    Sittler did not play for the Kitchener Rangers, he played with London Nationals (Knights). Before that he played with the Elmira Sugar Kings.

    About 1980 sometime. Our family had a huge get together. A couple of cousins of mine went out. One of them wore a Sittler jersey. I over heard my cousin say. Wow what a nice guy he signed your jersey, you didn’t even go up and ask.

    Sittler's Leafs were a contending team even with all the background drama. They took NYI to seven games when they were winning cups. When playing Habs he was given the job of watching Lafleur. I have met him at charity events and he is a classy person.

    • @northernale
      @northernale หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well, no. The Leafs BEAT the Islanders in 7 games in 1978, BEFORE the Islanders began winning (1980). And Sittler as a centre certainly wasn't given the job of shadowing a right winger. But he was indeed a classy person and it's a shame he was forced to play for such a tenth-class owner.

    • @DudleyDoright-ru2ch
      @DudleyDoright-ru2ch หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@northernale His job when playing the Habs was to shadow Lafleur, I stand corrected on the actual year TO took Isles to 7, you also stand corrected on my initial comment. I know this because I never missed those games. Do you remember when he broke Lafleur's hand while shadowing him? Lafleur was once again leading the scoring race at the time.

    The ballard era is an embarassment to a storied franchise. It's too bad we can not erase ballards memory. A disgusting man

    • @TheTarbender1
      @TheTarbender1 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I spoke a few times with former Leafs enforcer Kurt Walker and it's no secret that a lot of Leaf players from that era would have given anything for five minutes with Harold Ballard or Punch Imlach.

    Darryl was drafted in 1970 as the 8th overall pick...not the 14th pick in 1969. And he played for the London Knights, not the Kitchener Rangers.

    “Pressure applied by management”. The factor that has, and always will, prevent the Leafs from being a championship team.

    Punch Imlach made a lot of good moves for the Leafs from the late 50's to early 60,s but by the late 70's a lot had changed in the hockey business. Most significant was the WHA and more power to the players. Punch was no longer dealing with players that were under his thumb. Add an arrogant owner to the mix and you had the recipe for a real shit show.
