluetooth and network connection. The network sees the Cameo, it the Cameo refuses to connect. And check this out - the Bluetooth is a dongle - not onboard as with other devices. Pure junk.

Honestly, I have watched about 10 videos on the "Cameo's VS the Maker's" and also Cameo 4 VS 5. This one helped a LOT - thank you.
Glad it helped! Thanks for watching :)
Those 100% are definitely worth it. Who wants to work with a loud noise
unless you are on a budget
Thanks for this Jared and the HPN crew. I appreciate you. ❤❤
But does the Cameo 5 work with the paper feeder? The most important part for a small business? :)
I would like to find out it’s sound level. The cricut is quiet and want to compare to the cameo 5
Great video sir! My wife tasked me with finding the right machine for us and this was extremely helpful.
Pls update 14" cutting area

Thank you so much for the info, very helpful!

Does anyone know when the cameo 5pro 24inch comes out?
I got a graphtec ce7000-60 think I'll get the 5 just because. Or the juliet
Why's that?
Great overview!
you are adorable and informative. I enjoyed this video and feel like I learned what I need to. Thank you!
Thanks for the kind words!
What is the difference between the 5 and 5 plus?
Hi there! The only difference would be the size they accommodate. The 5 can take media that is up to 12" in width while the Plus can take media that is up to 15" in width. Hope this helps! - Ronnie
The Cameo 5 is a 12" cutter, while the 5 Plus is a 15" cutter. They share all of the same features otherwise - print & cut, max speed, tools, etc.
I am new to Cameo 4 any advice for cutting thick 1mm + heat applied vinyl settings and blade type would be great
Fab video ,thanks
Will there ever going to be a pro version? Out of all the reasons, this could be the main one to go with the version 4.
Hi there! Yes, Silhouette has announced their 5 Pro version. It is called Silhouette Cameo Pro MK-II.
Thank you for the info Jared and HPN. Happy crafting!🙂
Great video thank you
If I want to Cut balsa Wood should I go for cameo 4 or cameo 5?
Both cutters can handle balsa wood with the appropriate blade. The Cameo 5 is a little faster and quieter and it's the newer model. So that's what we would recommend.
Does both servo motor powered or old classic?

Does the cameo 4 a good job on paper too? You mentioned the cameo 5 is great for paper but it's over my budged... I'm worried the 4 won't work well with paper
Hi there! Yes, the 4 will be able to cut paper as well :)
Good video thanks
Any reason that adhesive less mat won't work with cameo4?
The adhesive is what holds the media in place while it's being cut. Without it, the media would move around while the blade is passing over, ruining the cut. So if you are using an adhesive-free mat, you'll need to secure your media in place somehow. Masking tape should do the trick in most cases.
Does the cameo5 cut wood at all?
The Cameo 5 is able to cut thicker materials with the Kraft Blade, available in 2mm or 3mm. There are some specialty craft woods, like balsa wood, that can be cut if it is within that thickness range.
Hi there! Silhouette has Kraft Blades that can cut through thicker materials. They have been tested on chipboard, acetate, leather, and craft foam.
I do a lot ref magnet product (0.5mm to 1mm) what do you suggest? cameo 4 or 5?
Hi there! Both cutters have a 3 mm height clearance :)
got it. thanks

If you don't need the extra functions from the 5 just go with the 4 as it is cheaper
Will the cut images I’ve purchased for my Cameo 1st edition in 2010 still work on the cameo 5? TYIA
It will still use the same cut files. If yiu want svg files, you will need the program upgrade if you don't already have
Me watching with my cameo 3
I always get the notifications an hour late 😢

Time to upgrade your computer
I have cameo 3 & 4... I used cameo 3 than cameo 4...
