Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that Valvoline SynPower fluid you are using that already has the friction modifier additive in it for a LS? This video was a good starting point for me as I am about to service my rear diff for the first time. Thanks!
I guess I need to do a tutorial video for mechanics to know how to put sealants on mating surfaces properly. So when you see all that sealant squish out on the outside all that sealant is squishing out on the inside too. you basically had 10 times more sealant than you need on there to do it right.
I was under the impression this would be showing a actual gasket being installed. But you used rtv not a actual prefabricated gasket? Also you said there is no torque requirements . But there is. Also id think allowing the caliper to dangle freely might damage the brake line. Whether youre replacing the caliper or installing a new one. Still dont want to damage that line mame. Sorry if i come across negativity. No ill intentions meant. Thanks
What about on 2012 f150 xlt 5.0 it has electronic locking differential, do I need to add the friction modifier fluid or is not necessary , please let me know, Thanks 🙏
So, it's okay to put Valvoline 75/140 synthetic, instead of Motorcraft? I thought those differential break if you don't use Motorcraft fluids? At least that's what a mechanic told me.
These videos seem to ignore one big important tip: loosen the fill bolt first. If you can't get it out, then you can't put new fluid in. Better to drive with old oil than no oil.

The gasket bead needs to be on the inboard side of the bolt holes so it doesn't leak.
It will squeez out, inboard and out board, Ford Master Tec here
u surround the bolt hole with sealant
Industrial mechanic and it seems u would actualy torque the bolts to ensure equal tightness

+Yamaha 1200 Thanks for the feedback!
Your voice is so soothing it about put me to sleep. Great video.
+tim barbee Thank you for your feedback!
This a dating app now? She ain’t gonna F you !
If you use a steel putty knife, you can hammer it between the cover and diff.
Do you need a gasket or can you just use rtv have a 01 dodge ram 1500
There is a torque... 35 footpounds
Nice video so it's important to add the additive with the fluid?
Yes, it is important in some models to add the additive. Thanks for checking out our videos! +joe gladue
1A Auto Parts mines a 2013 ford f150 5.0l
What about the front differential??

Did u find out ?
It's limited slip with locking diff. But yes you still need it
Great job
Should be thread sealant added to the fill plug.

I'm surprised to not see a criss-cross tightening pattern, also surprised to not see mention of torque value
This is a general guide not a HOLD YOUR HAND tutorial.
she mentioned that you do not have to torque them.
Very well Done and explained..love your channel
Thanks.
On these years , ford recommends not to put a additive for the electric limited slip
Beautiful work
I have a 2015 F-150 2wd. Do they not make hard gaskets?!?
Just did mine and was surprised there was no magnet. The fill bolt was a pain to get loose
+matzpimp Thanks for the feedback!

@@ChristopherMarts good advice
Magnet is on the fill plug
Looked like the pinion seal needed replacing too. Probably too late now since this video is 4 yrs old. 😂
We're is the gasket???
Gasket?
Can’t you just pump out the old and pump in the new without taking the cover off?
Yes, that is what's done on the front usually. This method is for a more thorough interior cleaning and inspection.
Great video,
Fantastic thank you 🙏🏻
You don’t torque the bolts
He did that pretty fast
Great video however those are 1/2 inch NOT 13mm
Should have reusable gaskets. Rather than waiting for silicone to cure.
This is going to leak. The rtv needs to go on the inside of the bolt holes. She put it on the outside of the bolt holes.
My 2010 has 130K miles and never changed the diff oil :0
What? No Gasket? There is a torque!!
i like her
