    So I jotted my memories that I have rode on blue/white carriages in the early 80s, maroon double deckers and silver painted double deckers (not stainless steel). Are they just painted differently rather than a different design?

      yes a different livery depending on what company was running the railway at the time

    this is a bit of a silly question but will any k sets be preserved? I highly unlikely think this will happen

      There’s an extremely likely chance a set will be preserved

      Probably SETS as THNSW has stated there is more interest in a V set then the C/K set

      @@nathansheritageonrails3801 they could have more interest in the v set of it’s great impact on the network and that there is less worry about the inter carriage gangways

      I spoke to a member of SETS at the expo who told me they have already got a V set ordered for preservation and will be getting a K set when they can, so yes.

    Why couldn’t F1 shut her back to Flemington when she is at Flemington her self ?

      All K sets are maintained at Flemington as well

      1. W3 was being transferred by the K set, not F1
      2. W3 is not fully ready and qualified to run by itself at the moment, hence the other train having to haul it

      W3 & F1 in terms of Voltage output, not compatible

      Any special movement has to be ticked and approved by Sydney Trains before it can happen, the K set was a quicker solution as it would of been approved quicker as if you tried to get 8649 to tow it it’ll take ages for that to be approved also being partially owned by Pacific National, also undertaking all that STN and operations manual just for that 1 movement, theoretically the K set was a smarter move, god knows what would happen with F1 pulling W3 pantos down and being a first, probably a easy way to kill it. Also had a power supply issue on W3 one of the days, also being it hasn’t done mainline trials which couldn’t go by it’s self. 20km/h limit per station.
