    thank you for your test. I believe difference between two runs comes from inaccurate state of charge percentage, sometimes, automakers use Ah value as percentage or something like that, so if you have 100Ah battery, at 50Ah it'd say 50% which is not true because at higher SoC, you have higher voltage, therefore more kWh. Same thing happens in my e-Niro, it almost takes longer to go from 100% to 60% then from 60 to 0%
    1% at full battery has about 25% more energy than 1% at empty battery if looked that way
    In order to avoid such misleading percentages in your tests, I suggest you either extend battery usage during test (i.e. 95-5%) or try to have equal percentage above and below 50% (75% - 25%)
    also, round trips (back and forth) are good to negate wind and elevation differences

      You are probably right. Next time I will be more careful with this. Thx for your comment!

    It's not that strange for the range at 130km/h, because of the Inverse Square Law. If you go a set speed, but then double the speed, you need to use 4x the energy to move the air out of the way. At 3 times the speed, you need to use 9x the energy. The loss to friction on the road will be about the same, but aerodynamics do matter.
    if you divide 130 squared (16900) by 90 squared (8100), you use over twice the energy to shift that cross-section of air from the front of your car at 130km/h than you do at 90km/h. 208.64% of the 90km/h energy if you drive at 130km/h for the air-shifting part of the equation instead. So seeing the projected range go from 357km to 205km isn't surprising... it's expected through physics.
    As for the difference between the 240 and 205 km range, wind speed and direction at higher speed becomes a bigger factor. If you're suddenly driving into stronger wind, that's even more wind to move out of the way.

    Hi...ithis is my test n italy with 5°celsius:
    130 km/h 330 km
    110 k./h 390 km
    I donato know if the upgrade to R23 version impact but I'm very happy... satisfaction? 100%

    Interesting at highway speed. I drive only 15min a prototype in Italy maximum at 80-90 km/h. Quite comfortable and silent (luxury equipment).

    Did you have the battery heater on for the recharge on the second run? Maybe the battery had cooled down before you did your second high-speed run? I’ve just had the updates done on my ZS and it is running better and getting more range but I am disappointed that I have no access to the battery heater as I thought I would go in by comments of the updates I’ve seen? I don’t know whether Other’s address owners now have a switch for the battery heater on the screen? Emoji batteries do seem to be affected badly by the cold.

    Maybe the percentage is based on Ah (and not kWh) so it's not linear.
    PS
    The gear box is not to reduce the consumption, but increase performance... if the rotor is not "advanced" like the Tesla Plaid ;-)

    When doing these tests you need to keep in mind that you're driving 90/130KmH all the way. That's not how WLTP tests are done. If you've achieved 357Km driving a constant 90KMH that means WLTP you'll be doing well over 400Km. So yeah, pretty accurate. I'm guessing in summer you can do even almost 500.

    I’m trying to figure out if I will buy the eniro or the or the MG Marvel R lux here in Sweden (charges at 95 max with flat curve)? Our speed on motorway is almost always 110kmph. Would the difference be large in consumption between them?
    Let’s say that I will be traveling 600-700km which car will do it easier and when is one better than the other .
    Are there some with experience regarding the difference between maintenance between these cars?
    Either I’ll buy an eniro 2020/21 that have gone 50000km for around 27500usd or a marvel r lux for 34900usd that has only 7000km on it.
    What do you think? Which one would decrease the least in value within around 5-7 years in your opinion?

    Why should a 2 speed gearbox decrease the power consumption on an electric motor??

    • @_TrueDesire_
      @_TrueDesire_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      decrease the RPM for high speed roads = lower consumption.

    • @vl3005
      @vl3005 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's the same as ICE cars... lower gear ratios mean less power needed to spin the drive shaft that spins the axles that spin the wheels. Less RPM basically.

    • @MathiasWesterlund
      @MathiasWesterlund 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@_TrueDesire_ This is not how an electric motor works. It has a directly linear efficiency UP TO A LEVEL thats where the efficiency suddenly drops off, the gearbox means you can go to 200 without hitting that dropoff and as such keeps efficiency at high speeds and it also means less wear on the motor for high speeds. Nothing else.
