- What if I told you that there exists an ultra-secret fundamentalist organization filled with highly trained assassins who genuinely believe that they are the saviors of humanity? This doesn't exist in the real world, of course, but it certainly does in Batman's universe of shadows and ruthless villains. Calling itself the League of Shadows or, alternatively, the League of Assassins, this supposedly benevolent group of individuals is notorious for harboring some of the deadliest villains in the DC universe. While casual consumers of Batman content may not be very familiar with the League's operations, the fans more well versed with Batman lore know that while he despises this clan of skilled villains, he also respects it just as much. Created by Denny O'Neill and Neal Adams and led by Ra's al Ghul, this group makes recurring appearances in a number of DC comics.

When Ra's al Ghul started his empire centuries ago he founded three leagues: The League of Assassins, The League Of Shadows, and The League of Lazarus each with a purpose that served to achieve Ra's goals. The League of Shadows was created to save the world from self-destruction. The League of Assassins would kill anyone who got in their way, and The League of Lazarus would look for new places where they could create the Lazarus Pits.
If they announce another Suicide Squad movie, I would like to see the League of Shadows as the antagonists. Let's hope that when Amanda Waller returns, she gets to said "Project Lazarus"

The League of Shadows in Batman represents the Fourth Turning, or the crisis that occurs to reset American society every 80 years. "Every time a civilization reaches the pinnacle of its decadence, we return to restore the balance," says Ra's al Ghul in the movie. We are at that decadence today in America.
Imagine the Ras Al Ghul and the League of Shadows had defeated/Killed Batman in Batman Begins 2005 film. After Gotham is rebuild, how would they handle The Joker (Chris Nolan Version) in The Dark Knight 2008 film. Would Ras Al Ghul and the League make things worst or better in Gotham interacting with Gordon, Joker, and Harvey-Two-Face?

The League of Assassins or League of Shadows takes great inspiration from the actual ORDER OF ASSASSINS or HASHASHINS in Persia and Syria.
So actually, a ancient order of assassins did exist back in 1090.
They also take inspiration for the famous japanese myth Ninja or Shinobi.
But, the ninja depicted is merely myth and not truth unlike the Hashashin.
It would be interesting to have a story about a three way war between the League of Assassins, the Order of St. Dumas, and the Court of Owls with Batman and his allies caught in the middle of it.

The league of assassins are real because of the real shia assassins from Islamic history and Ra's Al Ghul in my opinion is based off Rashid Al Din he was the leader of the shia assassins in the times of Salah Al Dins

They already are. In the Snyderverse Batfleck movie version both Deathstroke and Batman trained under Ras Al Ghul.

I loved tom hardys Bane, but i just found out last week that he is actually south american dude who wears el luchador mask. Bane in all those 3 batman movies where christian bale is batman, is kinda weird choise to make him to be someone totally different from totally different place, race, language, accent, mask, and the need of mask.

How the hell does attacking gotham city only, would be seen as some type of cosmic balance ? By killing innocent civilianz in just one city, how the hell that is supposed to even have a global impact ?? Never really understood what the shadows are for. And why every hero can just beat shadows basic men. I thought the idea of shadows was to make someone almost impossible to be taken down, and if they die at training ra's is perfectly fine with that. But still his ranks are full of weak men. Like i never seen any hero characters that didnt could 1v5 against those basic assasins that shadow always sends in young justice tv-series for example. Like how elite martial artists gets beaten up by non trained children ?
