Sittler and Vachon were teammates later that year in the first Canada Cup. They both played crucial roles in capturing the tournament for Team Canada. Both class acts who enjoyed long careers.
Glad you posted this....Nolet's brother lived across the street from me, once he watched me play road hockey on a rare visit.Plus there is very little on Nolet let alone a video clip. Thanks.
Those ole’ Chiefs uniforms sure were Somethin’, eh? Personally, I think they’re still a beautiful sight. Such bold colors and really nice, creative, qualities that one doesn’t see much anymore. Thanks for posting these. We in America didn’t get to see ‘em and now we do. A pleasure! 🤗✌️
Same here, I remember when they had NHL games broadcast nationwide in the 1970s but then they quit for some reason. I used to wait for the TV Guide to come in the mail every week to see if they were showing any games in the sports listings and was always disappointed, my dad told me that they might show games after the Super Bowl but never did. I live 40 miles northeast of Cincinnati and we would listen to the Boston Bruins on WBZ. Then the Cincinnati Stingers came along and were televised on WXIX channel 19, we went to a few games and they could barely get 4000 people to show up so they were shut out of the merger.
Been a Leafs' fan since 1970(I'm 62) but have no memory of ever seeing them play KC. Saturdays we either saw the Leafs or Montreal. I'm in Halifax and all you could do was hope you saw your team. The Habs' fans had no room to complain because they could watch them on Radio Canada. lol
I remember watching the Scouts play the Leafs on a Wednesday regional telecast that aired on the CTV affiliate in Toronto. I'm sure you're right that the two teams never played on the HNIC Saturday telecasts. Ironically, the Leafs did play the Washington Capitals on HNIC. The 74-75 Caps were probably the worst team in NHL history. (Former Bruin Tommy Williams and a bunch of guys who belonged in the AHL).
You're probably right. In the late 70s I ''watched''the Leafs blank(3-0) I THINK Philadelphia in Philadelphia. The feed was terrible, from one of our cable channels(Bangor,Maine). The picture was jumping up and down and everything looked like it was taking place in a snow storm. If you were really stoned, this game would have been the one for you. Those were the days.
Simon Nolet was a sniper for the Flyers. Was part of the early Flyer "French Line" with Jean-Guy Gendron and Andre LaCroix. Besides Clarke and Dornhoeffer, no one else scored.
In 1969-70, the Flyers had four 20-goal scorers: Dornhoefer (26), Gendron (23), Lacroix (22) and Nolet (22). Clarke - playing his first season in the NHL - had 18 goals. After scoring just 9 goals in 1970-71, Nolet (23) was one of only two Flyers to hit the 20-goal mark in 1971-72. Clarke arrived as "the star" of the Flyers, with 35 goals, 46 assists and 81 points. Dornhoefer was second on the team with 49 points.
i was a long time Leafs fan until they lost to Montreal 3 or 4 years ago that was my breaking point. got rid of all my Leafs gear and memorabilia except for one item, an autographed picture or Darryl Sittler...
@jasonvoorhees8545 Did you know Betsy Palmer only took the role of Jason's mother because she needed a new car? Yep. She stated that she thought the movie was a piece of s***. 🤣
Sittler WAS the Leafs back then. Shame we all had to deal with Harold Ballard 🤢. I still have hockey cards back then including the oddballs like the Scouts, Cleveland Barons and California Golden Seals. Probably Atlanta Flames as well.
Simon Nolet might be most famous for his "lucky punch" which broke John Ferguson's nose. After that shot in the nose, Ferguson really laid a beating on Nolet. th-cam.com/video/tMMQVtT_F3E/w-d-xo.html
kc scouts finishing up before move to become col. rockies. Bring back kc scouts. Is it fair scouts only lasted two seasons yet az. yotes lasted 15 seasons too long?
Thank you for posting. Omg, I am a Devils fan so Nolet I am rooting for, but I hate the flyers here in Philthy.. LOL think of the accuracy shooting to early 90's and skating? Players so uch better than this vide.
On the other hand, there are twice as many NHL jobs today. You could just as easily say that half of today's players would have been in the minors back then.
What a treat to see such rare footage of that beautiful Kansas City Scouts uniform in action
@@samstone22744 And the Cleveland Barons
@@samstone22744 I remember Denis Heron was the Scouts goalie.
@@samstone22744the Scouts aren’t really remembered because they were only around two seasons. Lol
I lived for Showdown when I was a kid. Hockey Night in Canada was the highlight of my week. Loved every minute of it.
I remember as a kid my friends and I would watch all these showdowns and then play them out in our basements or outdoors.
Yup, I remember that too 🏒🥅
Yes myself as well...Get the nets out in the driveway with our sticks and a tennis ball.
Yep. And if the kid in goal made an especially nice save, he'd exclaim "Rogatien!"
We were so serious announcing "Larry Patey from the California Seals against Guy Charron from Washington Capitals" Wow ! 😂
Underrated Simon Nolet and rare video of the Kansas City Scouts road uniform.
rEMBER THIS BACK IN THE 70S . Helps me forget these crazy times
Darryl Sittler. Leafs Legend
Sitler never won a cup . Never made to the finals , Shame he was a leaf!
This is easily, and I mean EASILY, the best video in the history of TH-cam.
I recently bought a road Kansas City Scouts retro jersey. I Crested it, Simon Nolet. Great to see it in action.

