scratch this....the first day you released this video I downloaded the .dra, but it was listed as "CF_IntrDVR-Media-3A.dra". Today I decided to just download it again and I got a completely different file in the download. New name on the file completely. The new file works perfectly.
When I try to open the .dra file it says "Unable to import Project" and gives me the "Abort" button. Please note that I am using Resolve 17 as my iMac can upgrade upto Catalina os, however I don't think that should be a problem with respect top opening a .dra file.

Having gone through stages of using Premiere, Avid, Final Cut Pro, back to Premiere, and having started out using video tape machines with an edit controller, I've been curious about DaVinci Resolve. People kept saying it was different, so I really appreciate this stroll through all the steps and functions. Honestly, it doesn't look like a difficult move to make. I really like the way it's all under one hood and the ability to go back and forth without bridging to other software and importing links to external files. For anyone thinking that the nodes workflow in Fusion is confusing, be glad you never had to apply even simple effects in Avid! What a headache that was.
just watched the whole video... love the content. Really learned a bit more about the fairlight panel that I didn't know. Appreciate the time and effort (and the color grading on your video!)
I literally was thinking "hmm, I'd like to try filmmaking, let's see if there are updated courses for Resolve" - and here I find this fresh course, released just 3 hours ago. It's like I was called by it
For the people that are hesitant to watch the whole thing, do it! This course is so intense and has so much knowledge. I'm coming from premiere pro and I spent a day to watch all this and its crazy. The fusion and colour sections are insane. Thanks for the amazing free value, it's really appreciated!
Just watched the whole thing! The more I watched and tried myself, the more I felt convinced and excited to convert from Premiere Pro! Thank you ever so much for this, you're a legend!
This is a godsend. I was taking a course through Udemy and it just drags and drags without ever getting to the reason I paid for the class…to learn how to use the tools in davinci.
I bought 2 Udemy trainings and I found out they are scams. You are freely doing this. Thanks man. This is the right business model. Reciprocity. Let me master this one and for sure, I will take your fusion class. paying. am just at 2:00 and sold! why? cause, u r doing it right.
Wow, I'm absolutely blown away by the power and capabilities of DaVinci Resolve! After watching this video, I've finally decided to make the switch from FCPX-this program is on another level. The fact that all this comes for free is just mind-blowing. Your video was incredibly beneficial in showing just how versatile and powerful DaVinci Resolve really is. Thank you so much for this amazing content! 🙌
I just downloaded DaVinci 3 days ago after I'd been using Adobe Premiere for 7 days. I've spent about 5-7h per day just learning from TH-cam and this video really helped even though I got very lost in the second part of Color Page! I'll just have to come back to this video later on when I have gained more knowledge but all in all, this video was super good for a beginner like me, and all for free, thank you so much!
Visit www.groundcontrol.film/support for help articles. Also, if after carefully reading through the instructions on the download page you still need assistance, please email help@rthstudios.com.
Thank you for this,I had never interacted with daVinci at all, but after this I know much and I can only improve on specific arears.Thank you.May God bless you abundantly.
Casey, that was brilliant, thank you! I can't imagine a better intro to editing than this. Presenting a rather complex topic in a straight-forward manner is a sign of a real experience and a great skill of sharing knowledge.
Just finished this course. Amazing stuff for beginners. 100% free. It doesn't get much better than that. Thank you so much Casey! I'll leave just one note. I did a similar course for Premiere back in the day (which was not free), and a very useful section they had was a "Cinematography" section where they explained a little bit about theory. For example, they explained why and when to use certain cuts (J cuts, L cuts, etc.), why and when to use certain transitions, and other "theory" stuff that I found really interesting and useful in case you are not only editing but filming stuff as well :)
This video is super valuable! Even if you're already thinking that you kind of know Davinci you'll still get a lot of helpful stuff and will understand a lot of the pannels you'd never touch but turn out to be great. I've been using Davinci for some time and I've watched quite a few shorter videos but maaan, this one contains everything you need to kick start. Great stuff!
Thank you for making this, will be watching this several times over the next few weeks. Just made the switch from Shotcut after 4 years. Must say that I'm not even done with the Media tab section yet and I'm already blown away by how much more intricate and powerful DaVinci is. Not to say that Shotcut isn't a great editor but it's like going from the Industrial Age to the Information Age.
