Decluttering My Craft Room, Ep 4 - Take The Easy {Decluttering} Wins!

- I'm short on time this week so I'm focusing on eliminating some "easy stuff" from my craft room. Sometimes the easy way is the best path forward. When that's the case, take it!
We could dub this series, "Confessions of a Cluttered Crafter"! I never thought of myself as a person who hoarded a lot of things or who kept a cluttered home. However, I am having to face some hard truths about myself when it comes to downsizing and decluttering my spaces - especially my craft room. I could get overwhelmed, but I've learned that dividing up a large job into a series of small jobs makes it easier and more likely that I will accomplish my goal(s). Join me as I tackle condensing my craft room a little bit at a time!

I'm working on my craft room and decluttering at an ongoing basis. I take my things to a charity thrift shop that helps the homeless. They love to get craft things because they sell so well. It's not far from my house too so that helps. I loved seeing the progress you've made and I love the quote. Yes it is really O.K. to have a calm life! After I move I hope that will come back to me. Something has to give and slow down for me. I need to give up my job but the money helps. I'll have to give it up pretty soon anyway because I've got to put more time into clearing out what I don't want the movers to take....big job!☘
It IS a big job, but I know you will get there. It's good to take it in small chunks so you don't burn out. Sounds like a win-win with your thrift store being so close. Easy to pass along the things you've cleared out so they don't sit around adding to the visual clutter. When you are finally moved and settled into your new place, you will be thanking yourself that you tackled this now. So many things to look forward to in your new location, such as family and time with your good friend. 💖

2 years ago we were selling our house to move from the west coast to the Midwest so I decided to declutter so I didn’t have to pack as much. It was hard to get rid of stuff but here I am in my new house and craft room and I haven’t missed anything. In fact I’m using the stuff I have before buying more. This is a good series.

I've found that it only hurts for the split second I discard something and then I'm okay. I'm a newer crafter, and I don't have my own craft room yet but i love watching these videos and seeing all the cool supplies you've collected. 💚
Yes, most of the things I have are either very old or were collected in the last few years. I didn't have a dedicated craft room until the end of 2018. 🤭 Before that I moved my stuff from place to place around the house (and I've been paper crafting since 1995!). If there's any advice I can share it would be to collect slowly and be intentional about what you bring into your craft space. It really adds up! 🤗😀💖
Wait…another friend from Idaho who now lives in Arkansas?!! 😂 And, donating the craft papers that I don’t like from the paper pads is a thought that has never occurred to me!! I’m going to do that!! ❤

Sharing is always a great option, but the coffee dyed pieces were just scraps, nothing lovely to receive. The scrapbook papers will go to a thrift store. I'm donating some of the colored paper to the elementary school where my daughter is working. She says the kids will love using it during library time! Lots of good ways to dispose of our supplies for sure. 💖
