Pro Tip: if you’re still using an old cameo and want to cut foil or oil slick sticker paper, put matte transparent tape over the registration marks. It also helps if you change the setting to manual registration versus auto. Takes a bit longer but less waste of material.

I saw a video of someone testing products on the static electric mat and while flat vinyl sheets were fine, vinyl coming off rolls wouldn’t stay down. Curious to see if others will have this same issue. You’ve convinced me to switch to Silhoutte from my Cricut machine. I’m going to get the Portrait 4 and maybe the 5 plus the next time there’s a good sale

I have a 4 plus, got it because I needed to be able to do larger print and cut jobs, tried several times to get it to work, no luck it would never read the registration marks. It’s boxed back up and I’ve tried to sell it with no luck. It’s basically brand new and boxed up

yeah i think this is the "upgrade" alot of people been waiting for. The registration marks was a big one for me. all my other cameos i was never able to successfully do a print and cut.
the repeat job is what I missed the most on the 4. So interested in upgrading, but really don't do much with the Cameo anymore. But this gets me excited!
Thank you. Very informative. You got me sold when you said that they rebranded the matt, so that it won't be sticky anymore. I sell stickers, and that was one of the gripe I had whenever I use my Portrait 3. Definitely getting one once it's not sold out.

I didn't read through all the comments, but a quick fix for the machines to reading the registration marks is to put a piece of scotch tape over where it scans the marks. Never had a problem after that. I use this on the Cricut, but I'd imagine it would work on others that are having the same reading registration issues. GL!
these things are little work horses. like i said, i cut just about every day and i never had to replace my auto blade. my cameo 3 and cameo 4 have operated on the stock blade that came with the machine. haha
I have a cameo 4 pro and love it but I don't use the 24 inch mat. I use the 15inch mostly. I did notice how loud it was compared to the cricut and although iv gotten used to it I'd still like a quieter machine and yes, I have an led lamp specifically for the print and cut feature because you do need light shined in there and iv wasted alot of material. I will definitely be getting the 5 plus! Thanks for the info!
yo i never once in my life have successfully completed a print and cut with my 3 or 4. hahahaa i wasted a whole pack of sticker paper hahahaa. they was cutting all kinds of sticker paper in that demo room with the cameo 5. i was sold hahahaa
I'm a big fan and I'm a visual artist. I only have a Cricut Explorer 3 but I think I have figured out how to incorporate a new cutter in my art business. I live in DC but was born in and grew up in LA. The next time I am home I would like to meet you and get your opinion of my art.
On the cameo 4 the issue with the registration marks on sticker cut outs is not the light. The issue is with the sheet bending when the marks get read by the cameo. If the little box is bent at all, the optical reader gets thrown off and can't find the other 2 marks or miscalculates the triangulation. I built a little support table that is the exact height of the entrance to the cameo so that there is no bending in the sticker/mat at all as it flows into and out of the cameo and all registration issues went away.
I've had a Cameo 3 for about years. I only use it for rhinestone t-shirt making otherwise I use my Cricut maker or Scan N Cut. I may upgrade after it's been used for a while because so many people had issues with the Cameo 4.
That electrostatic bed is a separate purchase but my biggest concern is that it says for thin material only. Not sure what is considered thin. Regardless, much love on the drop didn’t realize cameo 5 was coming out to I watched so much appreciated
Nice video and I subscribed. I came on TH-cam to see what others are saying as comparing Cameo 4 to 5. I am looking to see which one I should buy and being a beginner. Right now I outsource sweatshirts and only make poly white sublimation shirts. I wished I got the HeatNation heat press instead of the swing one I got. It doesn't raise but I 'll replace that after I get my new toy. So, I know I am 7 months later watching this video and I am looking forward to watch others you have. However, I got a question and hopefully you can answer by tomorrow🤭If I had to depend on saving for one of these and now I am ready and will spend the extra for the 5, and a beginner to vinyl, should I dive in? What will I be making...colored shirts transfer, stickers, journal covers, other designs on tumblers and maybe get into hats since I have a hat press. I've just recently decided to get a silhouette cutter and I've been weighing up the pros and cons of the Cricut Maker 3 and the Silhouette Cameo 4. I've been leaning towards Cameo because it looks more useful than the Cricut and was at a better price point. Having heard about the Cameo 5, I think I'm going to sit tight for a while and wait for that. I intend on cutting and scoring nets for polyhedra, from card and the embossing tool on the Cameo 5 will be ideal for that, rather than cutting through some of the fibres with a light blade pass. Print and cut will be a real boon too. Do you know if the Silhouette Connect plug-in will work with it and whether it can still do matless cutting? As those are features on the Cameo 4 that I was planning on using.
Do you recommend the business edition for the software? I’m seriously considering but I mostly use my Cricut Maker because the software is easier. I really want to use my Silhouette Cameo 4.
I have a feeling the electo static matte can be retrofitted to an old machine. Or a third party manufacturer could make one for older machines. It seems like pretty simple technology
all of these cutters are made of plastic. i dont know any cutter thats made out of solid metal. even my old graphtec and roland cutters were made out of plastic. but the cutter in this video, i didnt pick up or handle so im not sure of the build and feel of it.

