Long post here but IMO there’s a deeper reason the “let’s just be positive” channels have lost the attention and esteem of the fanbase. Yes, their access and connections to Lucasfilm make people question their genuineness, but there is something else. Lack of substance.
People have made hour long videos about the themes of hope within Luke Skywalker. They use direct evidence from within the movies that we can all understand.
For example, Obi Wan told Luke that Darth Vader killed his father. He told him his true destiny was to kill Darth Vader. Even Yoda trained Luke without telling him the truth, while Luke was under that same assumption.
But Obi also originally told Luke about his father Anakin, a great Jedi and a friend. That was the figure that Luke believed his father to be.
When Luke found out Vader was his father, he confronted Obi Wans ghost and told him he will not kill his own father. Obi was convinced that there was no good left in him. Luke refused to believe it and he had true faith in the Force.
So much faith that he walked into the den of evil, that had all but consumed his father, resisted the temptations that his father could not, and put his life on the line, ready to sacrifice it because he had hope, despite his fears and doubts, those never got the best of Luke. He was a true Jedi, even more than Obi Wan who had given up on Vader and believed in retribution.
In the end, Luke was right. Anakin was still somewhere in there behind that mask and suit. When he saw his own son living up to the Jedi way, he redeemed himself. It wasn’t a lightsaber that defeated evil, it was hope.
….
So when someone says they love the original trilogy and Luke Skywalker, and follows it up with a clear thematic explanation that is easy to understand and evident directly from the film, you believe them.
You may not agree, you may see it another way, but you believe they are being truly genuine.
If you notice the way these “positive” channels give an opinion, it is always devoid of any justification that is evident within the show itself.
They’ll say something completely shallow like “cool lightsaber fights” or “something we haven’t seen before” without giving any explanation for why it was important to see it.
It’s then followed up by talking about the “toxic” fans who criticized the show as a divisive way to draw a line in the sand. They never seem capable of telling you why they’re being positive with any real substance or evidence from within the show itself, in a way that anyone can understand and can see for themselves.
That’s why I think people question their genuineness. They give all of their opinions with no substantial justification, unlike those who are critical of a show using direct evidence and incongruities from each episode or scene.
Combine that with all the access and perks, and obviously people are going to question their honesty.
It wouldn’t be that hard to be positive about a show and not get that type of criticism brought upon you, but they’re mostly incapable of giving any thematic analysis to you that makes you understand where they are coming from.
So in short they lack passion in their statements.
I agree with what you say, when I love something I can tell a person why I love it and what it means to me.
This is an excellent and well observed summation which cuts through the issues of concern like a lightsabre through butter.....bravo!!

Carly King tries to act all innocent, but she retweeted Star Wars Explained’s post to cancel Theory and the others as well, and was with Explained and Katarn at “The Acolyte Roundtable” at Lucasfilm with Headland, Kennedy, and Filoni right before The Acolyte premiered. Isn’t it weird that most of the channels that attended “The Acolyte Roundtable” are the ones trying to cancel Theory, The Critical Drinker, and the rest of them? Lucasfilm needs to be investigated.

My very best friend and I started off arguing over something and still are arguing about it , this, that, and the other to this day.
