I remember being taught point ignition back in the early eighties in high school. Mr. Scordino, my teacher, inspired me into auto repair. That truck is auto repair basics 101. Old retired guy here. Good memories.
There must be a shortage of experienced technicians. Distributors were still prominent when I was in high school auto shop and I knew how to install a distributor. Eric O recently had to redo a wheel bearing job that another shop did. It looked like Mauler The Installer performed the repair. This was also a legitimate shop. It is as if lube techs are now being tasked with more advanced jobs.
Yeah, as shops try to increase their profits to higher and higher levels, work is given to “mechanics” who are way out of their comfort zone. The theory is any idiot can be a “mechanic,” so it shouldn’t matter. The problems we’re hear about are only the tip of the iceberg. Shops all over the country and having “mechanics” with a year experience installing engines and doing wheel bearings. Scary stuff, but profitable if they can “get away with it.” :/
Another Great day in the shop! Imagine how much time, headache, and money the Ram dude would have saved if he had taken it to an actual mechanic with skill. Of course, Jimmy can make it Work! 👍👍
I can’t remember off hand, they were in the clearance area at my local Walmart. I will check my Amazon Affiliate store to add a link for them, or similar ones.
I didn’t realize that Dodge had a different setup on the distributor. My wife had a Dodge with a slant six in the 70’s and it had a plastic gear. I found out about that because the plastic broke.
@@discipline3318 they get out of everything they can do to not pay dealers that sell them make anywhere from a thousand dollars and up so they don’t care they say they will pay for rental but they only pay 1 day for every 8 hours of book time and screw you if you have to wait for parts my buddy waited 2 weeks to get a part they payed 2 days rental
dam jimmy nice work on the dodge . two engines that I put in when I was younger, Pontiac 400 and 350 Chevy, so it's odd to see the dodge distributor. now it's rare to see a distributor . computers and electronics rule the 🌎! 🪛🔧⚙️🔩👍
Jimmy I really enjoy watching you work on the older stuff.
Thanks very much!

jimmy air flow is down on that cabin air filter for the buick
That’s a bummer! But now that you mention it the trash is always on the inlet side of the filter. :)

Jimmy thats was a master class ,most would have run for the hills when that old heap was their first job,two hours you have it running, well done.
Thanks very much Brian!
$10,000 bucks spent on that? Why?
I suspect they exaggerated that claim, but who knows nowadays.
What brand is the organizational box you used for the fuses?

Yeah, they experimented with plastic in some vehicles For a bit. Remember the Chevy cam gear with plastic teeth. lol
Good work on the Ram Jimmy!
Thank you!
10,000 $$ to put an engine in.... someone is lying to you. Period.
Yeah. I’m guessing mobile Craig’s list mechanic.
Jimmy have great time on your cruise ship eat a lot have fun with the wife do some dancing my friend
Will do Danny! Thanks
You accomplished a bunch. It was all good viewing. Rob offered some help, but you didn't need it. Make sure to put him on your Christmas list.
Haha thanks Randy, will do!
Great work Jimmy.. that wiring stuff is painful most days.
Thanks Spanky! I used to hate it, but over time began to realize getting good at what some mechanics don’t want to do can pay better. ;)
Amazing how things work once you assemble it correctly. Thanks Jimmy
Haha thanks James!
hate that when the stool slips and you get a hood latch in the gut .
Man that is rough, good thing for padding in the gut. Haha
Extended warranty’s suck should not be allowed to sell them
I hear nothing but bad things about aftermarket extended warranty’s, companies go out of business & always cheap out

Yeah, they help a fraction of their customers, just enough to keep people buying the plans hoping they might work some day when needed.
@@JimmyMakingitwork oh Hey Jimmy how’s vacation 😆