😩😩😩😩😩 I’m going to need that Cameo 5, especially for that repeat job feature. I’m probably going to need the AutoFeeder as well. I have the Cameo 4 but the software is horrible because I only have the Basic Edition.
Just a heads up the autosheet feeder does not work with the Cameo 5. The base it comes with does not fit the new machine. Customer service said they will have to make a new one to fit the new model.

@@louderthanlegal4423 tell us about it! I'm not opposed to it. I had to cut something for someone as wide as 12 in as a print and cut on printable vinyl and I realize it becomes a habit, then I will need something wider and faster.
i didnt see too much of them cutting different materials. the demo room was packed so i just tried to get in where it wasnt crowded to show some of the features. but the video they showed in the conference showed a lot of different things being cut. im looking forward to this upgrade too.

all depends if you will be needing a vinyl cutter. dont buy any piece of equipment that you arent going to use. you can operate with a heat press and just ordering transfers. no cutter needed. but if you plan on using a cutter and buying vinyl. then this cutter is a solid option. plan out your business before you buy any equipment and be honest and realistic with yourself on what you plan to do and what is actually needed. dont waste money if you dont have too

im not sure if the blades are interchangeable. but they did release a bunch of new accessories. heat press nation has all the info on their site about the new machines, new accessories and up to date info. i left the link for you in the description box.
I've already pre-ordered my machine, am waiting for the accessories to be released, but no embossing tip to be found. Hopefully, they show up somewhere soon. All I can say is "hurry up shipping day!"

Man my Cameo 4 pro was such a let down that I am not sure I can do that brand again. It was such a pain in the ass. It was like luck to not skew vinyl. And it rounds corners so bad on small details. I might get a Romeo or just give up on being able to do vinyl
When you start to notice round corner that's when you need to move up to the servo motor cutter. Ie graphtec, roland,mimaki these are professional cutters that cut very very accurate. You can even go with the ce7000-40 which is a 15" desktop. You will see a big difference with these cutters vs craft cutter.
I’ve been using the 4 since it launched. I have had no issues for the last 2 years. Let me know, if you want to, what is happening. I’ll share my lessons if they could possibly be helpful.
is the pro, the 24" cutter? ive been seeing a lot of people struggle with that cutter. even some creators that been cutting for years. not sure what it is, but i been seeing vids of people sending vinyl thru and it just starts going sideways. ive also seen some people use the roll feeder and it starts to just bundle up. ive never had any issues with any of my cameo's and i dont work for them so im not obligated to say good things about them hahahaha but thats just my experience with'em. dont have too much experience with the Pro model either. but i will say this, this new cameo 5 cuts crazy detail for being a "craft cutter" they cut some tiny snow flakes out of tissue paper and flower paper. i dont know any other cutter that can do that. hahaa it had something to do with their new cut technology. but you gotta go with whatever works for you. theres a reason why Coke and Pepsi still exist. everything isnt meant for everybody haha
@@BigBrandoh yeah man it is the 24" one. It just goes sideways. There just is not enough pressure to hold anything down reliably. So simple jobs turn into epic jobs and a pile of waste. I love the idea of the electrostatic mat though. But man cameo support was a joke for me because I bought second hand. They are in Utah, I am in Utah. Zero support.
i went to ever demo station showing the different materials being cut using the registration marks. the glitter/holographic material and the shiny foil looking materials being cut surprised me. somebody was kind enough to share their tips and tricks on how they got their cameo 3 or 4 to cut using registration marks in the comments. i think the comment started with "pro tip" or something like that. check it out. might help if you were having issues.
I'm looking at buying my first cutting machine, and in doing my research I tried calling support lines: Cricut had a 90min wait; I tried leaving a message, and somebody called me four days later. I just started laughing, to her dismay. Little did I know that Cricut's support was far better than Silhouette's, because that company has NO support option at all: it has a knowledge base, but not even a forum. I'm a long-time computer user, and my neighbor is a fabricator, so I've been designing things in Adobe Illustrator and sending him files for his laser, for at least 10 years. What kind of learning curve did you find with the Silhouette, with no support but their knowledge base?