Just switched from Premiere Pro to DaVinci, and this is exactly what I was looking for. Appreciate the effort and very very good quality content. Keep up the good work man :)
HEllo, i just finished watching your tutorial today, started watching a couple of days ago and finished it on a Saturday whilst at home, 18/05/2024, it was sooo goood! well aticulated and expressed, you demonstrated the use of the tools for Resolve so well that you have drastically reduced my own hands on learning time required to activley get stuck in and start creating without hesitation. Thanl you Casey. time to create some magic. my name is Malachi! - blessings to you.
Finally finished everything! Ended with about 12 pages of notes lol I feel much better about DaVinci now instead of going back to premiere every time I got overwhelmed.
I'm watching and writing notes for three hours and i had to sop to thnk u for this amazing video that explain everything and i mean everything!!!!!!! i understood everything even though english is not my mother tong. thnx again ❤❤
Done video for 8 years on TH-cam, used Davinci the last year so I thought it was time to actually watch a tutorial. Great to get it all in one package. Took a couple of days but, here we are at the end. Thank you.
I want to thank you for this tutorial. I'm a professional editor for 20 years and needed to learn Resolve in order to dump Premiere Pro. I followed this tutorial and now I "know" Resolve well enough to have made my first complete production in it. Great. Thanks! Better than Udemy!
I have been procrastinating but I am glad I decided to watch this video. Thank you for really explaining everything in detail. I am really learning a lot from this course and I haven't even finished the whole video yet.
This is the best course you will ever find! If you are on your day one of learning DaVinci like me, this course will be the engine-start to your journey. everything is explained to the degree that make you actually start using the program and create stuff. And the guy's name is Faris as well!😀
Just starting the video but I appreciate the honest marketing. No bait and switch, just all the cards on the table and leaving the decision to the customer instead of pushing the sale
Video editing is a very broad subject and what you do heavily depends on the context and your project that you have. You still managed to deliver a solid (and free) guide on this app's usage.
I dedicated nearly a full day to watching the entire video, following along with the provided resources as I went. Before this, I always thought video editing seemed incredibly tedious, but not anymore. I learnt so much, thank you @CaseyFaris for such a detailed video.
What a great course! I am no longer intimidated by Resolve, in fact, I now think it's gonna be easy to work with it, even though I may watch at least parts of this video a second time. AND, 😂 I now realize that I can actually even master color grading and Fusion! Excellent teaching style, by someone who obviously knows Resolve really well, and has actually taken the time to think about how to teach it as well. Thank you so much!
Hi, it was great, 4,5 hours, over an entire weekend, a lot of exciting stuff, don't miss it, out there, next is to get deeper into DaVinci, thanks Casey
I'm so glad I discovered DaVinci! It's one of the best things to ever happen on this planet, and this godsend course is no different. Thank you, thank you!
I love seeing how much (relative) overlap music production has with video editing. Like limiting, compressing, ears adapting vs eyes adapting. Hell, you literally have an EQ but for colour and lightness
Appreciate man for all the effort you put in to make this video possible for us…. I was about to buy a course to learn davincie resolve … But you save me 🙏🏽 THANKS A LOT MAN ❤️
I watched the whole video and practiced the wide shot sample on Fusion. I've also watched the Fusion video explained with toast and it was very helpful! Thank you for putting these videos out on YT!
The best and complete course out there, I literally watch the almost 5 hours long video in just one sinlge afternoon, and I learned and enjoyed so much, I have to say, the colorist part when initially touches the circles, and then explain the managed profile colors after that explaining in nodes with the CST node after saying the first 2 methods is not the way he would do it was hilarious. I am so gratefull for this video and channel in general, keep it up man!
I APPRECIATE for giving this for FREE! I just recently stopped using Adobe, because of how greedy they've become and with the addition of their new ToS. I've never stumbled upon Davinci Resolve, and you providing a beginner's course truly helped me! Davinci is truly a fantastic software. I love organizing my clips, but one of the pain points that I've been getting at Premiere is that I need to keep putting my media files back everytime I create a new project whereas Davinci already detects your media files from the drive straight up to the software itself, and it is up to you whether to put it on your project.
I can't express enought how greatefull I'm for this video! I got back to editing after YEARS and I've never used DaVinci before. So I got super overwhelmed when I opened it for the first time! This saves me so much hassle! Thank you thank you thank you!!!
I dont think anyone else on this platform is willing to do a 4h30 in depth video about learning DaVinci Resolve for free so thank you for your work and dedication.
i just came here for short info about something and watched 4.5 hours of high quality tutorial with rewinding it few times... wow.. amazing.. thank you!!! you really know how to explain!
