  • An in depth look at the Supapeg Outbound 6 Awning folks and the other items I use in conjunction with it. I highly recommend using a few poles on any type of awning to make it a better structure and some shady gear walls for protection from the sun, rain and to provide privacy. Throw an Oztent into the mix for extra accommodation.

    Hi Buck. Just letting you know about something that happened to me. I had my Drifta (Supapeg) Rapid Wing awning pegged to the ground at the bottom of the poles only. A sudden powerful gust of wind got under the awning and pulled one awning pole apart, leaving the bottom section of the pole still pegged to the ground, while the upper section of the pole, blew up and over with corresponding section of the awning. This resulted in a broken knuckle at the hinge point, which I later repaired. This is something that can't happen so easily if a rope is holding the pole down, as the tension of the rope is pulling both the top and bottom sections of the pole down. Anyway, I thought I would share that with you. Something unusual but it can happen in windy conditions. Loved your awning video and the tips. 👍🏻🇦🇺🍺

    Thanks Buck ,good video .. To stop awning riding up on the top of pole on the pin you can purchase small orange balls that have a wing nut thread to screw into the side pin at any height holding down awing on the top of pole. BCF and camping shops sell them and they work well. 👍👍🍻🍻

    Thanks for an entertaining video. That is a great camping outfit. Although your TH-cam format has changed it’s great you continue to promote those great Aussie made products. It was a neat pan of the camera by Ros to include Rafa. Safe travels.

    Thanks for sharing Buck and Roz, I carry my battery blower for when we’re packing up to blow the leaves and crap that fall on the awning.

    Buck, get some Nilodour from Coles or Woolies and put a few drops on the area where the micro bat died. It will neutralise the odour. Dont use too much, it's strong stuff. Works well in eskies bait buckets and anywhere that strong odours are. Great setup and great video. 👍🏻

    Great job! I love the details and hands on reviews. I've always wished that our awning poles could be anchored to the ground. We have to use multiple lines with any threat of wind. Thanks mate

    Good video Bucks. I have a super peg 270 awning on my 13’ van and can’t fault if. If anything, if the weather suddenly turned bad and had to pull it down quickly it could be a problem on your own. But at the end of the day it’s well made for sure.

    Hey Buck.. I got a copy dot I been making and have to 270 driffta squareback and yea solo it was horrible to setup more so in the wind.. So I re-engineered it and now Its ffreestanding.. the only squareback drifta/supapeg 270 in australia/the world that's freestanding, The frame is 100x50x3 alloy rhs channel, has also a backing plate which makes it more rigid, added a 4mm 316 stainless steel section to make the hinge allot stronger on downward force.. as it uses the same hinge system as the original just more beefy and thicker 316 8mm bracket/hinge with thicker arms and its truce arms.. With that modification I managed to get it in 70km winds and it didn't move.. no legs no ropes needed.. Second mode was to bolt the awning frame to the rooftop tent with 4mm thick 316 ss.. 1 on each end, now last camp I went to I was on a mountain with 90km winds no poles, no ropes and it was so steady the only flap was the canvas where no velcro was attached.. I'd say it would be able to handle 100-110km winds with rain no issues.. it also can use the curve spreaders just like the normal awning could. I got a video of the setup on my channel.

    Great camping kit for Northern Australia, as you don't need to be in a box (caravan) up there

  • @SteveMrW
    @SteveMrW 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Buck, the trailer setup is so much more adaptable than the caravan and it's what you and Ros prefer. One question? With the privacy walls, people can't see in during the day which is great, but can they see in at night when you have lights on?

    • @Mrbuckaroonie..
      @Mrbuckaroonie..  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Later superpeg free standing awnings have support poles attached purminetly and stow away against the arms of the awning.

    Love this setup Buck & Ros, very practical if camped up for a few days and takes less time to set up than a bigger tent, which does not provide the amount of room achieved as in your demonstration. Just out of interest how many metres wide is the awning, i.e 2.0m or 2.5m?

    • @Mrbuckaroonie..
