- I investigate some of the iconic AWP plays from CS:GO, and try to work out whether or not they'd have gone the same way with just 5 bullets in the AWP. Hope I got clip and magazine the right way round hOHOHOHOhoho

I actually thought that such a change was not simply to make AWPers play more carefully, but also for teammates to take a more active role in protecting their AWPers. With fewer possible bulets to fire off in quick succession, there would be increased periods of vulnerability for AWPers, and here comes the responsibility of the teammates to cover for your expensive death cannon.

problem is, only few players will actually protect the AWPer, the rest will just wait next to him to grab the AWP out of his body when he dies xd

You were the first one to mention it
Also needing to reload takes some of attention and focus and also can slow you down a bit, expose your position or make you get caught off guard that can mess things up, for the very least it can definitely mess up timings which can snowball in to a loss or death. Overall not important this nerf, as it doesn't seem like a flood but more of a Chinese drip. The result you'll get to see in averages not in clear examples.
The Adobe AI really kills all "soul" in the voice. Sometimes it even makes Philip sound like a knockoff.
The cat cameos make me wonder if Philip edited them in over the modified voice clips.

Starting this video first, I immediately had to stop and go watch the 2kliks video to figure out wtf is going on. It really sounds like an impostor trying to replace Philip

Keeping 30 bullets to reload while dropping the starting ammo by 5 means that you will have 5 fewer bullets to work with, so you'd better not mess around as much at the beginning
well, awpers in professional games didn't fire more than like 15 times, and i don't think normal players tend to survive long enough to fire more than half of their reserve, so the total amount of ammo will give almost no impact

The answer is no but maybe rarely.
I think it's sort of a thing that we just aren't used to but definetly needed. I have almost never reloaded the awp unless I was messing around.
I think the only big change is that I can’t spam the awp trough the smoke anymore before gettin rushed down. But when do you need 5 awp shots back to back? I think it’s a good change.

Actually paused this to watch the other video (was in Watch Later) because he voice sounded so different. He's definitely done something here.
I'm quite looking forward to seeing much more tactical plays, not only from the AWP, but from the team playing around it. The funny jump shooting and wallbanging and such does make for some legendary clips, but my favourites were always teams like Astralis. Surgical in their precision, calculated and refined. Looking forward to seeing more of that.

Did you also use the "Adobe Thingy?" It sounds slightly distorted and wavery in a way that didn't sound too different from the other video, just less extreme. It just feels more like a different person talking than a different mic normally does.
Snipers normally have less bullets, 10 seemed to OP to me.
for many years i though it already had 5 with how the other 5 rarely got used.
it really shows how it never needed it in the first place, especially how easy it is to team wipe with it.
Now, in other way around, i hope they would somehow addressed the guns that never get used and make them fun too

I would rejoice
that would be an interesting change, having no scope means that a crosshair would be added, and the accuarcy modified to be used without the scope, meaning it would be used like kind of a shotgun/rifle weapon, changing the meta like crazy. If you ask me, that would make it even more OP
Alternatively, it could be the first weapon to use iron sights. Even if there are no iron sights. just lining up the barrel with more FOV could be great

its been something I wanted ever since I first played, it was the perfect nerf for the awp
10 bullets were just way too much, allows for random shots through the smoke or walls to be possible and not punishing to the slightest which while it can look cool is just not so fun for the balance of the game imo
I think even with 5 bullets on the Woxic clip for example he wouldn't reload in that 3rd instance where he had a gap because it would be far too risky. I think that the times he 'could' have reloaded he would also be hesitant to do so given how close the enemy were and not to mention they would not only hear him but trading an AWP is sometimes only possible by using a teammate as bait meaning, in my opinion, the focus on taking him out would be quite strong but also so many factors including the reduced magazine and the reload time and the position he is in they would be thinking about pouncing when he's not ready. Given they are gathering towards aps and already know where he is thanks to the tag early on, they could push Woxic at any point during the time you demonstrated a possible reload, I think in reality their play works vs a 5 shot AWP either because the AWPer becomes more reserved and saves bullets when playing an angle like mid where he could be flanked or peeked from close fast unlike say banana, or because he shoots and having hit but not killed Ethan he is now 4 bullets and if he reloads when he could (again i'm not suggesting that you believe if he had 5 bullets that he should or would have here, simply that if he did I do not believe he would given the possible risk/reward of doing so in those moments) be killed or at the very least pushed back essentially for free.
Which having now seen the after clip statement you make before clicking comment, you also concluded *sigh* but I will post anyway because I went to all the effort of writing it.

I think this will also cause players to pick between either, not attempting wallbangs and shots through smokes, or attempting 2-3 before reloading, opposed to the old 1 attempt leaving you with a comfortable 9 shots left.
or they can think of using the scout or autos if they want to try through smokes and walls

Normally I'd be offended that you had the sick idea to use battlefield music for COD footage, but it's such a banger that everyone should hear it anyway.
And let's not forget, even if the meta switches to a more passive style of awp play, there will always be players willing to take risks to surprise the enemy, thus Playing aggressive with 5 bullets and making the highlight even more incredible. Like Scream or xms not reloading their 1 bullet ak...

Love the terminology tennis with the ammunition containers and their contents.
Accuracy International AWM sniper rifle is the inspiration behind the CS AWP. The real world rifle, chambered in. 338 Lapua, has a 5-round magazine(according to Wiki, Ive never held one, I live in a country with quite strict gun laws, unfortunately).
In practice its common for the shooter of a bolt action rifle to PRELOAD one bullet in the chamber, effectively making it a 6-round magazine. Since CS:GO is a game thats even more dynamic than a real life encounter(what I mean is no one uses snipers in point blank range irl) I think it would greatly benefit from added realism + extra bullet(since 5 are too few).
For example: I start the round(or as soon as I buy the AWP) with 6 rounds. If my gun is chambered(at least 1 bullet and having completed a chamber animation after last shot) and I initiate a reload, it brings me back to 6. If I reload on empty mag/chamber, it reloads to only 5 rounds, rechambers, and then i can reload for 6 if I choose to.
Some games do that, csgo doesn't. Still, a 6 round magazine would be far less punishing than 5.

Holy shit! I played competitive vanilla cod and cod2 back in the day. This was back when cod was actually good and PC only with a huge scene! Travelled all over europe playing at different lan tournaments. Seeing some cod2 gameplay on 3kliks made me so happy! I would loooove a gun like the kar98k/enfield/mosin nagant in csgo :')

3:11 you forget that you automatically reload once you have 0 in the magazine. And since he did have enough time for reloading it would still have played out how it already did. Unless of course he would have changed to pistol or something.

I think with the 5 bullet's we may not see more 'high risk' reloads but we will probably see less random shots and wall spams, maybe not spams but the ChrisJ clip where he shoots through jungle first I think will disappear quickly.
