    Hi. I applied a little Victor reign around the accelerator pump spindle plastic seal. Seams like when operating the accelerator, the suction of the accelerator pump diaphragm sucked fuel from the float compartment and deposited past the top of the accelerator pump grommet resulting in the fuel leak.

    Thanks for the very helpful video. A quick question: I have a 1988 Golf mk2 1600 and it's carb looks very similar to this one. I'm having problems with it starting sometimes and I think it's flooding. In your video you refer to the brass bolt/screw on top (right rear) of the carb where you make adjustments for the amount of fuel flowing into the bowl. Do you know what that should be set to (factory setting) because I think mine has been adjusted and it could be the cause of the flooding?

      Aftermarket carbs like Dorco are not bad ....Just don't fiddle unecessary on them ..Sometimes people have issues with their cars and they fiddle on the carb,..and it then turns out the issue was not even carb related..,and the poor aftermarket carb gets blamed..😊

    Hi Paul, maybe you can help me here, i have a VW Caddy bakkie, i unfortunately got rid of the orginal carb and is now replaced with pirate carb. The reason i got another carb is coz the bakkies revs shot up to 1.5 - 2000 rpm when i stood still at traffic lights or stop signs. So now heres my issue, got the pirate carb fitted by mechanic and now while im driving, as soon as i change gears especially when i drive the car past 3000 rpm then it stays reving high, sometimes the only way for me to bring the revs down is by giving the vehicle an even higher rev maybe to 4 or 5000 rpm then it sometimes drops down while changing gears. Any advice pls?

    • @pjs-golfmk1-diy
      @pjs-golfmk1-diy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Luis. It sounds like your second stage doesn't close completely after it opened, so to determine if it is in fact the case, when it happens again,pull off road, pop the hood and have a look at the carb, if you know where the second stage lever is, then push back on it,.. If the revs then drop to normal you found your culprit..( In other words the second stage valve is not completely closing)... To solve this check if there's any gunk on the lever of the second stage, spray some carb cleaner on to get rid of it, but afterwards spray some lubricant on the lever... Or just oil it up a wee bit. Also then spray some carb cleaner down the second stage throat. There could be dirt in there, obstructing the valve from closing enough. I had a similar issue, and also had to give the engine a hard Rev to get it to normalize. Hope this will help. Thanks

    • @pjs-golfmk1-diy
