Identity politics propaganda has the total inverse effect and actually makes the characters not interesting and hated because their whole character is a token tiny trivial aspect of their identity that should not be the only (or even primary) focus. I immediately hate the character of Wiccan as much as Ncuti Gatwa on Dr. Who. It doesn't exactly help gay representation if the whole audience immediately starts hoping the characters get hate-crimed as soon as they're introduced cuz they are so cringe smh. Ppl would hate it just as bad if Captain America was constantly on about how hetero he was every scene and that was his whole character/personality too lol. Nobody. F*ckin. Cares. Disney. Nobody; git gud.
Regretfully I'm forced to have to disagree. I'm discovering of late that a characters orientation has a massive effect on whether I find the character gay oriented Not interesting. We use to dismiss that as shallow or one dimensional.
The comment I had appears to be deleted. In the Marvel's there was a possibly deleted scene where Valkyrie calls captain marvels ship. The teenage ms. Marvel says "I'm ms. Marvel" and the middle aged Valkyrie says "I didn't know she remarried." They stammer back and forth and Valkyrie says "You may want a strap on - I mean strap in." Because the ship she called was about to jump.

Marvel has several times published an Encyclopedia of the Marvel Universe. NO ONE working for Marvel in any capacity - especially the show runners - can be excused for ignorance on the Marvel characters. Every sidekick, girlfriend, and nemesis is listed in those books.
Who has time to read when you're busy flushing money down the toilet producing activist garbage virtually no one will subscribe to Disney+ to watch? Making the show good would get in the way of all the activist garbage they want to cram down the audience's throats. Can't have that.
"Witches are queer because they're outcasts" Thanks for confirming that "queerness" has nothing to do with sexuality and everything to do with wanting to be a quirky outsider.
More importantly, the message is the inverse of that. If you feel outcast, you’re “queer” and can now belong to a protected class if you witness this “message” to all you meet in an effort to recruit them. Humans find religion, and this is one of them.
welcome to the futher undermining of the rainbow as well because if people can "choose" to be queer. whats stopping them from going back and saying you can "choose" to be gay.
I actually like the show. Great casting and solid acting. I could care less about an agenda. I’m straight and really am enjoying the show. Also it’s getting solid ratings too.
Thank you! I actually think this video is pretty telling, seeing as they judged it for calling itself gay. Yeah, it’s gay, and it’s great? They’re acting like it can’t be both which is actually… dare I say… homophobic?
@@Mungnum This was filmed before the show was actually released I believe, and to be fair, most modern films where 'gay' is one of the main selling points tend to be bad films that focus more on the identity of the characters rather than the story. This was a fair judgement at the time even if it isn't now. I personally don't have a problem with diverse characters as long as the plot is good and the story isn't trash, it's just that I and many others have lost the faith that we had in Disney because of all the terrible movies/shows they've made the past 5 or so years.
@@SIMON_SAYS_SO I think you have it backwards. Hollywood used to put out great films with a huge variety. There is nothing similar between ET, Serpico, or 2001 The Space Odyssey. Now they keep on pushing the left wing narrative. They fear to put more than 3 straight white characters starring in the same show, and every fantasy settlement has the diversity of downtown LA. Its irritating, its always the same, and no one wants to watch it. the "modern audience" is too small to warrant anything other then the most low budget show.
8:05 interesting. It’s looking like Hollywood (at least some of them), are starting to distance themselves from words like “diversity,” or “minorities.” Hope?!?!
The fact that they STILL greenlit this show despite nobody giving a damn or even talking about this for literal years since it's inception. Star Wars has less apathy than this show had, because 70% of Marvel fans (not DISNEY Marvel fans, needs to be emphasized) had no idea the show even existed. And yet they still released it.
Some people think it was contractual obligation, somewhere, somehow, to somebody. Nothing else really makes sense. Nobody was clamoring for an Agatha Harkness show, nobody was rushing out after Wandavision to say: "Yea, I want a spin-off with her!"
So now that the show has become one of the highest rated marvel shows ever, and it’s been really good what u gonna say? I didn’t have much faith but I wasn’t gonna judge before I saw it and damn I’m glad I did especially episode 7
Apathy is so much more dangerous than passionate fans who disagree. You can bring back fans who are upset, you can't easily make amends with people who just don't care anymore.

