I had a shop use an impact driver to install mine and trashed the threads on the housing. Now the slave cylinder lifts off of it's mount instead of working the fork. Good times.
Yeah so the fix to this problem will be coming up in a video soon but the clutch fork had split in 2. The symptoms I had were the car wouldn’t go into neutral basically. Every time I’d push in the clutch the car would act like it was still in gear. I did have to pull the entire transmission to fix the clutch fork.
@@legacyrebuilds Thanks for the video and the reply. So yeah my clutch pedal was almost to the floor and the car wouldn't go into gear. So I just pulled up on the clutch pedal and it's working again, but it's sticking. So I figure I need to replace both the Clutch Slave Cylinder and the Clutch Master Cylinder. By the way on these Subaru's it's easier to pull the motor when you have clutch related issues.
Yeah no problem glad to help! I found that out the hard after trying to pull just the transmission… next time everything is coming out motor and trans. I just know that the clutch fork is known to fail and figure that was my next option after the slave cylinder. Anyways thanks for the comment and view!
@@legacyrebuilds No need to pull the motor and trans for that. You only need to pull the motor. My son has a 2008 WRX. Under the hood looks identical to your motor. I just replaced the clutch two weeks ago. I bought the 2 ton engine hoist from Harbor Freight. Pulled the motor on day one. Replaced all gaskets related to the turbo and exhaust, replaced spark plugs and clutch, flywheel, throwout bearing on day two. And put it back in and back together on days three and four. No need to pull the trans for this job unless the trans needs to be replaced. But good luck and thanks again for your video.
I have a 08 WRX and I replaced my clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder because my clutch pedal was staying depressed against the firewall. After the repair my clutch started slipping in every gear with not much load to the throttle. Anyone know what would cause this? Didn't have any slip before I replaced both cylinders.
I would look for a possibly leak in the lines somewhere between the slave and master. Or another possible outcome could be you might have a bad pressure plate. I know in another video I have on the channel when we replaced the clutch on the WRX the pressure plate had multiple missing prongs. Not allowing the clutch to engage fully, introducing slippage. I’ve also heard of the welds around the master cylinder cracking and breaking loose at the firewall. I’m not sure if this would cause it to slip but there’s another thing to look at. Another scenario could be that the clutch fork is broken and isn’t pushing the pressure plate far enough in to fully engage the clutch.
It’s your clutch fire wall…. 08-14 all have that problem …. I did it myself and just through bolted the fire wall .. I have an 08 also and trust me that’s the problem but you will need to replace clutch pressure plate and disc
Wow such a simple video, you got right to it. Thanks so much bro I appreciate you and the excellent video.

Oh no thats not good 🤦♂️
What symptoms did your car have that you needed to replace the Clutch Slave Cylinder? Also did you figure out the problem?

I see what you are saying now yes that makes sense.
Shouldn't jam that in there dry lol and you should also bench bleed it first
