All these videos by the JSB Stiftung and the Netherlands Bach Society have raised my spirits in these difficult times. The music throughout is a revelation and the technical brilliance and mastery of all the artists is inspiring.
Exactly my experience. war, environmental destruction and a lot of other worrying phenomena. In addition to this, a stubborn nasty Swedish winter can put the strongest in a slightly difficult mood. In this situation, Father Bach offers comfort and courage.
The JSB foundation and the Dutch baroque ensemble are also, in my opinion, the leading Bach interpreters.
I feel an enormous amount of peace when I hear the choir. It is a true blessing even as God can only give true peace.

Raise your children with classical music, and they will not depart from it! My son has been listening to classical music from before he was born. I would put headphones on my tummy starting at around 7 months, playing Mozart and Bach. When he was born, he started huming music. He has been hooked on Bach ever since! Funny story, but true! He's an accomplished trumpet player now! So blessed!!

Every time, I come back to listen to this cantate, I'm marveled! By Maestro Lutz's direction, by the talent of the soloists and their involvement - the duo is simply *exceptional* - and by the enthusiasm of all instrumentalists and chorus-singers, as well. J.S. Bach should have been proud and glad of such a majestic performance.

As a composer I understand just how brilliant and great a genius bach was. Almost 400 years and not a single composer has his skill or ability. He even inspired me to Glorify God and one day I hope to equal him in skill through vigorous composeing every day. Glory to God and evangelist Bach.

The energy! The virtuosity, from the conductor, the strings, woodwinds/trumpet and the vocalists! The trio between violin and the two vocalists is brilliant!

I could not agree more! In preparing a daily Facebook series in anticipation of Bach's birthday 31 March), I have turned again and again to this ensemble's cantata performances as exemplars of Bach done well.
My thanks that they have made these thoroughly professional videos freely available. It is not only generous, but saves many of us from the concern of paying the piper his due. TH-cam's "negotiations" with ASCAP and the like pay little attention to the concerns of smaller ensembles.
Wann ich höre eine neue Kantate die mir sehr gefällt, suche ich viele Fassungen und nun muß ich sagen dass ich diese Fassung die Beste finde. Der Zusammenhalt und die Deutlichkeit innerhalb und zwischen dem Orchester und dem Chor (insbesondere mit diesem flotten Tempo) ist beeindruckend! Was für eine wunderschöne Aufführung! Vielen Dank!

In spite of their precision, their accuracy, their serenity they perform with that inner joy that makes you smile and urges your body to swing along - and makes your soul soar up! A complete and utter delight! Bravo! Ganz großes Lob!

From my research on the cantatas of J. S. Bach, listening to old and new recordings, live performances, considering not only the craft of music making, but most importantly the spirit and Dance of the music, this performance of BWV 66, seems to exist in the lifetime of Bach as if he is here. It is certainly his tempo. I can’t imagine he would be disappointed with such intense certainty and splendor that this performance shares.
Bach is unique. The only one no dobts. I don´t know the group. It is phenomenal
Superb, it brought tears to my eyes. Soloists were excellent, chorus and orchestra were perfect. This should be considered a classic performance of a Bach cantata.

God this is wonderful. It's so interesting to watch them. It brings back memories of younger days as a music student. They have the quiet concentration and a kind of self effacing pride of true musicians. They know they are creating something wonderful together but are devoid of egomania style showmanship, and they are always sensitive to the entire ensemble. Bravo!

Julius Pfeifer is fantastic. The whole work is fantastic, as are all of the performers. This makes me glad to be alive and proud of my German ancestry. Yes, I know everything about this is multi-national, but the language is my language, my Mother Tongue. And, my father was born in Leipzig...( And the Swiss are mainly Schwaben, like my mother.)

The opening chorus is dance music, like so much of Bach. This group truly conveys the sense of the text. Now if we could only have the pleasure of seeing some fabulous dancers performing to this music. As a dance lover, I would like to see someone choreograph the whole thing!

Outstanding! I've not heard this cantata before (There are so many!), but it is indeed beautiful in the hands (and voices) of these wonderful musicians. Recordings and videos such as this one allow us 21st Century viewers to know how Bach attempted to bring his listeners closer to God. Many, many thanks for posting this!

What I really love is the fact the string instruments are played in the correct Baroque way i.e. without this - imho very akward - "dauer vibrato". And several brass and woodwind instruments look like replicas of the original ones, used by Mr. Bach's musicians. That's absolutely awesome ! I know very well how hard it is to play them correctly - but these wonderful musicians do it perfectly. This Music is really uplifting for one's Soul and also very comforting.

The trumpet used here was never used in Bach's time. No finger-holes then. All done with breath, tongue and lips back then.

Felicitaciones para el señor Lutz por el inigualable trabajo que ha realizado. Y claro que no puedo olvidar en mi felicitación, a todo el bellísimo coro y orquesta de la Fundación Bach, así como a quienes se hicieron cargo de toda la parte técnica, que por razones desconocidas nunca se mencionan, siendo gracias a ellos que tenemos una producción audiovisual sin fallos de ningún calibre.
I would have loved to have been present at the first rehearsal of this piece! The exchange between Bach and Gottfried Reiche about the opening trumpet part would have been, well, interesting!

Bravo for this wonderful performance but particularly to the first trumpet player, who nails what is probably Bach's most technically difficult trumpet part. Excellent.