Except this video is a hate letter, not apathy. Apathy would be an instagram story saying he isn't watching, this video has about 6min of actual text and drags over 10min in editing, complaining that it's gay, complaining that it has black, old and asian people, complaining that it's connected to other marvel shows... @@nexussharknot really no one was looking out for marvel characters except Spider-Man and the X-men, and marvel themselves knew that the whole point of the mcu is to make unknown characters better known, so your argument is kinda stupid
@@nexusshark You can make lesser known characters the centre of a story, it's up to the writers to bring out their potential. It's that the writers care more about the dumbass MESSAGE than compelling story telling.
@@IcAnClips1 I'm sure there were a lot more people who knew who Ironman was, than people who where fans of Echo or Agatha. There is also a difference between introducing a comicbook character (who's part of a larger team of superheroes) to the big screen, and making a show about an uninteresting side villain who was previously introduced in another show and people didn't care. That's what it means when people say "nobody asked for this". People already had a taste.
That lady: "I think witches were queer all along." No, not even close, they were the origin of the succubus, in that, through their dealings with the devil, they would tempt good men down the path of the flesh, which is part of why they held all their rituals in the middle of nature, 'sky clad', that any who might come upon them would be so besotted with their illusory beauty that they would fall madly in love.
Finally! someone who knows some esoteric history! Black Witchcraft used Heterosexual sex to release the power of creation (prana & Kundalini) and it energized them and made their spells possible. Human sacrifice and abortion would do the same thing, the blood letting released energy to use and pleased the Evil One. They sold their souls for power. It was the darkest of all magics. So who is this show for ... witches? the alphabet crowd? Women who want control and power at any price? White Witchcraft existed and counteracted the Dark witches. White Witchcraft were chiefly herbalists, Healers, removed curses, spiritual advisors who prayed over their patients. They were the doctors long before there was a medical profession or in small villages were there were no doctors. Hollywood thinks it's clever, it doesn't even do it's research.
Claiming that witches were always gay, is a prelude to more self induced victimhood by rewriting history…again. They will claim that witches were burned alive, not because of black magic superstition, but because they were “gay all along”.

I remember as a kid how it sucked how short comic books were. Loved them, but went through them in 20 minutes or so. The idea that a director "didn't read many comics" shows how little work is actually put into these.
Well put. I remember that exact feeling. Twenty minutes for a solid read, then that was it. I stopped reading comics a couple of decades ago, after almost 40 years of fandom.
The target appears to be the 'modern audience'. You know, the audience that hasn't actually materialised yet despite all these shows and games that have been made for them.
A communist audience who will go along blindly. "Say it enough times and it becomes true" type of audience. "If you don't do what we say you're not cool" type of audience.
The fact that the director got 2nd hand information about the comic books is very telling for how these modern shows turn out. “I don’t read the comics” WHY TF NOT??? Is it not your job to create a show for the people who DO read them?
They aren’t at any point in production ever labelled as comic book movies, Disney hires people to work on these shows that know nothing about Marvel or Star Wars intentionally. Acolyte wasn’t for Star Wars fans & Agatha certainly isn’t for comic fans. These shows are for a group of people that probably don’t exist, the modern audience.
To be fair, if you're good, you could do a great show without relying on the original materials, case in point, Fallout TV show. But those are more of outliers than the norm.
You don’t really want them to read the modern day Marvel comics … not even the comic fans want to read those anymore. … let’s better say that the writers, directors and producers should know about the good stuff the fans remember. The Marvel that once was as opposed to the Marvel that is.
Do you regret learning of it ? That is how most of Disney investors feel, they don't give a damn what the company is doing and how many cash pyres are burning :)
I’m not going to lie. I have no idea what’s going on anymore. I literally 100% gave up on this franchise but Jesus I have no faith in returning to this stuff.
You'd have to binge something along 50 hours of garbage to catch on. And the pile is gonna increase. Don't do that to yourself. Smoking crack would be less harmful.
I seriously hope Disney goes out of business I'm so done hearing about them can't wait for it to be a ghost world and a ghost land they deserve everything they get!
Gay characters are not bad I don’t think that makes a character worse at all. What I think makes the STORY worse is when that is used specifically to pander the audiences and does not have an impactful or important role on the story. Watching these episodes has genuinely been frustrating because there’s definitely potential but the amount of jokes and unnecessary romantic tension is genuinely so annoying 💀 (I do genuinely love Agatha though, she is such a fun and likable character even with how morally awful she can be)
To be fair, the character likeness rights might fall under the loosely associated UK imprint that ran the Excalibur "universe" series of books. Way easier to borrow her for a comic arc or few, probably way harder to supplant her into a film project expected to make millions (lol) back that would then have to pay out royalties.
For people who love supernatural and urban fantasy shows. For people who loved Charmed when growing up. Different Marvel products have different target audiences. It’s ok.
@Learning-kf3uq oh shutup. They're pandering to the gays and it stinks. Why would they lose money for themselves to appeal to homosexuals? Disney is just throwing shit to the wall with no concern at all, on if it sticks.
Growing-up as a Gen Xer, anything that was boring, lame, and stupid was always described as being "gay." "That's gay, dude." Glad to see it coming back as a pejorative.
Hey, lots of us in Gen Z can agree on the same thing. You just don't see it cause the "wanna be blacks and tik tok whores" are astroturfed. Only diff is we also use "gay" to describe things that are gross, vile, and detestable. This show fits both our generations' definitions of the word.
It never stopped being a pejorative because it simply is. People just stopped saying it for a while, but they made a mistake thinking we are all equal and that sexual tastes are unrelated to sanity.

