Great tips, Matt. I spent ages researching a pedal and made sure I got one with a polarity switch 😊 But I also have one without. Not heard of the tip to keep the pedal pressed while switching onm so must try that 👍
I think keeping the pedal on while powering up is the least likely to fix most problems but it’s worked for me in the past so it’s a handy trick to know. Thanks, Ian! 😃
good vid. fixed my problem but like every other video I wish you and others would get to the point. This video could have been one minute long. "Hey look for the switch on your pedal" done.
Thank you for correcting my presentation. In the future I'll try to make the videos much shorter so you won't have to watch nearly as long and you will be able to instantly have the assistance you need. I appreciate your help!.
@@mwmusic29 I am learning to make videos and I will be sure to get to the point and then say hang around a sec if you have time. I have a Samson carbon 61 midi keyboard, it worked when I first got it, but not it only works in reverse. I tried everything and nothing worked. The pedal works normal on any other keyboard.
I've got a hammer 88 (m-audio) i use as a master keyboard for my Korg electro. (one outgoing midi cable) I use a yamaha sustain pedal and lately it's been randomly reversing polarity an avg of 5 times per half hour. I see a brief 'spark' under the Hammer 88 pitchwheel when it happens, as if the M-audio wal-wart is being 're-plugged-in' periodically) Does that sound like bad wal-wart or bad sustain pedal or ___?
Problem I'm having is my M audio sustain pedal doesn't seem to work anymore with my Alesis keyboard. I hadn't played my keyboard in some time and recently tried my sustain pedal but nope. If I plug the pedal into the expression jack on the back of the keyboard it activates the mod wheel effect so it certainly is sending a signal. Any ideas? And the sustain pedal works on my iRig keyboard fine.
Plugging the sustain pedal into the expression jack will probably not get you the results you're looking for. Does the Alesis have another pedal jack? Try that one and see if it responds correctly. The expression jack is for a different style pedal so the results may not be what you're after if you plug a sustain pedal in there.
@@mwmusic29 My point was, it I plug in the sustain jack, it doesn't work at all. If I plug it in the expression pedal jack, it acts like an expression pedal so there is some function. Just not when I actually plug into the sustain pedal jack.
@@WCSkills Oh, ok. I understand. I would venture to say that your sustain jack is in need of repair. If you have the chance to try another sustain pedal in that sustain jack it might be helpful to confirm that theory. Sorry to hear about the trouble and hopefully you can get it sorted out!
What if I don't even use a sustain pedal, but some keys sustain(half left section of the keys) and some don't (half right section of the keys) I am using a keylab essential mk3...have you had any experience like this sir? If you have, I would appreciate your solution. Thanks
@@mwmusic29 I was just testing a few minutes ago using a higher buffer size in the midi settings (512) It was working well until I starting going through several presets in the software. I closed and reopened the software and it is working well again...I guess it might be the buffering in the midi settings...
Unfortunately, none of these was the solution for me, although they make pretty much sense! I just purchased a Roland Dp-10 for my electric piano (not a synthesizer), it's the Casio CDP 120. The pedal has a switch, but it seems not to change anything... can you help me by any chance?
The answer is simple: The switch of DP10 is not about polarity, its to change half-damper on/off. You can try to change the option to "off" and then try the "power on with pedal hold" alternative.
@@KhachuMero If you tried all three options listed in this video and none of them worked then I would suggest trying a different pedal to see if it works. Thanks! 🙂
@@mwmusic29 i am using Sustain pedal Yamaha FC5. Whenever i plug the Sustain pedal to keyboard, automatically the Sustain is on. The sustain stops only when i press the pedal. But i need it the other way(i.e. sustain comes when pedal pressed). It doesn't have the Switch on it to change the Polarization. The Second option of Holding the pedal and Switching ON the Keyboard didn't work for me. Also i am not able to find the option in keyboard (Yamaha i500) to turn it off. Thankyou
@@felixfrancis2717 I looked at the manual from Yamaha for the keyboard and there's a menu you can access to assign the function of the pedal. I recommend looking at the manual (you can access it online) and seeing if yours is set up properly. Let me know if that helps! :)
