I can't imagine the pain Mabel's mother had to endure for the rest of her life. Losing her husband and their only daughter... Then, her aunt, asking herself if she could have saved her little niece's life somehow. Rest un peace, sweet Mabel.
It’s truly heartbreaking to think of the weight Mabel's mother and aunt must have carried. Losing both a husband and an only child is an unimaginable grief, and the lingering “what ifs” would be so hard to bear. Mabel’s story is such a tragic reminder of life’s fragility. May she rest in peace, and may her family have found some comfort and strength over the years.
@@lindawalters1836Yet there are numerous photos of Biden sniffing women, making a bee line for children and the latest: biting babies!! Get over yourself, your denial of reality and your TDS!!

Such a very sad story!!! She was a beautiful little girl!!! I just don’t understand why after all of those children complained about him that he wasn’t fired!!!
children weren't taken seriously as intelligent beings back then. they were little more than unwanted pets.. judging by society behavior. I know folks say their children are treasured but we can't see it anywhere in society.. that children mean something to their parents, outside of exploiting the children for their own personal gain, somehow. This species is that bad off.
I think the saying was something like children should be seen but not heard. It was a different time. Thankfully, we do evolve as human beings, but alas, evil is still present.
@alyssstout8112 It was only thecweird "photo" I was talking about! I only meant it doesn't look like a real child! Of course I would never call a real child ugly! I'm sure she was beautiful 🩷
Ahh...wondered where my Monday morning crime fix was! Always the best way to start the week off right: A Brief Case! Hope you all have a stellar week - sending love from Baltimore, USA.
This church sexton was hiding in plain sight within a community having been trusted by them. I can’t help feeling for all his other victims as well as little Mabel. The one who got carted off to a lunatic asylum after his previous attack on her is a classic example of society not knowing what to do with the traumatised victim of an unprovoked attack, even if she was of “dubious reputation”, which may have gone against her at the time. So despite him spending time in prison, his series of previous violent attacks seemed to go unapprehended, and not taken into consideration in Thomas Piper’s first trial. We are less likely to let this kind of criminal record slip now and we have also thankfully developed advanced forensics. What I liked about this episode was the way the community drew together to get Thomas Piper’s conviction for Mabel - and also the illustrations shown of the beautiful architecture and elegant and educated society of Boston in this era. Thank you Brief Case 🦋
Good morning Brief Case and Thank You for another great one I just love that you cover older cases cause without you I wouldn't even know about all of these cases as always such a great voice