Thinking that 99% of the audience is normal is the gayest comment yet. I'd say 99% gay. The comment, not the audience.

Oh my goodness it’s almost like a character’s sexual orientation has literally NO effect on whether they are interesting or not. What are the odds.
And that a writher/producer/executive's sexual orientation is the only thing that effects their decisions.

This is hella funny after ep 7
And episode masterpiece
Its insane how they can make a scene of a little girl lusting toward a 50 year old naked woman. Disney really likes confirming the groomer roomers.
Even weirder is that was probably the only one of a “her” type under the age of 40 to be casted. Can’t have attractive ones can we
If you remember eternals, they had a child character that was "mature for her age"
@@Bruh_but_why And the black leader of the norse gods told the Muslim teenager she might want a strap on.

"Witches are queer because they're outcasts"
Thanks for confirming that "queerness" has nothing to do with sexuality and everything to do with wanting to be a quirky outsider.
Queer literally means odd, unusual, different
It's still a dumb statment. @@hopefulspectator6573

Remember when Marvel used to excite us and go see their movies like big events you shouldn't miss out on?
I miss the past.
Remember when people complained about Hollywood putting out the same stuff and then complained when they didn't?
they were billion dollar films, families saw them together

You and I remember Budapest very differently.
Very very few of them. Most of the movies have been formulaic and mediocre. It just got worse. There’s better cinema out there than the mcu
8:05 interesting. It’s looking like Hollywood (at least some of them), are starting to distance themselves from words like “diversity,” or “minorities.” Hope?!?!
The needle has shifted slightly.
Worse: Agatha requires another series and a movie as homework... even Headland's show didn't have this bar.

That lady: "I think witches were queer all along."
No, not even close, they were the origin of the succubus, in that, through their dealings with the devil, they would tempt good men down the path of the flesh, which is part of why they held all their rituals in the middle of nature, 'sky clad', that any who might come upon them would be so besotted with their illusory beauty that they would fall madly in love.
Finally! someone who knows some esoteric history!
Like the mermaids.
Claiming that witches were always gay, is a prelude to more self induced victimhood by rewriting history…again. They will claim that witches were burned alive, not because of black magic superstition, but because they were “gay all along”.

You don’t really want them to read the modern day Marvel comics … not even the comic fans want to read those anymore. … let’s better say that the writers, directors and producers should know about the good stuff the fans remember. The Marvel that once was as opposed to the Marvel that is.
