Awesome video! Thank you. Would you be able to do a video teaching how to install the D ring to the roof in case they do not have one?

Shouldn't you be tied off when installing the roof anchor?

You should train US Secret Service agents how to climb a steep roof!

Its called a rope grab, and you have it all wrong. You need to understand the difference between 'fall prevention' and 'fall arrest'. Fall arrest stops you from falling to the ground once you have already fallen, fall prevention stops you from falling in the first place. Your using a fall prevention device and hooking it to a fall arrest point on your harness. You hook the shock absorber lanyard to the front of your harnes on the rescue points and set the rope grab with a figure 8 knot so as you are in no way able to fall. A critical point to note is MOST shock absorber lanyards when deployed are 2m in length, so you need to calculate the max length the lanyard can be by getting the height of the potential fall and then subtract your height so example
    fall height = 3metres/10feet
    Your height = 1.8m/8 feet
    3m -1.8m=1.2m
Thats the distance from your legs to the ground if you fall WITHOUT A SHOCK ABSORBER LANYARD. So if you were using a 2m lanyard you would contact the ground prior to full drployment of your fall arrest device. = EPIC FAIL
YOU SHOULD REALLY STOP MAKING VIDEOS ON WORK SAFELY AT HEIGHTS WHEN YOU ARE CLEARLY NOT APPROPRIATELY TRAINED AND DONT HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE TO DO CORRECTLY

So what would you suggest for roofs that don’t have anchors?

Just tie off from your truck hitch or something solid

I got roofing tar on my rope and lanyard, will that make the rope dangerous to use and should I replace it?