Darryl's Canada Cup winning goal- legendary.

Won a cup with the Flyers.
wow would love to see more of these
that railroad commercial is WILD !!!!
During this age, the commercials are now more interesting than the main content. "hey man, you got the picture now?"
Howie Meeker and Brian McMaple leaf. What great memories. Showdown Peter puck what great intermission entertainment.

Awesome upload. Great to see the legends again. Merci.
man as kids did we ever look forward to Showdown when it was on, same with PeterPuck
All part of the NBC Game of the Week. Great broadcast team of Tim Ryan, Ted Lindsay and Brian McFarlane.
@@johnm8096And on the Canadian broadcasts as well…

Those yellow/gold Kings pants were great!
Fantastic! Thank you very much for uploading.
Used to watch this all the time. Brian MacFarlane's dad used to ghost write several of the Hardy Boys Mysteries!
I had Simon on the Scouts in my mid-70s hockey card collection.
Great post! Thanks

Koho 221 pretty straight blade I loved those sticks
Loved watching these in the 1st intermission of Canadiens games back in the day.
What a great vid!!
Best memories.
Looks like Rogie packed in a hurry, he's got the road jersey matched with the home pants.

Awesome.
wonderful memories
Is there any saved footage from the original Showdown series from 1973-74 when it was just a penalty shot competition? I've yet to find it.
Jiminy Crickets - all classic hockey heroes!!!
i wonder if anyone has ratelle vs macleish showdown from a few years later would love to see that one
The year I was born. 😮
Geez I thought I was old being born in 75 haha. Yeah, you are old.
@jasonvoorhees8545 Did you know Betsy Palmer only took the role of Jason's mother because she needed a new car? Yep. She stated that she thought the movie was a piece of s***. 🤣
Not a chance they’d produce something like this today in an empty neighbourhood arena.
It kinda sucks that they wouldn't. This is a really cool idea.
Love the fact the boards & ice aren't plastered with pharmaceutical ads.
why did they ever stop this !!!

Little goalies
Oh, no! If Nolet loses, his team is going to be moved to Colorado!!! But...they will get to keep the team colours.
and eventually win the Stanley Cup several times (as the Devils)
Reminds me of robin sadler
flying!!!! players today are so much faster.
Close caption says Gary Younger instead of Gary Unger. DUH
Old goalie mask rule!
They don’t make racist commercials like they used to. 😅😅
When a penalty shot was a legitimate thing, not like today's circus/gimmick!
i watch this now and think, 'how the fk did i not make the show?'
Howie a very harsh critic! LOL.

Sittler was captain of the Leafs in 75, why is he wearing a jersey with an A on it in 76?
KC Scouts ----now the New Jersey Devils
Let’s go Devils!!!!
Showdown AND exploiting another race in a commercial...man, those were the days. 😂
Now we know why the KC Scouts sucked
These Old timers wouldn’t make an AHL team today at this NHL young age. 30? 😝 😎

Nolet 😂 Noskill 😂