I watched the whole thing but in chunks. I have been dabbling in Resolve for several years now and this has really helped. I will approach it with more confidence, and I hope I will be able to do even more now, in less time. Thank you!

This was the best and most intuitive beginner's course in Davinci Resolve I have seen. Thank you very much.
my lord you're literally my editing savior i'd be lost without these crash course
Im going to be watching this one over and over , Thank you for this Casey !
Dude you're like a valuable rare gem on TH-cam.
Man, this guy can read my mind. I was about to purchase a course on udemy but was very skeptical if they would cover everything.
Thanks a ton, Casey.
I bought the Udemy courses. This blows it away for clarity and effectiveness.
I dare say, Resolve runs suprisingly well on low-end and old systems, significantly better than Premiere or VEGAS!
not to mention 300 bucks is a steal for what you get in studio version. and no paid upgrades for life
This video is 5month old and still benefits human kind. Hats off for this fine gentlemen
I completed this course in three days.... I improve my knowledge about DR...Thank you so much sir from India..
Haha, same for me. I just got lost during the grouping of clips...suddenly my nodes were completely different from the ones in the tutorial...
Where is the link to buy you a coffee?
I dont know what happened but when I am opening the project file it is saying media offline
Visit www.groundcontrol.film/support for help articles. Also, if after carefully reading through the instructions on the download page you still need assistance, please email help@rthstudios.com.
There's a chain icon on top left named relink media. you have to locate the files on the computer
had the same issue, just make sure, the video format is supported by your system.
@@CaseyFarismy interface of davinci resolve different than yours , can i make it like yours ? How?
@@dyan9243 I've been searching for an answer to this for nearly 20 minutes now, thank you!
Welp I'll be uninstalling premiere 😂
Why
Same here lol
It’s so sad that most don’t know about davinci and how powerful it is even on the free version
@@SadhnaBhartichoudhary8because they fell way off the cliff. Davinci took over and added everything you need.
I did the same after I realized I had been paying monthly for Premiere since March and had not once used it.
now I know how to troll friends
Just finished this course. Amazing stuff for beginners. 100% free. It doesn't get much better than that. Thank you so much Casey!
I'll leave just one note. I did a similar course for Premiere back in the day (which was not free), and a very useful section they had was a "Cinematography" section where they explained a little bit about theory. For example, they explained why and when to use certain cuts (J cuts, L cuts, etc.), why and when to use certain transitions, and other "theory" stuff that I found really interesting and useful in case you are not only editing but filming stuff as well :)
this deserves so much more respect and views and stuff i haven’t watched it all yet but 4 hours must’ve been insane effort put in
This video is super valuable!
Thank you, thank you and thank you Casey. You're a legend. A quality course like this - on TH-cam - and it's completely free. Unbelievable.
👍
I'm watching and writing notes for three hours and i had to sop to thnk u for this amazing video that explain everything and i mean everything!!!!!!! i understood everything even though english is not my mother tong. thnx again ❤❤
we all need to appreciate guys like this man huge thanks man ❤
This man is for the people! ✊️✊️ I was struggling all day yesterday till i found this. Thank you, dude
Done video for 8 years on TH-cam, used Davinci the last year so I thought it was time to actually watch a tutorial. Great to get it all in one package. Took a couple of days but, here we are at the end. Thank you.
I have just finished whole video maan almost 5 hours. Wanna say from the bottom of my heart Thank you 🔥
I want to thank you for this tutorial.
You rarely find any content creators that post high quality and complete tutorials like this! hes doing gods work!
This is what you'd expect from a proper instructor on the software application. BRAVO!
Appreciate man for all the effort you put in to make this video possible for us….
I was about to buy a course to learn davincie resolve …
But you save me 🙏🏽
THANKS A LOT MAN ❤️
I watched the whole video and practiced the wide shot sample on Fusion.
BY FAR, the best begginers tutorial out there, literally everything a beginner needs to know
I APPRECIATE for giving this for FREE!
This is by far the best editing tutorial i have ever seen... thanks a lot man❤
I watched the whole thing but in chunks. I have been dabbling in Resolve for several years now and this has really helped. I will approach it with more confidence, and I hope I will be able to do even more now, in less time. Thank you!
Thanks for doing this! It really jump started my understanding of Resolve in a way other courses (I'm looking at you, Linkdin Learning) didn't! Looking forward to more of your courses!
You are the best man, this 4 Hours 40 mins video made me so fast to understand how to basically use this software and love dive deeper to explore it
Thank you so much, Casey for putting this here for free.
That's really awesome🙏