@BigBrandoh big fan great work. It wouldn't connect anymore. It was a little buggy before the update. But after the update it completely stopped. Customer service was horrible. I actually still use the software. Thanks for all your work.
This thing is a four pound paperweight. Pure junk. If you want to lay out over 300 hard earned dollars for rubbish, this is the machine for you. They don’t even ship it with a $8 printer USB cable (which you need in order to use it nor tell you that before buying it). USB fails to connect and check this out - the USB isn’t onboard. It’s a dongle! I bought two additional dongles and both blink blue for Bluetooth but and is shown over the network but it continues to fail connection EVERY SINGLE TIME. I’ve emailed tech support three times, requested refund twice - nothing. “Customer service” does not exist. Updated information for the Cameo 5 is lacking on their website stuff is only for Cameo 4, if you can find it. You have to go online and try to hunt info down yourself via TH-cam videos. After a week it’s still just sitting here doing nothing. Again - pure junk.

Right now I outsource sweatshirts and only make poly white sublimation shirts. I wished I got the HeatNation heat press instead of the swing one I got. It doesn't raise but I 'll replace that after I get my new toy. So, I know I am 7 months later watching this video and I am looking forward to watch others you have. However, I got a question and hopefully you can answer by tomorrow🤭If I had to depend on saving for one of these and now I am ready and will spend the extra for the 5, and a beginner to vinyl, should I dive in? What will I be making...colored shirts transfer, stickers, journal covers, other designs on tumblers and maybe get into hats since I have a hat press. I've just recently decided to get a silhouette cutter and I've been weighing up the pros and cons of the Cricut Maker 3 and the Silhouette Cameo 4. I've been leaning towards Cameo because it looks more useful than the Cricut and was at a better price point. Having heard about the Cameo 5, I think I'm going to sit tight for a while and wait for that.
I intend on cutting and scoring nets for polyhedra, from card and the embossing tool on the Cameo 5 will be ideal for that, rather than cutting through some of the fibres with a light blade pass. Print and cut will be a real boon too.
Do you know if the Silhouette Connect plug-in will work with it and whether it can still do matless cutting? As those are features on the Cameo 4 that I was planning on using.
Do you think they will have a 24” pro version?
not sure. they only announced the 12" and 15" at the conference.
Can you use some of the previous tools with the 5? Just got wind of the new machine. Looking to upgrade as well.

all of these cutters are made of plastic. i dont know any cutter thats made out of solid metal. even my old graphtec and roland cutters were made out of plastic. but the cutter in this video, i didnt pick up or handle so im not sure of the build and feel of it.

i would say so. cameo is a good cutter and not too hard to learn since there is tons of cameo content on youtube. its all there to help you learn.

😩😩😩😩😩 I’m going to need that Cameo 5, especially for that repeat job feature. I’m probably going to need the AutoFeeder as well. I have the Cameo 4 but the software is horrible because I only have the Basic Edition.
Just a heads up the autosheet feeder does not work with the Cameo 5. The base it comes with does not fit the new machine. Customer service said they will have to make a new one to fit the new model.

@@louderthanlegal4423 tell us about it! I'm not opposed to it. I had to cut something for someone as wide as 12 in as a print and cut on printable vinyl and I realize it becomes a habit, then I will need something wider and faster.

i didnt see too much of them cutting different materials. the demo room was packed so i just tried to get in where it wasnt crowded to show some of the features. but the video they showed in the conference showed a lot of different things being cut. im looking forward to this upgrade too.

all depends if you will be needing a vinyl cutter. dont buy any piece of equipment that you arent going to use. you can operate with a heat press and just ordering transfers. no cutter needed. but if you plan on using a cutter and buying vinyl. then this cutter is a solid option. plan out your business before you buy any equipment and be honest and realistic with yourself on what you plan to do and what is actually needed. dont waste money if you dont have too

will the cameo 5 use the cameo 4 autoblade or is there a new autoblade? are there adapters for CB09 blades? where to get the embossing tip? does any heat foil work (foil quill etc)?
im not sure if the blades are interchangeable. but they did release a bunch of new accessories. heat press nation has all the info on their site about the new machines, new accessories and up to date info. i left the link for you in the description box.
I've already pre-ordered my machine, am waiting for the accessories to be released, but no embossing tip to be found. Hopefully, they show up somewhere soon. All I can say is "hurry up shipping day!"

