Brief Case, My Mother and I found your Channel in 2020 during the pandemic and her convalescence from brain surgery. When she got covid, and she was in a nursing home, she enjoyed out time together listening to you. You voice is soothing, calming, and your cases are very interesting. Sadly, on 02/20/2024 my mother's heart stopped and she began her journey into the light. While I am hurting, I wanted to take the time to thank you for the entertainment you brought to her in her final days. She always looked forward to your uploads. Thank you.
I am so sorry to read about the loss of your mother, I know the sadness felt at the loss of a parent, I am very grateful to you and your mum for watching the videos and pleased to know that your mother enjoyed them, my mum won't watch my videos instead she watches forgotten lives and tells me his subject matter is far more to her liking - take care, my thoughts are with you at this sad time
@@BriefCaseOfficial Thank you. Please hug your mom for me.
Thank you BC
You always relate to us about the towns and the way of life which makes your narration of the crime proper ,very interesting
I.also like the drawings of the ship with the sails ( billowing ?)and the other grounded ship .Thank you.once again and Good Night.
Thanks, I will be going back to the UK for a few weeks at the end of March to see her :)
@@BriefCaseOfficial Thats wonderful.
Oooh! Margaret is hauntingly beautiful. Awesome photos of New Zealand. All the illustrations are compelling. They lived such hard lives. Thanks for telling their stories.
Glad you enjoyed it
Yes. She was. Actually, Joseph wasn't bad looking either. Also, the Lieutenant and his wife also made a handsome couple!
Thanks for telling us about these older cases and for entertaining us in the process. I used to think that police working a case was a much more modern thing, so I’ve often been surprised by the level of forensic examination and detective work that was done to solve these crimes.
Listening in from Australia 🇦🇺 before I drift off to sleep. Always interesting to hear cases from this part of the world. Thanks BC.
Listening from South Jersey USA
Listening from Qld, Australia as well :)
Listening from New Zealand, and I agree!
Good old down under, thanks for the story, always like to learn about history.
Perth, Western Australia 🇦🇺🦘
I love the unique cases you cover that don't get a lot of attention elsewhere. Great work! 💙
Thank you so much!
When there was a ship wreck not even halfway through the story, I knew it was going to be extra good! Thanks Brief Case!
that marriage was one of utter drudgery & toil if you ask me
Our trans-Tasman brothers in New Zealand take the cake when it comes to complicated crime stories.
Theirs aren't the weirdest (That title goes to South Australia), but there's always a story attached.
Great work guys. i had never heard of this one before.
See you next Monday.
Very true South Australia does get the weird crime award.
Are you talking about The Adélaïde region ?
Ooops. Good point. I meant Adelaide. It's rare in the bush. It's just the bodies that end up there.
I'd never have the guts to buy a block in Truro.
Sorry, Thanks. 👍
@@perrydowd9285 Thanks for your response
Them: This kind of crime didn't happen back in The Day.
Brief Case: Hold my lager.
Both very attractive people. Shame he drank so much and got nasty.
I’m certainly glad we don’t hang people anymore simply on the word of an embittered partner who’s already been proven a liar in court having already accused two other men of the same crime.
No country should execute its own people or anybody else for that matter
I agree, too many innocent people have been hanged.
It is always a great day when Brief Case uploads another great case
Thanks Bobby
I’m saving this one for my night time listening. I just love Brief Case, I don’t think I’d sleep without it even though I often fall asleep, I wake up just to hear how it ends 😂😴👏👏👏
London calling! 😜 I've been looking forward to my Monday lunch time with you. Keep them coming!
Hope all is good there :)
I love starting my day with Brief Case. These older cases you tell us about probably wouldn't even be known if it werent for you.
I agree she should've been pubished for her false testimony, even if she was influenced. But, it's sad too, because I do wonder if she ever saw her kids again.
Yay! Thanks BC! Great start to the week.
Thanks Becca :)
This is the only true crime I watch I love this channel! I love how much detail you have with explaining how that time period was like, BC you have a gift😆

Thank you for bringing the past to life, once again.I'm glad that Margaret did not get away with her own part, in lying, and that her sister took her children, to start a new life.
Listening from NZ, great story thanks heaps.
Thanks for listening
That was also during the period of the great Irish famine so life indeed was very rough for the native people of course its largely contributed to what is now the Irish Diaspora like you see in the USA for example

You should do a collab with Dark Curiosities! They do missing people/murder stories. Another one of my very favorite channels.
What a tragic story. Everyone should understand that life was so much harder back than.
Really interesting story. Enjoyed that.

