Great tip. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Great tips, man! I'm getting ready for a big painting project, and looking to NOT have\create problems... Thanks for the info!!
No problem! Glad we could help and good luck with the project!
I mean, that works, or you could just be a professional and go buy some friggin roof jacks and do it the normal way...
Thanks. I'm just roofing a shed, but useful safety tip.
What a great tip. I subscribed right after I saw it!
Or you can cut some strips of metal flashing about 5" wide and use roofing nails and fasten them well to the 2x4, leaving about 12" or so of the metal extending past the 2x4 up the slope, and fasten it well to the roof. Then you can shingle over those pieces of metal, and when the roof is done, you can score the metal with a knife as deep as you need to, flush with the bottom tab of the shingle, break it off, and glue it so the shingle will seal down, and you're done.
Nail high, spoken like a true roofer
Forgot to do the good ole step flashing toe board. Grab a piece of step flashing, hammer it flat, then put a few nails to hold it to the board, then nail it to the shingle where it covers it, when you're done just cut the step out with snips
Amazing tip
Clicked on your video because the roof staging brackets(aka jacks) in the thumbnail looked like some I have. Video shows how to attach a temporary sticker without them. We only nailed a 2x to old roofs in roof overs to hold stock. Have 3 sets of brackets including my grandfathers that have the Stanley sweet hart label. With brackets you just peen the nails down after removal. Wouldn’t have bothered with staging on that low a pitch. Must have been hot that day as your laminated shingles were floppy. 3 tabs are easier to weave in but mostly gone.
You don't even need this on this roof...... show me this on a 12/12 roof where the shingles slide off as soon as you let go
Plank on a 4/12 pitch 👍 lol you know your a roofer when you do this 😂😂
Thank you
THANKS
Video Idea: How to properly seal around a package Unit A/C when you put in new roof
thank you for the idea i’ll consider making it whenever the opportunity comes up!
Damn! You're good!
I already know to nail high haven't layed a shingle not high hehe
How come after roofing for 15 years I never had to do this? Oh maybe it's because we used the right equipment
Rookie
Where did you find those soft sole boots?
Roof jacks and your done 10x faster and if you want to you can tar or ice guard the roof jack nails.
Why... Do you tar or ice guard every roofing nail you put in that are concealed under the upper shingle?
@@tomd6588 Wind can lift or tear the shingle. If so, you are still sealed up.I have been called to hundreds of roof leaks and a nail that pops up even a little will drain waters into your home.
@@tittyrino so your saying you do tar or ice guard every roofing nail you shoot down? Wow that must take forever to do 30 or 40 square
@@tomd6588 No I did not say that and I have done over 1,500 roofing jobs and so much more.
nice
Or get a cushion
Why don't you just go out and buy 2 roof Jack's and a 2x8 and 6, 3 inch spikes
Thats a lot of moves. If you really need jacks or boards on a 4/12 pitch, you should probably have a helmet on too
Why do you have one glove 😂
Ive Never worn gloves to work😂 my hands are tough as sh#$😂
No roof jacks....no safety harnesses.
This demo roof isn't even steep...... those unnailed shingles lay there without sliding off while he's getting set up....... Show this on a 12/12 or even steeper
That would be too much extra work for some lazy roofers !
Amateur hour
LoL
THAT SHIT WONT WORK ON A OVERHUNG BUDY WORKSHEET THERE CAUSE ITS NOT TOO STEEP
This is terrible
Now that's just corny! Is this a amatcher?
Dumb