Man my Cameo 4 pro was such a let down that I am not sure I can do that brand again. It was such a pain in the ass. It was like luck to not skew vinyl. And it rounds corners so bad on small details. I might get a Romeo or just give up on being able to do vinyl
When you start to notice round corner that's when you need to move up to the servo motor cutter. Ie graphtec, roland,mimaki these are professional cutters that cut very very accurate. You can even go with the ce7000-40 which is a 15" desktop. You will see a big difference with these cutters vs craft cutter.
I’ve been using the 4 since it launched. I have had no issues for the last 2 years. Let me know, if you want to, what is happening. I’ll share my lessons if they could possibly be helpful.
is the pro, the 24" cutter? ive been seeing a lot of people struggle with that cutter. even some creators that been cutting for years. not sure what it is, but i been seeing vids of people sending vinyl thru and it just starts going sideways. ive also seen some people use the roll feeder and it starts to just bundle up.
ive never had any issues with any of my cameo's and i dont work for them so im not obligated to say good things about them hahahaha but thats just my experience with'em. dont have too much experience with the Pro model either.
but i will say this, this new cameo 5 cuts crazy detail for being a "craft cutter" they cut some tiny snow flakes out of tissue paper and flower paper. i dont know any other cutter that can do that. hahaa it had something to do with their new cut technology. but you gotta go with whatever works for you. theres a reason why Coke and Pepsi still exist. everything isnt meant for everybody haha
@@BigBrandoh yeah man it is the 24" one. It just goes sideways. There just is not enough pressure to hold anything down reliably. So simple jobs turn into epic jobs and a pile of waste. I love the idea of the electrostatic mat though. But man cameo support was a joke for me because I bought second hand. They are in Utah, I am in Utah. Zero support.
What about vinyl that’s curled from being rolled up? Does it stay flat on that bed?
yes. i seen a guy intentionally curl the material and it laid down on the electro mat

SOOOO they fixed our BIGGEST HEADACHE…. “Registration Marks⁉️” 😱
i went to ever demo station showing the different materials being cut using the registration marks. the glitter/holographic material and the shiny foil looking materials being cut surprised me. somebody was kind enough to share their tips and tricks on how they got their cameo 3 or 4 to cut using registration marks in the comments. i think the comment started with "pro tip" or something like that. check it out. might help if you were having issues.

I'm looking at buying my first cutting machine, and in doing my research I tried calling support lines: Cricut had a 90min wait; I tried leaving a message, and somebody called me four days later. I just started laughing, to her dismay. Little did I know that Cricut's support was far better than Silhouette's, because that company has NO support option at all: it has a knowledge base, but not even a forum.
I'm a long-time computer user, and my neighbor is a fabricator, so I've been designing things in Adobe Illustrator and sending him files for his laser, for at least 10 years. What kind of learning curve did you find with the Silhouette, with no support but their knowledge base?

I'm not a fan of silhouette cameo. It died after a year. But the software is still the best.

@BigBrandoh big fan great work. It wouldn't connect anymore. It was a little buggy before the update. But after the update it completely stopped. Customer service was horrible. I actually still use the software. Thanks for all your work.
This thing is a four pound paperweight. Pure junk. If you want to lay out over 300 hard earned dollars for rubbish, this is the machine for you. They don’t even ship it with a $8 printer USB cable (which you need in order to use it nor tell you that before buying it). USB fails to connect and check this out - the USB isn’t onboard. It’s a dongle! I bought two additional dongles and both blink blue for Bluetooth but and is shown over the network but it continues to fail connection EVERY SINGLE TIME. I’ve emailed tech support three times, requested refund twice - nothing. “Customer service” does not exist. Updated information for the Cameo 5 is lacking on their website stuff is only for Cameo 4, if you can find it. You have to go online and try to hunt info down yourself via TH-cam videos. After a week it’s still just sitting here doing nothing. Again - pure junk.