Hi briefcase as usual I enjoyed your wonderful video. You always give such a succinct and complete information of the cases you cover. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much!
You always present the most interesting cases. Thank you!
Glad you like them!
Wow, what a tragic case. That poor family, and the the one surviving child would have been devastated. It's unclear who may have committed the murder, but it's heartbreaking. They were certainly difficult times, particularly for the poor and uneducated. Thanks B.C. Great story as always.
Hi Tamsin, Thanks so much for your support :)
Alcoholism never benefits a couple.

Great research as always, great story ,handsome couple . Joy from England. He was not guilty
Thanks for listening
I absolutely love your stories! And love hearing your voice and the way you describe things & show illustrations during the storytelling! I’m of the notion that he didn’t murder Snow. I’m not sure who did but I’m certain that Snow had upset many folks during his life & career, so I imagine he had a lot of enemies.
Please keep up the good work!! Blessings always BC! ❤️😊✝️
Thanks Betty
@@BriefCaseOfficial You are very welcome! ❤️😊✝️

Hello briefcase, love all you do 😊
Thanks :)
Can’t help but wonder what became of the children.
B.C. -Maybe you can occasionally do follow ups on the more interesting/infamous cases ?kinda like “Finding your Roots”only different cause strangers want to know? Anyways thanks for the story.
Yes good idea, I will see what I can find out - Thanks :)
love your stories ..thank you x
Thanks for listening
My husband and I watch you on TV so cannot comment unless I use my phone. We thoroughly enjoy your videos. Really interesting. Thanks for all your hard work!❤
Thanks so much
Well researched
Thanks
My great grandparents came from Ireland to NZ, and my grandfather was born in 1890. Sounds like Joseph had quite the significant head injury. Ha! I was born just up from the Devonport naval base. Thanks, BC. Excellent as always. xxx
Thankyou
Thank you, BC, for another interesting story. I wonder if Joseph's headaches were not symptoms of head/brain injury he sustained when he fell off the mast.
I knew a guy who had a traumatic brain injury after being hit by a car. His intelligence was not affected but he started displaying an explosive temper. He spent some time in intense therapy and occupational therapy, and actually he is much better now.
Great case, as always, thank you. One detail to mention is that the pronounciation of Māori is incorrect, otherwise an excellent watch. Love your channel
Hello Brief Case
Hi Stephanie :)
Excellent.
Many thanks!
Listening in New Zealand
Interesting, thanks
Thanks for watching!
Thank you fab video
Thankyou so much
Hi bc. Are those stock photos or actual ones of the couple mentioned?
Again thank you for your research and presentation skills.
I do not think they are photos of them, I was unable to verify any
I genuinely don't think he did it. I believe his wife proclaimed him as the person because of his hot temper and hitting her
Honestly, I think his common law wife helped.
Battered women rarely strike back
I think it was more than a hit. He was charged with grievous bodly harm. That means he beat the hell out of her. But still not a reason to lie on him but I think he did it. He was a violent person, and between what she had told and the wounds on the victim it ma⁵they up. He was always taking what he wanted and this man had been his replacement so he was going to get revenge, and he did.
He confessed to the murders before he was executed, so I think that’s rather conclusive 🤷🏽♀️. In that confession, he also implicated Margaret and that’s where there’s doubt either way. Personally I think he was just trying to drag her down with him as pay back for her witnessing against him, which shows his focus on himself and not a thought for his own children who would have been made orphans unjustly. What an unsavoury man he was from start to finish.
If those kids got taken to California with their aunt, that was probably the second bit of good fortune they experienced after the first bit of good fortune of their being taken in by their aunt following their mother’s deportation.
Great case, BC, thank you!
It's hard to say. The prosecution claimed they found the murder weapon in his residence, and it had blood on it. Depending on how honest and accurate that was, it seems like that may indicate he really was guilty.
Listening from Texas.
