Thiis man is the soul reason,y i am toronto maple leafs fan,i am 54 years old born on February 7th 1970 so..l remember this game for sure sitting in front of tv cbc and he was amazing that night for sure, amazing man ,amazing player
About 1980 sometime. Our family had a huge get together. A couple of cousins of mine went out. One of them wore a Sittler jersey. I over heard my cousin say. Wow what a nice guy he signed your jersey, you didn’t even go up and ask.
Sittler's Leafs were a contending team even with all the background drama. They took NYI to seven games when they were winning cups. When playing Habs he was given the job of watching Lafleur. I have met him at charity events and he is a classy person.
Well, no. The Leafs BEAT the Islanders in 7 games in 1978, BEFORE the Islanders began winning (1980). And Sittler as a centre certainly wasn't given the job of shadowing a right winger. But he was indeed a classy person and it's a shame he was forced to play for such a tenth-class owner.
@@northernale His job when playing the Habs was to shadow Lafleur, I stand corrected on the actual year TO took Isles to 7, you also stand corrected on my initial comment. I know this because I never missed those games. Do you remember when he broke Lafleur's hand while shadowing him? Lafleur was once again leading the scoring race at the time.
I spoke a few times with former Leafs enforcer Kurt Walker and it's no secret that a lot of Leaf players from that era would have given anything for five minutes with Harold Ballard or Punch Imlach.
Punch Imlach made a lot of good moves for the Leafs from the late 50's to early 60,s but by the late 70's a lot had changed in the hockey business. Most significant was the WHA and more power to the players. Punch was no longer dealing with players that were under his thumb. Add an arrogant owner to the mix and you had the recipe for a real shit show.
I was a big fan of SITLER ,over the years I’ve met some of the family in several arenas, class acts ..SITLER was bigger than life for me..👌💯💯
Sittler did not play for the Kitchener Rangers, he played with London Nationals (Knights). Before that he played with the Elmira Sugar Kings.
he was born in st jacobs
Did AI make this. Lol. Its all wrong . Kitchener rangers? Wth
@@matlabatt Yep,....and, you notice it just replays the same information,...
drafted 8th overall not 14th

My all time favorite player...he deserved better! Should have been part of the 500 goal club. Great leader!
Sitter, MacDonald , Salming etc . were awesome. Ballard fkd it up.

A good friend of Bobby Orr, which strongly implies that.
Greatest Leaf of alltime.
Too much repetition.
Exactly, and I learned absolutely nothing. Yes I knew much about Daryl Sittler as I followed him in his Leaf years. This is all AI Generated.
@@mreppen1thanks for the warning
I'm outta here
script editing would definitely take this the distance.
I knew this was going to suck, everything from this channel is shitty, but i got sucked in For a last time. Sittler was my hero as a kid
The ballard era is an embarassment to a storied franchise. It's too bad we can not erase ballards memory. A disgusting man

ballard norris ford also
too much repetition and not enough fact checking
Darryl was drafted in 1970 as the 8th overall pick...not the 14th pick in 1969. And he played for the London Knights, not the Kitchener Rangers.
“Pressure applied by management”. The factor that has, and always will, prevent the Leafs from being a championship team.
Facts are wrong... brutal.
Sittler has said that he only accepted the captaincy when he was sure Ellis didn't want it.
Sittler was drafted in 1970 8th overall from London Nationals
A Legend who never won a Stanley Cup
Vancouver passed on him in the 1970 draft. very much a stand up straight shooting guy. Ballard did him no favors
he was drafted in 19 SEVENTY

A lot of the facts are repetitive, in order to perhaps make the video longer.
They became the knights in1968
Didn't he Married Harold's Ballard's Daughter
Sittler played for London Knights (OHL) .. NOT!! Kitchener Rangers. Do your homework.
Ballard ruined the leafs.
I am now at the 3 minute mark of this video and NONE of the narrative makes ANY sense.
"At all.
What is with the floaters constantly drifting across the screen and the sparkles? Annoying as hell. I left after 1 minute.
Interesting video, but poorly put together. Too much repetitive words.
Ballard should never ever had a chance to own a hockey team!
Can't watch this vid with all the fake old footage look.
Old news plus.
Poorly researched. Wrong facts like many Tik Tok presentations
As usual when you do these hockey things you need to do more homework on your flawed facts
in many photos Sittler look gay. maybe he is.
