Wow, I just realized what a sucker for punishment I am. xD When I have to use my holo laminate, I make whole separate file to cut out the shapes on that without the regestration marks and manually align and place them after I've cut out my stickers. LOL HOWEVER Now I'm thinking of cutting the regestration corners on my holo sheets using the cameo and laminate the whole page, that sounds so much easier! To me at least. Thank you for the video!
That does sound like the hard way!! 😅 It's OK, though. When I first started, I missed the whole transfer tape part. I was trying to line up a million tiny pieces. 🤣
Super helpful, thank you! About to attempt my first laminate use and wondered about how much to add where. I have very little material to test with. I found some old window cling material and made some wine glass markers. But, they aren’t waterproof so any drips are a disaster. Laminate should arrive today. Hoping that helps and I can make a few sets to sell at my only craft fair this year.
I love your videos! You have become my favorite Silhouette TH-cam creator! I just wanted to mention that I was able to use the full sheet of holographic laminate over my registration marks on my Cameo 5. I was cutting circles for ornaments, and they were perfect. My room is not very well lit though, so perhaps that's a benefit for me in this situation? Also, the holographic I used wasn't the same pattern. I used a shattered glass pattern, and also one with little star-type images. Perhaps it wasn't as reflective or something? I'm very much looking forward to learning more from you. I especially like your Silhouette Studio tips and tricks. There is so much to learn in the software. I do love the software!
I would be so happy if my machine would read the marks through laminate. 🤣 The print and cut feature seems to be different on every machine. So weird. I'm convinced it has more to do with the lighting in the room than the sensor. Something that is massed produced can't possibly have that much variation, right??
i think i just found my new BEST FRIEND!!!! i am new to Silhouette. i got the Cameo 5 and i have had nothing but issues. looks like you will be great to learn from.
Not specific to using laminate, but if I’m doing print and cut on super glossy or colored cardstock I cut little squares of white sticker paper and stick them on the corners before printing. Less of a chance of mis registration like your first laminate try. Might lose a little space near the marks, but worth it to avoid the loss of a whole page.
I’ve managed to cut off the registration marks from one page and tape them onto a failed page and get an accurate cut. It doesn’t always work, but when it does I’m able to save part of my page at least.
Hoping you do a video on the new embossing tools for the Cameo 5. I got them, along with the mat, but don’t see how to easily do the score and then embossing. Don’t think I have the embossing button that seems to be specifically for the Curio. No tutorials on the Silhouette site.
I'm also interested in this. The embossing tools, foiling heat pen and ES mat haven't landed in the UK yet though. Here's hoping they are available soon!
After you print and insert into the cameo, do you just hit cut in the software? What do you mean by bumping your blade up one? Sorry I bought the % with stattic mat just to start learning print and cut
After the cameo is loaded, click on send at the bottom. If something doesn't cut well enough, you can send it back through as long as you haven't unloaded the mat. Before I sent it back through, I adjusted the blade depth in the software so that the number was 1 higher. So if it was showing 3 for a blade depth, I increased it to 4, then hit send again.
@@silhouettesuccess thank you very much for explaining that to me. I've been using a rolling GS 24 for years so I bought a couple cameos for plus out of 5 so the print and cut is new to me and I've hardly ever used the Cameo so all the lingo in the terms are something I have to learn thanks again for your help
Thanks for sharing! First time silhouette user and struggling so bad! What sticker paper do you use? If it's Silhouette.. can you recommend an alternative (cost wise..). I'm using HTVront and I think the paper just isn't compatible or I'm just doing something wrong.
Hi Brenda, great tutorial. I was unable to download the print and cut cheat sheet. I have just converted to a Silhouette Cameo 5 after having a Cricut maker and am trying to figure out all the different things that I can do with the Cameo 5 and am looking for tutorials on how to use all the accessories that are available for the Cameo 5 & what to do with them. Will you be doing tutorials on these?
I will be doing more on the accessories after the holidays. I had to fill my piggy bank back up. Lol. I'll have to look at the cheat sheet. It's strange that it didn't work. Did you get an error message, or was the link broken?
Thank you for the tuto. Question - with cameo 5 it is mentioned we don't need to use a cutting mat but you are is it required? I am getting a cameo 5 and it is my first cutting machine and i don't have any cutting mat or other accessories. Could you let me know if without a cutting mat this still works? Thanks
I was hoping you’d check the cut accuracy of the ones on the bottom right, most issues I’ve encountered in cameo 4 is the cut goes off towards the bottom right
I probably should have, but they all cut correctly. I rarely have any issues with print and cut. The only time I have problems is if I cover the marks with laminate.
omg thanks for this! I just realized i did not enable the registration marks! Can you do one tutorial where you need both kisscut and diecut on 1 paper? pleasseeeee
I have to put the paper way further on the cutting mat else the laser doesn't go low enought and stops. When I do that Its looking for the left bottom corner one but ends up over the line... getting registration failed every single time ... don't know what I'm doing wrong. I save the file as a pdf and send it to my fine as the printer uses an app. Printing it without any problems and then trying to cut it but doesn't work.... any tips?
My guess is that the size is getting distorted in the process. It's best to print from Silhouette Studio and make sure that the page setup matches the printer size.
I am new to this whole scene but started an etsy shop selling stickers and laminate sheets are unreliably being read by the Cricut I have. I was hoping Cameo 5 would be better, but seeing its similar issue. are there any machines that can do this? I always though more light was better, but is less light better? thanks
I always trim my laminate before I put it on the sticker sheet so that the registration marks are left uncovered. Light absolutely interferes with the sensor, creating shadows and glare. I get the best results when I close the lid. I don't know of any craft grade machine that will read through laminate.
hi, I am having fits here trying to Print and cut. I am using svg files. I set up the files and print to my colour printer and then when I send to Cameo first I weld the lot and try and cut, thats how I was told to do it. Is this wrong?
Can you do a video cutting die cut ? Can it be done in 1 pass? I currently use cricut and cutting is so easy 😅 no need of second paces or changing numbers in the program
I'm sure it could be done, I've just never messed around with the settings to perfect it. I find I get cleaner edges with 2 passes for a die cut, but that could probably be eliminated by adjusting the force and speed.
If I upgrade to cameo 5 having business edition already, will I get business edition upgrade with purchase of machine or will I have to buy the business edition again?
You will keep the Business Edition. That is on your computer and can actually run multiple machines at once. You can activate your license key on up to 3 computers at a time.
@@silhouettesuccess I have. And actually, I am having bad issues with my silhouette program and it’s like pulling teeth to get the company to do anything to help me get it worked out. Surely the business edition is updated for the cameo 5 from the cameo 3? Or is it the very same program?
