    You might recall the Gaming Dining Table I built in 2015 ( • The Gaming Dining Table ). Ever since then, Nicole has been asking repeatedly, "When do I get my chairs?" So I started designing a new chair that I'd eventually batch out for a total of six. I did this as a Guild project where I discuss the details of my design and prototyping process. With the help of my fellow Guild members, the prototype was improved upon and the final six chairs were completed. If you want to get the plans for this project and get immediate access to all 17 videos, you can do so here: thewoodwhisper...
    The video I've assembled here is a quick look at the process of designing and building the chair. I hope you enjoy!
    While my chairs will sit around my dining table, I should mention that these chairs would also look great around the Trestle Table I built earlier this year: • Legs, Through M&T, & D...

    Well, those chairs are stunning! Most impressed by the fact that you not only built them, but they are your own design.
    You've almost got me convinced I could build some nice chairs... LOL
    I love the Greene & Greene touches.

    I love making chairs, but boy oh boy there's a bit of a learning curve and remembering which miter goes where isn't the easiest task, but not impossible. Once you build your first chair it gets much easier for the others as long as you remember your initial screwups..nice chairs man!
    I built mine with yellow pine and lots and lots of 3/8" dowels.. 32 of them if I'm counting right..

    I have been debating on whether or not to start in on the gaming table and with these chairs it kinda clinches it. Do you think you could add an option to turn a couple of them into arm chairs?

    • @woodwhisperer
      @woodwhisperer  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +jblevin385 adding arms shouldn't be terribly difficult. But the project is complete at this point so it isn't likely I'll add anything to the series any time soon.

    • @woodwhisperer
      @woodwhisperer  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      During the construction, the chair had to be assembled and disassembled many times for joinery and shaping. That's pretty easy to do with screws. With dowels, I'd have to use clamps every time.
