I have done the same but want to know what restrictor did you use and where can I get one from. Any infor or links or pics of the restrictor please.
Hi. My didn't have the restrictor in the return line. It only had the fuel separator which I removed and put in the t-piece. Can I run it like that without the restrictor and will it cause any issues. What must I ask for when getting the restrictor.

Hi, regarding the float level adjustment screw, i have a question: Is it secured in any other way than just screwed in? It is leaking on my KS2 but when i loosen it to take it out, it gets stuck when the top ist just above the plane of the screwhole. The screwdriver slot is already a bit damaged, and i fear breaking it when i try to turn it more. Also, for the hinge of the float, how should i take that out? I assume i need to take the float out to get the bottom part of the float valve out, but the pin doesn't move at all
That is 100% correct .you can actually hear the engine idle become a more shaky when turning in,and more smoother when screwing out..Then again, not too much

Could be more than one thing ..fuel pressure,airleak,or dirty carb,.. first just give it a blast of carb cleaner into the fuel bowl,then drain the fuel bowl.or while engine idles hold your palm of hand over the mouth of carb,you will feel the suction,just before engine wants to cut remove hand .That could clear up any blocked jets..

Hi ,the problem usually is the butterfly not closing completely due to carbon and dirt stuck in the throat. A blast of carb cleaner can loosen that dirt,and then also pull the 2nd stage external little lever ,on left side of carb to free it up bit more.What puzzles me you say the same thing happens with your new carb,so now I'm thinking airleak either at base plate or servo pipe....make sure base plate is not sucking in air,or another thing is are you sure your accelerator cable is not the problem..because when it gets older ,just like a clutch cable the strands come apart and it frays and starts rubbing against the inner tube of the cable.,and not releasing ,causing engine to stay on high rev...take off the accelerator cable and check if it runs freely through the tube..also when fitted ensure its routed nicely and no tight turns.This has happened to me before ,where my accelerator cable was the problem.Took me long to come to that conclusion.
If you have a newer model Mk1 which has the distributor without the vacuum advance cannister then you don't have to worry..just ensure you block off the ports behind the carburetor

I know this is a common problem.Things to check is the gasket inside the carb.sometimes it leaks from the fuel bowl into the second stage .,and also the needle and seat could be stuck open ,allowing too much fuel into fuel bowl

Hi sorry, very late reply. Have u tried to not pull it out that far.. Made just less than a quarter. Mine also smothers when I pull choke out even a quarter. But I've discovered it works better when I pull out only a wee bit. Or your carb is over fueling due that float level screw being too open.. But don't fiddle on that. Try and see if cold engine will respond better to choke only being out a small bit. Thanks

Hi it could be one of many things.. Could be blocked main Jet on your carb, spray some carb cleaner into the bowl of carb and try reving it. Or take off the carb and service it, if u can.. Try that for a start.
Hi I've got a bit of a problem my car idles at 900rpm when braking the cars idling would drop and die depending how many times I'd press the brake pedal I then removed servo hose and blocked it off going into the intake car now idles 900 rpm when I press the accelerator and give it a rev the car revs up and when it comes down to idle speed again it doesn't idle it dies what could be my problem please help me
Hi it could be a problem with the actual servo pipe,.. It also has a one way valve inside the servo pipe, which can give up. Also fluctuating idling can also be due to your air fuel mix being too weak.... So just try richenning the mix a bit, by turning air screw out (anti clockwise) half a turn.
Hi, jerking at high rev can be one of 2 things.. Either Fuel starvation, due to a weak fuel pump, or clogged fuel seperator, or clogged up fuel pick up in the tank... I have videos on all of these.. Not sure if you seen them. Or it could also be a misfire, due to spark plugs or leads, or coil etc.. I have videos on these too..
@@shannonmoonsamy maybe the float /fuel level gets too low at certain times.. Maybe just make an adjustment so that more fuel flows into carb.. Just make a quarter turn adjustment at a time

Have a look at the connections. under the rain tray in engine bay..It sometimes is just a bad connection, due to corrosion..

Yes there base plates are good. Just don't over tighten the 4 long bolts holding it place.. Rubber coated base plate is still the best

Hi PJ. My mk1 distrubor don't have a vacuum pipe,and on the caburator is points of vacuum pipes how do I connect the pipe's

Check the fuel mixture ..could be too lean still....also your ignition timing ..set it with a timing light
