Are the gun stocks restained how is the shading applied?
After you are finished engraving the stock all you need to do is apply a contrasting color stain or oil of your choice. The stain will not go into the area that has the original finish on it. When you engrave into the finished stock, it will not affect the surrounding area on the stock. The new stain will only go into the fresh engraving. This way you do not have to take all the old finish and stain off. You can apply with a brush or soft cloth. The dark and light you see for shading happens naturally because of the depth of cut. Some areas will absorb more than others.

Hi, you can add any color on wood that you like. You can use oil-based or acrylic paints. You will need to add a seal coat of a clear to protect for the sun or if it is to be a functional piece. You can also stain your projects with standards finishes or like the fish scale from the video we used a tongue oil for a more natural finish.

This is our blank stencil sheets from SCM. These are so easy to use. They come in 8 /12 x 11" size. Just trace your lines. The key is that the high speed cuts right through like butter without shredding. This is the easiest way to transfer your designs onto your surfaces.
